White Fir Notch Keeping Up My End

{ooc}For @Gent.  Takes place later in the same day as This thread.

Emrys was glad to be crossing the borders after trying to get back to Notch lands as quickly as possible.  It had taken most of the day through difficult if not dangerous terrain to get back before dark but he had made it.  After he was safely back in pack lands he made his way through the trees to where he could find Gent.  He had to speak with him about the conversation he'd had earlier in the day since it could be so important to the pack.

He didn't know what Gents reaction would be to this revelation but he hoped for a good one.  Emrys didn't want the alpha to be angry with him for taking the opportunity that had been presented and he had been careful to not make any promises.  He bounded as quickly as he could through the trees and snow until he reached the area near the communal den. He hoped the dark leader was nearby so that he wouldn't have to wait too much longer.  His side's heaved when he finally came to a stop but he was able to call out for Gent before finally taking a few moments to catch his breath.

Gent was indeed not far off. When Emrys' call went out, he immediately set off to find the other man. While not yet alarmed, he was certain the would-be medic was summoning him for something important. Emrys was a wolf of composure, self sufficient and conservative. He wouldn't howl for any silly old thing. No time was wasted as he picked up his pace into a light jog, plowing easily through the drifts of snow that existed between them.

When he found the man, a cursory glance ensured Gent that he'd been right not to let the summons trigger any anxiety within him. Aside from being mildly winded, Emrys didn't seem panicked. So his pace slowed until he stopped before the pale wolf, nodding in acknowledgement.

"Yes, Emrys?"

He'd been outside of the territory, Gent had known that. So what had he run into out there that had brought him running back straight to his alpha?

Upon returning to White Fir Notch Emrys didn't waste any time in calling for Gent. What he had to tell him was important and couldn't wait, it was something that could help the pack dramatically. Of course that all depended on what his alpha thought of the idea. Emrys felt he might not be as good at hunting as Jynx was but if he could secure this food for his pack, she could do all the hunting she wanted.

It didn't take very long for Gent to reach him, in fact he had not yet had time to catch his breath from running all the way back through the snow. The look that was given to him by the dark furred man told Emrys he was curious about why he'd been called. The healer didn't waste any time explaining the situation to Gent so he could get it all out to ensure a well informed decision could be made.

“I was hunting outside the border around Nightingale palisade and I ran into a wolf from Wild Rye Fields. He wanted to help improve pack relations by discussing access to the Caribou in the lowlands.” Emrys explained the important issue but he also had to add, “I didn't think it would hurt to hear him out so I let him lay out what he had in mind.”Emrys then gave Gent some time to process what he'd just told him. He was rather nervous considering he was so new to the pack and though he felt he was doing his job he wasn't sure if Gent would see it that way.

Wild Rye Fields. The name made his ears perk, interest heightening with every word. That was, until the caribou were brought up. Gradually, Gent's expression changed from openness to suspicion. Discuss? What was there to discuss? They'd already come to an agreement, hadn't they? Was Drestig going to renege now that the winter season was pressing in? Pale eyes narrowed, he tried to remember to gather more details before making his judgment.

"We've already settled that our pack will continue to hunt the caribou without trouble. Has that changed?"

If it had, there wouldn't be any hearing them out. Gent already didn't have much patience for the grizzled leader. Pulling a fast one like this would be an insult he wouldn't live down.

Emrys did not miss the perk of Gents ears nor the change in expression after Emrys explained about Askan and what he had brought to the healer. This change worried the healer as he wondered if he might have made a mistake in speaking with this wolf or even believing anything he had said. However, Emrys had felt that Askan had been truthful with him, he found this rather interesting though it did worry him.

“A previous arrangement wasn't mentioned by this wolf nor was a change in the arrangement. He did however speak of a meeting that became a little tense and you were worried about the access being cut off. He also said that his alphas wanted to live in peace so didn’t want our access cut off. He spoke about heading east or west instead of straight across the palisade so there isn't a chance to run into Whitestone Monadnock. He expressed that the journey time wouldn't increase.” he explained not knowing if it would help the alpha at all. Emrys wondered if the previous arrangement might have to do with heading straight across the palisade.

“If you would like I can find out if the arrangement has been changed?” He offered. Emrys had no plans to hold anything back from his dark furred alpha so a trip to the fields to speak with Askan or even his alpha would be something he’d be willing to do if it cleared this mess up.
