so sorry for the wait <3

As the older, silver male began to move toward the shadow prince his immediate response was to flee and remove himself from the situation as quickly as possible. However, he remained where he was due to the overwhelming curiosity that glued his paws to the soft grass. The stranger did not seem to pose a risk – he did not approach him in a threatening demeanor, nor done anything to worry the slender yearling. It seemed that the little raven was cut from the same cloth as the loner; their preference to silence and physical cues was as obvious as it was pleasant. It was refreshing to come across another who was not focused on so many words and allowed their actions to speak for themselves.

The only part of him that moved were the mercury-coloured orbs in his skull as he observed the loner’s movements as he circled the raven. Although briefly uncomfortable by the unfamiliar interaction, Greer did not let it faze him or show on his face. Instead, as the male finished circling him and appeared at his front, the boy leaned forward and inhaled deeply, storing the male’s scent to memory along with his distinct features. As he reclined back, the boy gave a short nod as the silver loner stepped back to his post, his fiery gaze lingering on the Ridge wolf before he took another step. “Greer,” he said softly with another nod as his lips tightened. He did not offer anything more than his name, and was not even sure if the stranger was going to give his own in return. The prince was not sure what had possessed him to suddenly speak, but something had driven him to share his name before the two parted ways.

@Greer

My wait was worse! Feel free to reply or just archive, about time to wrap this up. Thanks for joining <3

The boy's poker face was experienced, Ziigwan could tell, as the eyes which stared at him clouded the thoughts of the mind behind them. Where he had seen caution before, now the older wolf wasn't sure, and that was both an exciting and scary thing, for unpredictability was not typically friend to lone wolves. Once Ziigwan's circle was complete, however, and his own intentions made clear, the black youth played his cards, leaning forwards to gather information for himself. It was an unbalanced trade, the elder knew, in his own favour. That the trade had happened so neatly was satisfying.

Unpredictability ruled still; having expected that to signal the end of their encounter, Ziigwan was surprised when the silent boy opened his mouth to offer a word - his name, most likely. Ears tipped forward in curiosity, Ziigwan didn't know whether the breaking of their wordless greeting was spoiled or blessed by this change, but it did mean that the boy and his pack couldn't be entirely feral. That was probably for the best, for the past should stay in the past. Watching the other for a moment, the grey wolf let a smile touch his lips before replying, "Ziigwan," in much the same straightforward fashion, as clean an exchange as that which they had previously enjoyed.

With that, his purpose was complete. It would be a shame to risk souring such a pure interaction. Lowering his head in respect - partly due to his acknowledgement of Greer's pack status, which automatically placed him higher on the food chain - Ziigwan took a few steps back, so as to disengage without presenting his rear to the enigmatic youth. Finally turning, with a soft woof akin to that he had initially disrupted the boy's travels, Ziigwan retreated back to his hill. There were cobwebbed memories to muse upon, and a new light with which to view this foreign land.

That was it.

He observed the silver stranger with a patient gaze, his lips drawn tight as he studied the muscles shifting in the male’s maw as his expression changed. The calm demeanor the loner radiated was welcoming, along with his silent approach. It was refreshing to encounter another who preferred to keep their mouth still; most loners ran their mouths with a series of questions that Greer was reluctant to answer. While curiosity burned furiously within him, Greer kept his inquiries to himself. Perhaps, if there was a second run-in with the pale loner, the slender shadow would allow more words to fall from his tongue—but now wasn’t the time. He did not want to taint what he considered the ‘perfect’ encounter.

A name was spoken, followed by a quick nod from Greer. Offering his own smile in return, the boy observed Ziigwan as he stepped back from the shadow prince. With a small woof and a dip of his head, the silver loner retreated to his hill. Filled with nothing but questions, Greer pushed them aside to offer his own woof before returning to his former path. Unsure of where he was headed, he reluctantly continued forward. Perhaps they would meet again; maybe they wouldn’t. The future was a fickle thing, always so uncertain. Either way, the shadow was thankful for their meeting in all its simplicity.
