Drestig Avalon
Joint hunt between WRF & HR, as previously discussed
@Jessie @Sphinx @Chimera @Adelayde @Neko @Aleksei @Laike @Lachesis @Lilya @Inna @Anastasia @Aytigin @Matheo @Lilliana

The full moon had come and gone, meaning it was finally time to carry out the long agreed upon plan. This was actually a thing the elderly alpha had been looking forwards to, for the sake of the alliance as well as the hopeful outcome. It would also be the first chance for the Fields’ pups to experience a big hunt, an important step as they would soon be required to help the pack forage for the winter. They would not be allowed near any big prey that wasn’t thoroughly incapacitated today of course, but it was a crucial step, for them to watch the adults in action. So it was with a bright smile, and ignoring the stiffness in his old joints, that Drestig Avalon awoke his family and led them out into the Lowlands.

It was quite a hike to the Antler Ring, where they had agreed to meet, but it was the best landmark, approximately midway between the two packs. Once there, they would rest, waiting for the River wolves to arrive. Meanwhile, Drestig would take a seat beside the strange arrangement of bone, gazing out over the open reaches. Herds moved as tiny, dark dots in the distance, gathering for the cold season. One of them would serve excellently for the hunt, as soon as they were all gathered they could pick out a fitting target - it certainly was nice not having to worry about numbers for once; If they come...

Anastasia Starklen

There was a lot to focus on in the coming months, but she kept her head high and tried to blend into the River's on-goings. If anything, she just wanted to be there for them and help out when called upon. It was much easier to blend into the background of a somewhat bustling pack rather than to seek out the spotlight. So when she came along the Lowlands (which was quite an unfamiliar territory) she quickly saw someone and hoped that this was who they were supposedly meeting up with for a joint hunt. It had been a long time but she approached carefully, cautiously but with a friendly demeanor. "Hello," was all she could muster as she pursed her lips, ears turned and twitched as she looked around to see if anyone else would come along. Otherwise, she might just have the wrong fellow.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
tag for @Reid as well

He had almost forgotten about the hunt agreement. Lilya had fallen ill, which meant in between his patrols the sinewy ghost was tending to his mate and keeping their children away from her so they wouldn’t be at risk. A single sick wolf he could handle—he didn’t want the rest of the pack to get infected. Not so close to winter. The colder months were also why it was so important to participate in the joint hunt. Last winter had been hard on the river wolves—and all of Relic Lore. He wanted to be as prepared as possible, especially since their numbers had dwindled in the recent months.

Lachesis led the pack along the stretch of tundra between the Fields and the towering redwoods of Hearthwood. He allowed some wolves to scout ahead of him, for he was keeping a watchful eye on the children. The ghost did not worry about whether they would be successful or not—with so many of them, there was no reason for them not to be.

Anastasia had arrived first, her pale figure a beacon in the distance. His pace quickened, a lazy smile stretched across his features as he approached Drestig, his posture relaxed. “Drestig,” he greeted with a small dip of his head, “it’s good to see you.” He glanced over at the blue-eyed dove, the tip of his tail wagging gently. She seemed to be in much better spirits since she returned to the Lore, which he was pleased to see. Hopefully this hunt would continue to break her out of her shell.

Inna Baranski

Since returning from her trip Inna had been staying close to Hearthwood and focusing on her daughter. Catching her up in her training in hunting and patrolling as well as other things she needed to know to survive on her own. Oksana was what she lived for these days, her pup was what matter and her success whether it was in the pack or not. Inna was completely prepared for the day her daughter would leave her just as her siblings had left Kisla.

Her feelings on Hearthwood had become more muddied especially since the day Alek had come. She wasn't sure where she stood with it any longer but she knew it didn't feel much like home anymore. As she and Oksana followed behind Lachesis she bumped her daughter and offered her a smile.

They soon reached the meeting place to find Anastasia already there and a wolf she hadn't met but she knew he was from the fields, Lachesis called him Drestig. Inna had heard the name before. She offered the man a polite bow before taking her place at Lachesis flank where she made sure Oksana behaved appropriately and was prepared to explain things as necessary.

Aleksei Baranski
Aleksei was jogging back to the Antler Ring—he had been scouting out for the caribou herds, ready to bring the news of a sighting to Drestig immediately, and had spied the beasts grazing not too far from the designated meeting location. Lucky him.

“Drestig,” he barked out as the wolves gathered so far finally came into view, “they’re not too far from here—it shouldn’t take too long to get closer.” A ten minute jog had brought Aleksei back here, and he very much doubted that the large herbivores would have suddenly decided to sprint off into the vast tundra. Even if they had, tracking their scents wouldn’t be hard at all. “Good numbers, ripe for the picking.”

His eyes glanced down, to the sight of rabbit tracks, and a smile briefly crossed his features. Tonight, they would be promised a far more filling meal.

Oksana Baranski

The pup wasn't sure what to think of her mother's behavior since her return. They had spent a lot of time together with lots of lessons and they had started talking late into the night before bed. Oksana was elated to have her mother back safe and sound and she seemed liked the same old Inna when they were by themselves. Still something seemed off to the pup, maybe she was waiting for things to go bad again, she didn't know. She just remembered that one day her mum had seemed fine and the next she wasn't.

None of that mattered as she followed her mother and Lachesis across the Lowlands. She didn't know what they were doing and hoped she would find out soon enough, she was just glad that she was with her mum this time. She became more curious when they came to where a strange man was standing and the Lachesis spoke to him. Oksana pressed her nose against her mother's shoulder which received her a lick to her crown and a nudge to let her know to settle down. So Oksana did as she was told but she couldn't help inching forward a little to investigate this stranger. As another man she didn't know came up talking about herds, a glance was given to her mother before trying to sniff at him too.

Adelayde Artemieva
PP approved by Becca for Laike's arrival with Ade

Straying towards the back of the group though sticking close to Laike, the tawny beta kept a watchful eye upon the pups as they traveled across the barren lowlands with the rest of the Rye. Ade was going to make sure none of them strayed far as she was sure their mother was observing them as well. The more eyes on them the better. Though as they drew closer to the Antler Ring, the established meeting place for the Rye and River wolves, the second trotted ahead with Laike to take a place alongside Drestig as the River wolves started arriving.

With Laike alongside her, the Snow woman gave a polite smile to all that had gathered around the peculiar ring of antler sheds. She arrived just in time, settling alongside Drestig, to hear news from Aleksei about the surrounding herds. "Lachesis, nice to see you again," she said with a bright smile, making it a point to greet Lachesis as she felt guilty when Laike arrived at the rye borders to be with her instead of devoting his loyalty to the River any longer. Though the pale Artemieva made sure to mentioned he left on good terms with the River alpha, the beta still couldn't help thinking Lachesis resented her for taking him away from Hearthwood.

Laike Artemieva

LAIKE ARTEMIEVA

He silently trailed by Adelayde's side through the whole trip. Most of the time he spent a keen eye on the children and making sure there were no outside threats to the group. He knew there was plenty of them to take something on but that didn't mean he wanted to. No point in going and getting injured before the hunt began.

When they closed in the familiar feature of Lachesis was noticeable, causing a grin to tug on his inky lips. His companion was quick to verbally greet him but Laike simply dipped his head. Laike had never needed to talk much with the ghostly male to get his message across. Perhaps that was why his friendship(?) meant the most.

The stocky male settled down next to Adelayde, close enough to let their fur mingle but not being any more of an overbearing presence. He was content to stay silent until directions were given.

Lavender Stark

The alabaster Stark trailed moodily behind her father, a deep frown etched into her pale features. Hunting was not something she had practiced much of, nor did she think she was very good at it. Practice, her parents kept telling her. Practice practice practice. She almost rolled her eyes at the thought, but she knew it was sound advice. She couldn’t get better unless she kept practicing. But the drive to practice was what was lacking.

Occasionally, as they walked, she would bump shoulders with her sister, her chartreuse eyes holding a devilish glint. Part of her was excited—especially to meet some of their neighbours. Lavender typically stayed close to the Kingswood, for the openness of the lowlands worried her. She felt safe beneath the sweeping canopy of the redwoods. Out in the tundra she was so exposed.

It did not take them long to catch up to Anastasia and the Fields pack. Her curious gaze swept over the wolves huddled around the ring of antlers, her interest spiking. There was a familiar face among them—Laike. So this was where he had gone. She knew that his departure had upset her father, but Lachesis had assured her his leaving was for a good reason. Something about chasing a girl, being happy. Blah, blah. Whatever—she was happy for him too. She flashed him a bright smile, her tail wagging softly behind her as she sauntered up to her father’s side.
