Triell Tainn
Pack Claiming @Naira @Leotie @Kerberos @Maera

I'll be the bright, and black, that's making you run

The past few days he had been often wandering the lengths of the Wildwood. They needed a real place to stay, and it was here he planned to find it. In his trips he often had company of family, or friends. Sometimes they simply went for a drink, or to track down a meal. There wasn't a place that called to him.

Today when the faint light of morning trickled through the trees he could not sleep. He untangled himself from the others, and stepped out into the mist. A long breath pulled in, and slowly released. No one and nothing had come by. He stood, taking in the silence, looking upon their group. He almost wished for a few more faces to be there as he often did when they gathered together to ward out the cold. At least everyone here wanted to be. Reiko and Treyah finally seemed to be liking the west, and realizing it was a great bigger world than the Bend had ever offered. A sigh, he set at a brisk trot. He was going to wander a new path today, he just wouldn't know that yet.

Blood pumping in his legs, dark coat bristled, he followed one of the many meanderings of a deer path. This one taking him farther north where the fire had scorched the land. It was easy for the memories of the Tainns long gone to reach him, along with the friends he'd share this place with. Should he let those things go? Sometimes he wondered.

Suddenly, he realized he wasn't alone. He whipped his head around to see he hadn't gotten away so quietly.

Kerberos Rigel
He always appreciated the extra warmth that came from the other wolves he and Maera had grouped with. Granted he always tucked himself in close to the Slayer woman he sometimes took a spot next to Reiko or Treyah. Already Kerberos had grown fond of the children. Truly he had grown fond of everyone here. They all seemed to get along fairly well.

He had rolled partially in his sleeping. The tawny male didn't notice anything at first, the ground was warm there but no one was present. Perhaps it was from his own warmth. Just to make sure Maera or one of the kids hadn't crept away he slowly opened his eyes. Reiko, Treyah, Maera, Leotie, and Naira but no Triell. Kerberos knew he was a grown man and could handle himself but it was awfully early to be out and about. Quietly getting to his feet he nosed at Maera's cheek. "Triell isn't sleeping." He whispered softly to make sure he didn't alarm anyone else who might be waking. "I'm gonna make sure he's okay, feel free to keep sleeping though." His salmon tongue ran across her crown as he slipped out of the den.

The Rigel followed after a deer trail that mingled with Triell's scent. Kerberos really hoped the father wasn't intending to hunt on his own. Setting out at a brisk pace he came upon one of the more charred areas of the Wildwood. His pale eyes looked around for the dark man. When he did spot the Tainn, Kerberos could have sworn he fit in so well. "Hey Triell?" The young male's voice was soft and friendly per usual. "Everything alright? I just noticed you were missing and thought it was a bit earlier than usual for you.." He casually approached Triell as his tail was held low and wagged. Kerberos respected the man well enough to stay neutral or submissive around him, even in normal interactions.

Maera Slayer

The Slayer woman had almost managed to doze off after stirring when she heard the soft words directed at her, feeling his nose press against her cheek and the absence of warmth next to her as he himself got up, her eyes slowly dragging themselves open just in time to see Kerb’s flank heading out of the den, her nose twitching as she let out a soft yawn, looking around. Treyah. Reiko. Naira. Leotie… The now familiarly dark form of Triell was lacking, and her curiosity started to run wild with the possibilities as to where he could have gone. It was enough to have the chocolate woman pushing herself up and carefully padding after them, trying not to disturb the others.

It was early, that much she knew but then again sleep hadn’t been easy on her in a long time. Her mind had often raced in the past with worry, fear, perhaps unfiltered emotions that presented themselves as more worry and more fear… but those had eased since she’d been by herself, and sleep had come easier to her, lasted longer with her. She’d never say having others to rely on, just as they relied on her, was a bad thing, nor had it made her lazy. No, lazy would never do, and that was one gun she had managed to stick to.

She managed to catch up to her mate with a couple quick strides, gently butting his shoulder with her head before falling into a pace right beside him, not a word out of her, though the look in her eyes spelled out her thoughts almost perfectly. What was going on? Where was Triell going? She was eager to find out. She remained by his side as Kerberos spoke – he was always the better talker of the two, and she wasn’t too shy as to admit that. He was the bark, and she was the bite… that was, when it was necessary. The scent of deer hit her nose too, previously she’d been distracted by Triell’s scent mixed with Kerb’s… but it hit her then and she let a soft grin onto her features. Mae’s tail held a soft wag, showing no lenience in either submission nor dominance – it was not needed, in her mind. Pack ideals were lost on her, as she’d never been a part of one before. It was definitely going to be a learning curve once it was declared.

Fresh meat.

Leotie Rhys

They had been in and around The Wildwood for what seemed a long time so long in fact that it was starting to feel like home but it wasn't. At least not in the sense that Oak Tree Bend was or the home she had with her humans. They were a group of wolves who cared about each other, that's how they were home for her. Recently they had even added two more into their group who though she didn't know well seemed to be good additions. Things were looking up for the group that had crossed the mountains after leaving the home they had known for so long. At least it was what Leotie believed since she didn't anything bad to happen to anyone she was with.

Laying close to Rieko with her head buried against him for their shared warmth Leotie had been trying to sleep. It wouldn't come to her so easily which it sometimes didn't ever since she has come to live in the lore. Her ear twitched slightly as she heard the sound of someone getting up but then she heard another. Deciding it was no use trying to sleep when she knew she couldn't Leotie too rose to her feet.

Before moving away from the group she noticed that Kerb, Maera and Triell weren't there which was interesting. Even more interesting was that their scents seemed to intertwine as they moved away from everyone else. Leotie decided to follow out of curiosity. Down the deer path she traveled until it brought her to a more Charred area of the forest. It was there she found the two of them, “Hello,” she said looking between them, “I was just wondering if you might need anything?”

Reiko Tainn
He was deep asleep, and dreaming of hunting elk with Kerb. Sometimes his lips twitched in his sleep when he snarled at the creature or was about to try to take a bite. He was certainly capable of sleeping a lot longer. There was nothing he wanted for.

The loss of Leotie against him made his eyes flicker open, forcefully blinking to wake his mind, and bring it to the present. "What?" He mumbled, thinking someone had said something. By then there was only Naira, Treyah, and himself. Brown forehead creased, so this was how it was? Everyone just tiptoed out without a word? He saw no reason for it. Wasn't like it was a special day.

Well, he would be nice and instantly began shoving his nose into the side of Treyah's muzzle. "Trey, move your butt! Dad and everyone's up to something." For good measure he gave her a wet lick. See her sleep through that!

It was more thoughtful, he leaned to his mother. Nudging her shoulder. "Mum, mum." Come on woman. He was sure she couldn't sleep either. When he felt he had accomplished his goal, he hurriedly set on their trail. When he caught up he wasn't sure what was going on. They were all looking at dad. There was another scent, something that made his stomach gurgle.

Treyah Tainn

It was so warm, she was so comfortable, but then one by one the bodies around her stole away the warmth like a flailing blanket-hog. When her brother's cold, wet nose assaulted her muzzle, his wet, slobbery tongue dragging over her face her muzzle wrinkled and teeth clicked in his direction in annoyance, but then her mother was nudging her too, more insistently in the hip. Her paws lifted to cover her eyes and save her any more attacks from her brother but a tug on her tail was the final straw.

She rose with a huff and a grumble, not bothering to wait for the other two to join her because she knew they would follow. She shook as she walked, eyes turning to the sky and jaws parting to better catch the scent of their companions. There was something else on the breeze though, something that made her salivate. Food. The girl charged forward, bumping past those who had risen before her to walk at her fathers side. The earth began to rise up on either side of her but she paid it no mind as she trekked up hill following the footprints in the snow. Even the blackened trunks of trees hardly registered to the near-yearling.

Up on the mountain, Down in the king's lair
Naira

Half-lidded eyes watched as the others moved out one by one, leaving her huddled with the children. Well, she supposed she'd best get up and join them then. Before she had a chance to raise her head, Reiko was attacking his sister and calling her name, a grumble answered as she began to work on easing out the aches and pains from her joints. Noticing Treyah doing her best to get a sleep in, she reached out and tugged on the girl's tail. It was enough to get her moving and Naira indicated that @Reiko should follow her, and she would be along in time.

While the others may have been looking down, the older wolf was looking up, at the branches of the trees overhead. She noted the charred trunks of ash and the scarred lower halves of spruce with their ratty missing branches, but among them newer trees had taken root. Familiar trees that, if her memory served right, would be covered with white flowers in the summer (hadn't her parents denned beneath one when she was young?). "Huh." She huffed to herself with a smile, finally joining the congregation, a tip of her chin pointing up at the smaller trees among the old burned forest, "I didn't know there were dogwoods here."

@Naira @Leotie @Kerberos @Maera you guys want to keep them moving :3 can't post Reiko till later.

I'll be the bright, and black, that's making you run

Orange-yellow eyes drifted over to the silvery wolf, and his dark companion. They were different, yet in a good way that complimented each other. A smirk parted his lips in amusement, and his  tail gave a slow beat. Their concern, and perhaps interest were not lost on him. "Couldn't sleep." He offered for explanation. Ready to take it one step further, when Leotie's voice reached out, catching his attention. Dark muzzle tipped, he spied Reiko, and Naira as well. He didn't mind they had all woken, eager to see where he was going or up to.

An ear tipped back, and briefly his eyes roved the treeline, lifting to the sky. "How about we all see where this leads today? Haven't been up this draw, and there's a promise of deer." He turned to look upon the group. Where was? Then he saw her tawny figure drifting to his side. He smiled to his daughter. Already on the hunt. No trace of fear. He wasn't about to discourage her.

Naira's comment, he paused."Me either," he admitted, noting the trees she indicated. Then met her gold stare with a smile. He'd never really known there was such a kind, and he wondered if they grew where she had come from. Something familiar of her home.

"Shall we before Trey beats us?" He chuckled. Then began to pick up his pace, the deer's trail ascending between two ridges.

Kerberos Rigel
More followed in after Maera and himself. But he still acknowledged Triell's answer. "Sorry, I understand though." Kerberos offered a smile to the larger man. He quickly focused on Leotie who had arrived fairly fast. Kerberos was truthfully as keen on wanting to know the answer to Leotie's question as herself that his eyes simply drifted to the large Tainn.

The other three showed up, Naira and the two children, with their own jumble of words. Pale yellow eyes watched as Treyah happily went along without a care in the world. She was certainly a spitfire. Kerberos was content when Reiko lingered closer to him as Naira and Triell chatted about trees. "Hey Reiko, smell that?" The Rigel leaned away from Maera for a moment to lightly bump his nose against the large child's shoulder. "It's food. Your sister might beat us if she keeps hauling like that." Kerberos laughed lightly before taking follow after Triell but making sure Maera would still be close by.

He kept up a good pace and made sure no one was too far behind. Kerberos had faith in Naira, especially after seeing her on a riffle with almost no issues. Not to mention surely her and Triell would take care of each other if need be.
