Elias clamped down as hard as he could, till his mouth was awash with the taste of blood. Phew, for a moment there he thought he'd screwed up big time, that he'd missed his chance. But now that the two of them were wrangling the big, wiggly fish it was obvious that the fight was won- that they had emerged victorious. Only when the fish was dead did Elias wade back to the shore and drop their prize to the ground. He opened and closed his mouth a couple of times to loosen up his jaw then turned his attention to his companion. What were they going to do, rip it in half? Have one side each?
He'd been about to suggest they share when four figures emerged from the forest. For a moment he wondered if they were Driftwood wolves, angry that he was fishing in their lake. But no, those weren't wolves, they were coyotes. Heck. They had no doubt smelled the blood and come to investigate, to steal the fruits of their labour. Well, that was hardly fair. Elias had no interest in just handing it over.
Picking up the fish once more, Elias jerked his neck, motioning for the loner to follow him.
"Issh way, um back wid meh. We can shore whern wur safe."The coyotes hopefully wouldn't follow them back to the keep, at least then they'd be able to take their share in peace.
