OOC!

-------------------------------------------------------

Word Count: 222

No sooner had the white woman decided she would rather go to bed than talk to someone, Piety made herself known.  Anaia sighed, but at least it was someone she liked.  Of course, it would have been better if it had been Sara, but her sister was likely out again.  She needed to have a talk with that girl; maybe she could get Lorcan to help her convince Sara to relax every now and again?

“Yeah… It’s nothing serious though.  Right, @Lorcan ?” She looked up at the healer for a moment before turning back to Piety.  “We found the caribou! But we also found this pit of water that burned me when I touched it.” She held her paw up slightly to show her where the herbs had been applied.

She yawned, but figured she might as well finish the report, even though she would likely have to give it to one of the alphas in the morning.  She shuddered at the thought.  “The herd was huge, though.  It could feed the pack for ages.”  She was glad the mission was a success; maybe it would help her earn some favor with @Craw .

Then again, she’d returned with yet another injury. The best she could hope for at this point was for things to even out and he wouldn’t think any differently of her.

Lorcán Artemieva
This will most likely be Lorc's last post
Lorcan observed Anaia silently as she took the Goldenrod he had offered her and promptly followed his instructions. His black tipped tail wagged at the sound of her relieved sigh and he moved in close to briefly sniff and visually inspect her handy-work with his golden eyes. Satisfied that she had done a good job, he’s attention wavered and it was only a brief moment before he smelt a familiar pack member approaching them.

His tail wagged behind him as he turned to face the direction that the scent was coming from and a smile graced his charcoal lips even though he was yet unable to distinguish @Piety through the darkness. A chuff confirmed that she had noticed them and soon enough her pale figure could be seen approaching them. He offered her a warm smile before responding to Anaia’s question. “It doesn’t look too serious, no. You should be fine.” He confirmed, glancing down to her paw.

His tail began to wag faster with excitement behind him and he was about to spill all about the caribou but was beaten to it. Lorcan nodded in agreement and watched Piety for her reaction. “Too bad there was only two of us, otherwise we would have taken one down…” The healer added, a slight ring of disappointment evidence in his voice. “But, at least we know where to find them now.” He added, trying to put an optimistic spin on the situation. It was definitely information worth knowing and Lorcan would certainly report back the information alongside Anaia to @Craw and @Morganna in the morning.

He couldn’t help notice the scratches down Piety’s face from when Zahira had attacked her. At least they were healing. “How have you been?” He asked her hesitantly, concern obvious in the way he looked at her as he gestured with his muzzle towards her face.

Piety Santoro
Sorry Pi's grumpy :c @Lorcan @Anaia

She should have been thrilled they found food, overly excited even. Alas, she just chuffed. "Good job for the caribou, maybe avoid that pit of water unless you wanna scorch your fur off." Her head nodded towards the other pale woman. It didn't help that Piety's new injured face would take up healing supplies and it wouldn't help if they had someone (who already) take up more herbs.

Her eyes briefly looked to Lorcan. "Did they show any signs of moving soon? Might need to act fast." It was not a demand, just a neutral comment on the situation. Everyone was hungrier than usually and perhaps even crankier. It didn't help that some Mittani guy had dragged in more creatures. What an asshole.

The Santoro couldn't help but furrow her brows and frown at his question. She knew what he was talking about, everyone knew. There was no need for him to be so blunt in pointing it out. "Fine." She stated a little coldly before she began to turn around. "I'm gonna go for a stroll. You two might want to sleep, I'm sure others will want to talk to you in the morning." Without a glance at either of them, she eagerly took off into the night's cloak.

Morganna Archer-Lyall
I'm where you wanna be
Morganna Archer

She felt @Piety leave the den and while usually she would just grumble and drift back off to sleep, the sound of voices outside the den beckoned her awake. She took her time, hanging back in the shadows while the dove had her say. She had to agree, hunters targeted the lame and the pack was only as strong as its weakest link. @Anaia was proving herself to be so to date. They were not a hospice and perhaps it would have been in everyone's best interest for her to take her leave once her leg was mended.

A nudge to Piety as she passed told her Morganna would join her in just a moment. She had to address the travellers first. "If she need's more o' tha' she's gonna hav'ter find it herself." She spoke with finality, knowing full well that her chances sat somewhere between buckleys and none until the spring thaw, and even then it would more likely take her into summer to find anything of substance to replace the herbs she had used. "There isn' enough ter get us through as is." That small issue addressed she went back to the information about the herds. If they had continued to travel east as they originally planned that would put them closer to Hearthwood than the Monadnock. "I'll have ter speak ter Hearthwood, see if they want ter join us." There, that would save them disturbing her sleep in the morning.

Her peach eyes lingered on the injured white girl a moment longer than would leave her comfortable, her tail inching higher as she did so. It should be all the warning that she needed that she was skating on thin ice. With a snort that billowed fog in front of her face she turned to join Piety on her midnight stroll. At this hour of night they might even run into @Isuni on her way back up to bed.

OOC!

-------------------------------------------------------

Word Count:

Anaia twitched her ears back in response to Piety's words. Did she think the smaller woman hadn't figured that out? She had brought it up to warn them in the first place. But apparently her guilt over getting hurt again wasn't enough; her packmate had to make her feel worse.

She looked down, not replying to her question before the other woman slipped away. But if Anaia thought she would be able to get some sleep, she was sorely wrong. @Morganna slipped from the den and eyed them before making sure Anaia knew just where she stood. The subordinate looked down with her ears laid back.

Now that she was back, the smaller wolf wished she'd taken advantage of the opportunity to slip away and give herself a few days headstart. She was worried they would follow her, afraid that if she left...

She banished the thought. She wouldn't leave. Where would so go? North no longer seemed like an option. Nothing did. Squirming under he alpha's gaze, the pale woman had the uncanny feeling she knew exactly what she was thinking.

With a nod to the others, Anaia crept away to curl up between two rocks and try to sleep. If recent history was anything to go by, she wasn't likely to succeed.

Piety Santoro
She was tired and the evening was approaching. Piety had been keeping a close eye on everyone but kept her time mostly spent on @Wraith and @Morganna if she wasn't alone. While she should have been more involved with other members, Piety was keeping to herself for a reason. She was changing and she was unsure if it was for the better or worse.

Her body laid sprawled out in front of the den. While she didn't mind being alone with her thoughts, she also wouldn't turn someone away. Piety didn't want to seem completely closed off. Part of her was hoping the looming shadow of Wraith would appear but so far she was out of luck. With the sun out she was almost positive he'd be out working. Just like she should be.

With a groan she rolled onto her back, stretching out her limbs before flopping back onto her side. She would certainly be a sight to see right now. She had taken on being a bit more reckless and rough not that her face was less gross. The signs of scarring were evident and the marks looked better every day. Well, if better was technically the right word to use.

Wraith Kael
Wraith had spent the better part of the day patrolling to the west, keeping a watchful eye on their esteemed neighbors as he scoured the plains for signs of where the herds had moved to. He found them a bit farther north than usual and wondered if the nearby pack had anything to do with it. Perhaps a recent hunt by the rivals had sent the animals off their normal lands in search of refuge.

His paws were practically dragging with exhaustion by the time he got back to the Monadnock. However, catching sight of the sprawled out female in front of the den, Wraith picked his way towards her more carefully. His paws moved as silently as his namesake, a surprising feat for one so large.

Wraith revealed himself by unceremoniously flopping on top of Piety, amber eyes laughing at her with quiet mirth. "You were thinking about me, weren't you?" he teased, grateful to have another that he could relax so fully around.

Piety Santoro
She had no idea he was around. It was like he had crawled from her imagination right on top of her. With him, mostly on top of her, she let out a soft groan before a gentle flow of laughter followed. His question had her smirking and tossing a long leg over him to grapple him in a playful manner. "And if I was?" She teased back. "Don't flatter yourself too much, handsome." She tossed on the kind gesture and offered a lick to his ear. God, he was awfully large. Yet she didn't want him to move. She was comfortable with her legs flailed about, one over him and the others splayed out like a rag doll.

"Thought you'd still be out working, taking advantage of the sun." Piety nosed at his head to see if he brought home any funky scents. "Where ya been without me today?" Her tail beat the ground underneath her. While she didn't need to do everything with Wraith it wasn't not common for them to go explore the tundra together. They had found all sorts of things out there! "Better not be finding new places without me. Who knows what you'd name them." She chuckled softly. She remembered how he had so desperately (not exactly desperate, she just liked to think of it like that) pushed naming Edge Stone Pool on her.

With her nose buried in his thick fur she waited to see what all he would tell her about. Hopefully he had a good story or two. She was dying to hear good news.

Wraith Kael
Wraith snorted with surprised amusement. He hadn't actually believed she was thinking about him. To find it to be true...well, he didn't really know what to think about it. He settled comfortably enough though when Piety tossed her legs over him, tangling them hopelessly with his own to make it difficult to get up. And that was fine and well by him, too. He draped his large head across her neck, nuzzling close. He missed this closeness with others. In his birth pack, it was such a natural thing. There were always large cuddle piles in the Far North. There needed to be more of them, he decided then and there.

"Spying, mostly,"
he admitted. "It was boring work. No places of interest to speak of. I'd let you know if I found one. I would of course have to find you to name it for me," he rumbled with a smile. Burrowing his nose into Piety's neck, Wraith grinned. "Bet we can make @Morganna jealous that she's not getting cuddles if we stay like this long enough."

Piety Santoro
in that moment harps and sparks play out
Piety Santoro

She welcomed his nuzzles with an affectionate growl. A soft nip on his crown before she listened to him speak. It was no shock that he was out spying. The dark giant seemed to like being involved in all things.

"I figured you'd be doing something like that." Piety press into him to keep warm from a passing breeze. "You'll learn to name things one day. It isn't that hard, promise." She smiled back at him and let her tail wag the best it could as he buried his nose into her neck. Her signature song-bird laughter filled the air at his comment of Morganna and jealousy. "Not sure I would wanna make her jealous. We might be making Craw jealous that I'm stealing you from time with him." She nipped at Wraith playfully. "Have you been spending time with him outside of sleeping or is he working himself to the bone?" The pale Santoro inquired softly. She truly didn't want to hoard the second to herself even though she did enjoy every moment with him.

It felt good to be tangled up like this. Despite the ever-rising stress levels in the Monadnock, Piety knew she could come to Wraith to relax and have a good time.
