Of course they could tell that she wasn't in prime condition, whether it be a change in her scent or the tightening at the corners of her eyes, her slight panting despite the day's cool breeze. Nineva expected that they would take notice, but she didn't expect them to give her so much... care. Even Judas, seemingly the most... independent of them all was clearly concerned. This had all been a cold, calculated business but now, as she looked the gathered group over, from those who were silently watchful to Neha bringing her the medicinal plants she would need, Nineva realized something that should have been apparent to her much earlier.
This was her new family. She hadn't wanted this pack to be anything like the Hollow, but here she was in Veho's shoes, appreciative of the closeness that the woodland pack had maintained despite each individual's flaws.
Another contraction gripped her, and this time she visible winced.
"Yes. I'm in labor, so I won't be able to join you all in what must be done. This is where I am making my home. From this shore deep into the forest, all those ravines and cliffs.
