Lyanna Tainn

With a grunt, Askan proceeded to take the reins in hauling the kill the rest of the way to one of the caches. To this she couldn't object and, to be honest, she didn't want to. She was wholly exhausted. And if it was his will, she was both appreciative and relieved. Drawing close to his flank, she summoned up the remainder of her strength and followed.

On the way to the cache, she did her best to pay attention to the path he'd taken and the sights of the forest as they pressed deeper into Shallow's Edge territory. But despite her most noble effort, the darkness proved to be a bit more formidable than her memory could overcome at this point. Coupled with the peaceful quiet and comfortable climate of the night, she'd been lucky to have any mindfulness at all to help her to keep up. Perhaps the adrenaline rush that accompanied her excitement over his offer earlier and the turn her life took in accepting it had expressly worn off, leaving her as drained as was possible.

So it was with a bittersweet resignation that Lyanna eventually bid Askan goodnight following their little deposit. When he turned from her to disappear into the shadows, her eyes trailed him to the very end. A tired, lopsided grin settled on her lips as the sounds of his paws crunching in the grass faded to silence. Somehow a unique fondness for him was budding in the depths of her heart - why, well, she couldn't quite put a finger on it.

Thoughts of the dark furred man with the fiery look in his eyes came and went in her mind until she laid her head to rest and drifted off to sleep, her back pressed against the trunk of a lonely tree.
