The young man watched the girl in front of him, waiting to see the disgust and realization in her eyes. Surprisingly, it never came. Sure, she looked slightly surprised but she acted as if what happened to his face was no big deal. As she approached him, he grew weary, amber teal-flecked eyes watching the girl as she slowly but surely limped her way over. He went to reprimand her for her actions but found his voice stuck in his throat. When she spoke, her words were awkward but he found that it helped calm him somewhat. With her actions, she showed her compassion. Not the kind that his mother and brother were required to give him, but of someone who hardly knew him. When she made contact with him, the boy tensed involuntarily, his breath hitching. He glanced down at the girl as she embraced him, of her own free will! He couldn't breath. His heartbeat increased considerably only focusing on the fact that she was touching him. However, the brief paradise ended and she pulled away from him, but when she spoke again, he began to doubt himself once again. If this was a deception, Yuka knew that he would end up just as bad as when Inali left. He couldn't let himself get attached. Especially since he was now being haunted by Inali since he had graciously murdered her in cold blood. He had let his temper get the best of him and the Thorben was trying to make it his goal to never make that mistake ever again. So to make sure he didn't snap, he whispered softly, "Why do you think that? My face looks like it was eaten by a bear." He didn't dare glance at her, knowing that he was correct in his assumptions and didn't need someone to confirm his own words. |

Titanica Danica immediately wondered if by touching Yuka she had upset him. He had become tense in response to her gentle embrace, had she messed up already? She hoped that she was misunderstanding him and sat quietly. She was sure that if the young man didn't appreciate her actions he'd voice a complaint. When he finally spoke Dani stifled a laugh, trying to be ladylike. "A bear?" She asked with this unintentional comical look in her soft emerald eyes, "Yuka your face doesn't look like a bear ate it." She responded soothingly, "More like something clawed it...but I don't think it's that bad. I care more about what is on the inside anyways. Picture yourself meeting the most beautiful wolf, but she greets you rudely and shows off a snotty and selfish attitude. Now picture the ugliest. This women greats you warmly with an attitude of compassion, patience, and love. Who do you find more attractive?" Her words held no tone, just a smooth casual melody. Danica sat for a moment deep in thought. She studied his face, then trailed her eyes over the rest of him. With a nervous voice she started another small spool of words, "Yuka I find you handsome because of your bold amber eyes, russet face on a lightly colored pelt, and your strong appearance. You are tall and muscled, with scars that declare that you must be brave. I have yet to figure out your personality...but you have been nice to me so far." Danica felt extremely awkward after telling him that, but she smiled to show him that she meant it. Her front paws shifted nervously beneath her. The young lady wondered how Titan would feel about her talking to his brother like this. She figured it was a minor thing, Titan had already begun to win her heart. He had those eyes, so blue and bold on his handsome black pelt. His face was one she loved and his body, like his brothers, had the appearance of strength. He had a lovely personality to accompany all of this...he was so sweet to her. He had shone her he could be gentle, playful, protective, and well over all a fantastic guy. She hoped that they would stay friends for a long long time. Danica felt a strong love for her dear Titan, but didn't fully understand that she saw him as more than just friends. She was drawing close on dark waters that could prove dangerous or great. It all depended on how Titan felt towards her, and if anything would ever result of these feelings. Pulling herself back to the present Danica wiped the thoughtful dreamy expression off her face. She turned to look back at Yuka and apologized, "I'm sorry, my mind wonder off there for a moment." She explained herself feeling heat rush to her face instantly, "Anyways back on subject, you're handsome despite the scars that mark your face. You're a warrior right? All warriors have battle scars that tell grand stories about their past." "The snow is falling like I am for you." Into the Silent Night |
He stared at her intensely, unable to tear his eyes from her form. Of course, the logical part of his mind reminded him that she certainly wasn't his and she never could be. But the other part of him yearned for more. Wanted a woman to be able to look at him the way Danica was looking at him right then. Fortunately, even though Yuka had lost most of his morals, his sense of loyalty towards his family still remained. Titan would never wake up finding that the woman in front of him had been snatched from him by his brother, who only wanted a companion and someone to say that they loved him. Someone who wasn't obligated to lie to his face and tell him that he was attractive. And yet, he could have all that if he just went against his brother and attempted to court the lady. The Thorben knew who Dani was though and the scarred boy knew that Ash would not stand for such business. His focus was on his work and not some silly girl. The large boy remained silent in respect for the woman's words, listening to them intently but not daring to answer any of her questions. In reality, Yuka didn't know what he would do if confronted with any of the suggested scenarios. If anything, it would just work to make him more paranoid. He had, after all, killed his angel. And that need to confide in someone who cared for him came strong, but still he remained silent. He was a monster on the inside and out, a murderer. The russet cream colored boy did not have the heart or courage to admit this to the beautiful girl in front of him, but he did say one thing, based off of what he had heard of her from Ash. "You are too kind, Miss Reinier....much like your mother." And with a blink of an eye, Yuka returned to the shadows, his eyes on the girl. He made sure once again that he was not traceable as he watched her. Their alpha had told him of the trails between the two siblings but both had, in the end, made up and become family. She would never reveal such information to the girl though, knowing it wasn't his story to tell. |

And just like he came he left, with just a few simple words. Danica sat there in silence chewing on his sentence for quite a long time. He had called her too kind and compared her with her mother. Both things caught her attention, but only one sent a pang of pain through her. She missed Nina and her blood family...but she had not been happy at Secret Woodlands. She was happy here at Whisper Caverns though and that's what mattered. Yet all that he said said throughout their short meeting wouldn't leave her mind alone any time soon.
Sighing she slowly stood up on her tender leg and limped her way back into her safe place. Once within her little 'healing area' she lowered herself down cautiously. There was no need for rough impact with the hard cavern ground. Danica laid quietly rethinking her fresh encounter with Yuka over and over again. The boy intrigued her with curiosity and would not satisfy all of her questions. She wanted to know more about him. She wished to understand him. However, for now, she whined softly in request of Titan's presence. Unsure if he was even around and could hear her. Either way she closed her eyes, giving into a needed nap. The interaction had tired her sickly body and she was out like a candle light. Her soft snores filling the damp air.
Pleasant dreams swarmed her mind of warm happy places. The sun shining down on her back, making her fur hot to touch. Flowers blooming in all of their glory and grass swaying in the breeze. Bees buzzed while the sweet smell of honey filled her nostrils. Smiling Danica set out on the adventure taking place in her head. She shared it with Tacoma and Ashton only with the absence of her mother and Koda, however this didn't trouble any of them..."speech"
He was an honorable boy if nothing else and he knew that Danica certainly was not his. As much as he wanted to make that fantasy in his mind come true, he logically knew that no one could feel such an emotion towards him. Love. It had been thrown back in his face by his caretaker....and then to make up for the deed he had killed her. No one knew of the monstrosity that he had become except for his former angel's spirit, who seemed to want to haunt him wherever he went. He hated her for everything that she had done to him. For deceiving him and causing him so much misery. He had made her pay for it and he did not even regret it. At this, Yuka should have acknowledged that there was a problem, but he ignored it and continued on with his duty. Within his mind, he hadn't realized that he had begun to murderously stare at Danica's throat, the prospect of ripping her vocal cords out actually appealing to him as her younger shape shifted into that of Inali's with clear blue eyes staring straight at him. Biting his tongue sharply to remind him of where he was, the Thorben stared at the woman in front of him, remaining silent as he made himself comfortable. Their talk seemed to have worn her out and he was relieved to see that she had dozed off. Without moving from his position, Yuka watched over her through the night and slipped silently out the caverns as the sun began to rise. |
