Phineas Argyris

She called after him -- his ears slid back to his skull as he took on her final words, questioning on the purpose of the challenge if he planned to breed. He would not reveal to her that he had held no true intention of it this year -- that it would have been likely he would have been fine with their union, had they only sought his thoughts and permission first. At this point, it was nothing but a moot point now, and with a derisive snort, his muzzle swung back over his shoulder, his gaze hard upon them both. "This isn't standing beside me," he called back, his paws sweeping him even further from them. "This is going behind my back."

With that, the Argyris man continued forward, leaving the two behind to their own devices and conversation. They could take what they desired out of the conversation at their own will -- if luck was on his side, their scents would be long faded from his lands by morning. For now, he would not physically remove them.. though the thought had crossed his mind. Chasing both out could prove to eradicate the issue altogether. Yet he could not push aside loyalty so easily -- and Ace, despite this challenge to his authority, had proven himself in the past. Perhaps, moving forward, he would do so again.

Yet if either of them thought their children would be trained for leadership.. they had another thing coming. Celandine, of all of them, would be the most likely to put that thought from their heads before he even had a chance to. With that, the ivory wolf was gone.. the horizon above them all very bleak.

His words would hurt more than she cared to admit or note. She stood strong, stoical as he turned away from them and she made herself a silent promise. I will make it up to him, both of us will. When he was out of earshot she would nuzzle Ace’s neck lightly. “We’ve messed up, I’m sorry.” She would murmur before turning away. She had much to think about and she had duties to the pack same as anyone else. Perhaps she and Ace could talk about it after they had both finished their jobs. There were so many things that Aesire wanted to do, leave was one of those things, but she would not abandon Silent Moon Plateau and she would not leave her children packless when they were born. Surely they would die if that happened.

She knew the struggles of lone wolf adults, and children would be worse than that. Aesire held little ambition to train her children into leaders, because she knew that it was in the cards. She might have been careless and unthoughtful when she conceived these children, but she was not stupid. She knew that every action came with consequences. She also knew that so many of the Argyris children would knock her children down if they got in the way. They would be trained like any other child, but they would hold no daydreams of ruling in Silent Moon Plateau. She would train her kids to lead, but she would make sure they knew that they would have to leave to do so.
