Absyrtus Selk Lycus Slayer
-kicks this off with the new guy-

He was knew here but felt at home already. So far the wolves he had met seemed kind, respectful, and level headed. It was a group of wolves he would be able to fit in well with for the most parts. He wanted to learn more though! His mind itched to know what everyone was like within his new home family. Trying to fit in might be awkward as @Karpos had told him that Hearthwood River was a tight-knit family. Certainly others wouldn't take well to a strange trying to make himself a family member too. Figuring there was only one way to find out the copper hued boy made his way towards the pack den.

His form crept out from redwoods that toward well above him. A den was craved into the ground of one of the tallest trees he had seen in these forest. A bit in shock he took in the sight. Moving forward he let out a light woof. "Hello? Anyone around?" His medium-small form took a seat not too far from the pack den's entrance. "Perhaps a @Naia is around?" He remembered @Kisla telling him to seek the Naia woman out. Claiming she was their finest scout had the yearling over excited to meet her. Even the chance to aide the likely well-seasoned scout had his fur bristle with joy.

"I'm the new wolf, Absyrtus." His sentence was said as though someone was right in front of him. Although he figured even if no one was in front of him someone might find him more welcoming if he introduced himself in the open. A bit of a "I have nothing to hide, come see for yourself." kind of deal.

Orren Baranski
Hurls Orren at @Absyrtus

He made his way swiftly through the woods on quiet, confident paws. A fat, dusty brown rabbit hung from his jowls, the fur around its neck stained with blood. He was getting pretty good at hunting rabbits on his own, though they still managed to escaped him now and again, persistent practice had taught him to be almost silent in the open, dry underbrush of Kingsfall, and to position himself so that he blocked the oblivious victim's route to the safety of the burrow. This one had almost managed to get away though, like many others of its kind, it was resourceful, and had dug several entrances to its tunnel system, and though the aspiring hunter had identified the most well used, and blocked it off, the rabbit had been quick to dart for one of the others. But he was getting quick in his reactions, and a hasty leap had brought him down upon the creature, breaking its bones under his weight. A quick snap of the neck had done the rest, and he had happily taken up his price.

Now he was headed for one of the central caches, one he made doubly sure to always keep well stocked, as it was the nearest one to the den where Kisla still spend most of her time, with the girls. The sound of an unfamiliar voice caught his attention though, and he veered of his path, heading for the shrubby clearing in front of the den. He cleared the last bushes to see a light, coppery yearling sitting in front of the den, seeming to speak with the empty air. Orren paused, tilting his head as he studied the boy. Then after a while, he stepped closer, bowing to place his catch before his large, creamy paws before speaking; "Naia's probably out scouting, I haven't seen her all day." In fact, he had looked for her before heading out to hunt on his own, he much enjoyed teaming up with the lithe woman who had been his teacher ever since he was born; "Don't think much of anyone's about now, on such a lovely day." The black-saddled yearling glanced up at the sky, between the towering treetops, high above. Then he looked back at the other, smiling warmly; "Except us! I'm Orren, nice to meet you."

Absyrtus Selk Lycus Slayer
The sudden voice behind him had the copper yearlong jumping from his seat. Tucking tail he tuened around to see another yearling. This one was rather larger in size. With ear pulled back Absy offered a small smile. "Oh um thank you. Kisla sent me to find and aide her." Looking down at the paws of the large wolf, Absyrtus certainly felt a lot more awkward than usual. He had been so energetic to meet a new friend but this boy was bigger and scarier looking. Maybe it was those piercing fire eyes.

A introduction was given and Absy let his tail wag low. "Nice to meet you. I'm Absyrtus but feel free to call me Abs..or Absy." With warm brown eyes the Lycus-Slayer yearling breathed in deeply. "You wouldn't happen to know how many scouts are in the pack, would you?" It was an off question the Absy would likely have to explain to @Orren.

Orren Baranski

He hadn't meant to scare the smaller boy, so when he jumped from his seat to take a submissive stand, Orren felt bad. He tried not to appear to dominant, wagging his tail eagerly and lowering his own ears to the sides; Oops uhm, what else can I do? He tried to remember the few displays of dominance and submission he had seen in his one year. The second Baranski prince was so used to being the youngest that he had never really paid much attention to his body language, but now that he was a yearling, it might be time for it. The dusty lad was smiling though, despite his fright, and Orren happily beamed back, hoping to dissolve the awkwardness between them.

The lighter pelted yearling explained his inquiry for Naia, and the River prince felt a small stab of jealousy; Why would ma' sent HIM to talk to Naia?! But his curiosity and excitement to meet another wolf his own age quickly drowned out his petty sense of monopoly on his teacher. Instead, he sat down, hoping to soothe the other boy a bit by showing his own calm. The paler copper youth did seem keen on a friendly conversation; Just a bit... Skittish? To the extremely extrovert youth, the idea that someone else might not be so openly enthusiastic was quite unfamiliar, but he had met wolves with a different mindset; indeed he was related to one in particular. So he nodded encouragingly when the boy introduced himself, clarifying the name that had escaped Orren beforehand. It was an unusual calling to the Hearthwood lad's ears, but that only served to make him more curious, and he smiled and nodded again.

Then Absyrtus asked a question that seemed to come out of nowhere, and for a moment the larger yearling was confused, wrinkling his brows lightly. But he remembered that the other had said Kisla send him to seek out Naia, and though Orren wasn't the brightest of wolves, he made the connection. "We have two currently, Absy..?" He used the name a little hesitantly, looking to see if the other was satisfied with his pronunciation and use of the nickname; he liked the way it sounded. "Naia is the leading scout, and Bastet ranks right under her." He smiled warmly, feeling proud of his pack, and happy to be the one to introduce its workings to this new addition. Then tilting his head lightly and cocking a brow he added: "You looking to be a scout too?"

Karina Baranski

Karina wandered the path to her family’s den, the route feeling strange to her after spending so much time with Kjors. With her mentor gone on an errand, the young princess felt otiose and adrift, with no purpose and large amounts of newfound time.  She had gone back to the old tasks that used to keep her so busy, hunting and harvesting medicinal herbs, but the motions now felt just like empty routine. What was the fun of discovering a possible new remedy if she could run to Kjors to tell him about it? With the absence of her tutor, Karina had begun to think about seeking out Lachesis, the healer to which she had been apprenticed. They had grown closer during the journey to Kingsfall, spending the long days together learning from one another. The princess realized with a sinking, guilty feeling that she hadn’t spent any time at all with Lachesis since Kjors joined the pack..

As Karina approached the den she heard Orren’s voice echoing loudly from within, and she nearly turned to leave, feeling reluctant to deal with Orren’s energy right now.  He was talking about Naia with someone, which figured. They were two peas in a pod, him and Naia, both bursting with pep and intensity that the Baranski girl found overwhelming, especially when they were together. A strange voice answered Orren, smaller somehow, perhaps more reserved, and Karina felt herself wandering forward in curiosity. The stranger came into view, a young male that was her size and possibly her age too, though it was difficult to tell from behind. Karina could see Orren’s smoldering gaze blinking from within the den, her appearance behind the stranger catching his attention immediately.

“Hi..” Karina said shyly, speaking in a low tone so as not to startle the newcomer. Her cloudy blue gaze met the stranger’s warm brown eyes, and she looked down at the ground demurely.  She paused so that Orren would introduce the two of them, though really Karina already knew who he was. Word traveled fast in a small pack, and the acceptance of another Slayer into the ranks had been big news for Hearthwood River. What Karina hadn’t known was how young he was, or how friendly his eyes were, or how his unique pelt glowed with warmth, like mud baking in the summer sun.

Night of the 18th! So backdated to her first night arriving >)

The songbird had a mission, before she went out into the scouting realm: to meet more members of the pack, and know them. She supposed the best way to do this was first to know their scents. So Nightingale presently followed them, head tilted to the night sky as she reveled in the strong scent of wood of all sorts, and then the plentiful smell of her—as of this early afternoon—pack mates. The snow had left behind the imprints of their step; some were large, others smaller. Her own? She took a moment to observe, lifting and staring at the impression. It was perfectly in between, neither small nor large.

Her long-legged trot soon took her to where she desired to be. Here the plethora of scents spilled over to the spot, and Nightingale knew she was sure to see another nearby. She herself stopped, dropped, and rolled around so that her own scent would mingle with the rest. Her legs flailed upward as her winter furs dragged against the snow, scent glands heavily at play. Houston, we have a Nightingale.

Inna Baranski

Her journey from the mountain had been much longer than she had wanted with the way she was feeling. Inna had ran nearly all the way back to Hearthwood so afraid there was something terribly wrong with her. She wanted her mom because she knew Kisla could make it better, that was what her mother was best at. Inna also needed to speak with Lachesis, she had news for him. She couldn't wait to tell the healer because it was too important that he know about his son and what she and Aleksei had found on the mountain.

Once she'd found her mother she went in to talk to Lachesis starting with the infirmary den where she could usually find him. Though she did worry he might not be in there and instead on a patrol or hunt. She'd been gone awhile so his routine could have changed in the time she'd been gone, she hoped he might be resting inside. Inna called out to him before sitting back on her haunches. That of course didn't last long as the itch started back up so she thought while she waited for the healer she would run against a nearby tree to see if that might help.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
@Inna

Lachesis spent most of his time hovering around the borders and hiding inside his infirmary, making sure he had everything he needed if there were unexpected puppies this year. With all the females of Hearthwood (aside from his daughter, who was still out on her little expedition) going through heat this spring XIX was trying to avoid them as much as possible. It was going much smoother than he had thought—aside from keeping a watchful eye on the blue-eyed sparrow—for the Baranski women were often outside of river borders. He did not pay attention to what they did or the scents that clung to their pelts when they returned. The ghost was just curious as to whether Hearthwood was going to have a litter this year, as he had begun to doubt the arrival of freshblood. River blood.

Fortunately for Inna he had been hiding inside his den, keeping himself busy, when she called for him. Perplexed, the ghost scrambled out of his den, his brows narrowed in concern as he watched her rubbing her fur against a nearby tree. Oh boy. A smile had rolled onto his pale features, apple-green eyes gleaming with amusement. “Everything alright, Inna?”

Inna Baranski
@Lachesis

She hadn't had much time to stop and really give the itch that seemed to cover her whole body the attention it deserved. The time she spent waiting for Lachesis hadn't been enough time to really make it go away either. The thought that crossed her mind, talking to him about what was going on with her, she felt it would be awkward. When she noticed that he had appeared from wherever it was he'd been hiding she stopped what she'd been doing a little embarrassed. The smile and look of amusement the was evident on his face made her huff with the frustration she felt. “No, it most certainly is not,” she said somewhat curtly.

She then took a deep breath and let it out, she wasn't here to speak in such a way to the healer, “I’ve only just returned and I have some news for you that I thought couldn't wait,” she told him as she stepped toward him. Inna did her best to put what she was currently going through out of her mind to deliver the news that Lachesis needed to hear. She decided to start with, “Kjors is dead,” before going on to state, “Kyrios followed us.”
