'somewhere only we know' by keane
It had been around mid-afternoon when Lorcan had begun to lead Piety up the western side of the mountain. The male had given her no clue or reason why she should follow him up the precarious snow covered slopes, just that she had to. A knowing grin had spread across his charcoal lips to entice her, and the playful glimmer in his bright golden eyes promised that @Piety would be in for a treat if she did not put up a fuss and followed after him.

Taking the trek at a steady and comfortable pace, Lorcan made sure to stay close beside the pale female as they made the ascent up the mountain. Their fur brushed together gently as they travelled side by side, teasing each other with their warmth as they journeyed through freezing winds. Only when they were forced to scale a narrow rocky path did Lorcan break away and move forwards to inspect it, before taking care to guide Piety along the safest looking route.

The sun had started to set by the time they reached the top of the mountain. They had been fortunate enough to make it to their destination before the daylight disappeared entirely. Lorcan gave a curious wave of his tail as he advanced his way slowly through a particularly narrow trail, which was bordered on both sides by large high rocks. The agouti male gave a soft sigh in relief as he stepped out onto a snow covered plateau, one which provided the most spectacular view over the surrounding territories.

Smiling back towards Piety, he gestures for her to join him as he settled down to sit in the snow to enjoy the view. “I thought we could start the evening by watching the sunset together…” Lorcan explained, his voice warm and quiet as he waited for Piety to sit beside him. “We shouldn’t have long to wait.” He assured her with a smile.

She followed him without fuss. Although, she was rather curios where he could be leading her to. Their path was one that seemed to scale up the mountain in the chilling winds. Faithful with Lorcan as her guide, the pale female kept up with his pace.

Her tail swished behind her easily when they seemed to reach a stopping point. Brown eyes took in the view before she moved herself forward to settle by the healer's side. "Start the night?" She smiled softly before she gave a soft bump to his shoulder. "Do you have a whole night planned out for us?" Piety wouldn't mind one bit if he did but she certainly was curious.

The dove's gaze returned back to their view, though. She was beyond eager to enjoy something so easy going. Not to mention it had been some time since she had enjoyed some sky gazing with Lorcan. Things had gotten messy between the two but it seemed like time apart had cleaned up the mess for the duo.

Lorcan’s smile grew into an excited grin as @Piety question him and a single white brow rose playfully. “Mmhm.” He confirmed, before leaning over to press his dark nose to her warm cheek affectionately and wrap his thick tail around behind her in an attempt to keep the female warm.

At her the female’s follow up question, Lorcan tipped his head to one side, his golden gaze swimming with promise as he eyed her. “Maybe. You’ll just have to wait and see…” Lorcan might have been treating her, but that didn’t mean that he would let Piety off easily. The male was determined to keep his plans for them to himself.

As the female turned her gaze to the view of the distant mountain peaks and all they lay beneath them, Lorcan observed her for a moment with a smile. It was his hope that the evening would allow Piety to relax and enjoy herself, even if just for a few hours, whilst she was in his company. “Tell me if you get too cold, okay?” He said softly, nibbling her ear gently. “We can always move back towards the rocks if you do.” It would be more sheltered there, with less exposure to the freezing wind.

Focusing back on the view, Lorcan watched as the sun began to descend, turning the sky a mixture of warm reds, pink and oranges. “Beautiful isn’t it?” The male side glanced Piety then, his russet ears tilted in her direction. “When was the last time you got to enjoy a view like this?”

She accepted his affectionate touch. It felt foreign to the pale woman as he brain still figured that was a kind of touch reserved for Wraith. Briefly, she felt smothered but did her best to let the feelings roll away. Lorcan was being rather sweet and she had no intentions of ruining the evening with sour memories.

"Better be worth it." The Santoro teased softly. She didn't mind being snagged for an evening. More specifically an evening that didn't require truly working. She knew she was wearing herself thin but she couldn't help it. Busy paws left little time for her mind to wander to the bad things that had happened.

Piety briefly leaned into the healer with a small smile. "Of course." Her voice barely reached above a whisper. "And you'll let me know if you get too cold?" A brow raised as she looked over at Lorcan. Arctic heritage blessed her with thick fur during the colder seasons and she did not want to make Lorcan feel as though he had to sit in the cold with her.

The pale female focused on the colors that seemed to layer and blend in the sky. It was a glorious scene and one well worth the climb. Down in the woods she could barely see through all the thick foliage. She would have sat in the silence forever, soaking in the views, had her company's voice not shattered the silence. "I don't remember." The answer was a lie for she recalled gazing on top of the gold-veined boulders being affectionately groomed by the large Kael. But what kind of company would she be if she went on about a passed on love?

In response to Piety’s teasing comment, Lorcan turned his head to face her, his smile less playful and more sincere this time. “It will be…” He assured her warmly. At last, the male certainly hoped it would be worth their trek up the side of the mountain.

The sun was already playing its part by diving down towards the horizon, setting the sky on fire. In a few hours it would be dark, and Lorcan would have to wait and see whether his plan would paid off.

Leaning back in towards Piety, feeling her warmth against his side, he heard her return his own question to him. The agouti male nodded, golden eyes glancing away from the view of the setting sun to meet her warm brown gaze. “Okay, I promise.” He agreed quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. Secretly though, Lorcan would do his best to ignore the freezing winds and biting cold, choosing to ruffle up his fur and huddle up close to the female before he even thought about suggesting that they move to some place more sheltered.

This evening was about her after all, and as long as Piety was happy and enjoying herself, that was all that mattered to the healer.

A silence fell between them both for a while, as they both watched the sun descend down from the sky. Gradually the warm red, oranges and pinks were replaced with deeper purples as darkness began to move in around them. When Piety told him that she couldn’t remember the last time she had enjoyed the sunset, Lorcan didn’t comment. Instead he offered the pale female a small smile and focused his attention back on the view. He didn’t want to ruin the experience by talking too much.

There was a noticeable drop in the temperature as the sun finally disappeared beyond the horizon. The male glanced across to check that Piety was okay as he himself puffed up his fur to keep warm.

Piety Santoro

She was content to stay silent and watch the colors change in the sky. Gently she leaned into him as the temperature dropped. Truthfully, she forgot sometimes just how cold the lands could get once the sun disappeared. She supposed the view was all worth it. Especially up at this elevation.

"What did you have planned for once the sun went down?" Her voice was soft but still loud enough for him to hear it. She had no interests in sharing their plans with any snoopers or passer-bys. Especially if Lorcan had gone out of his way to plan a whole night just for them. It was flattering honestly.

The pale female stood up momentarily to stretch her limbs. Her pose taking on a bow before she stood up again and moved to his other side in a slow circle. A smile tugged at her worn features as brown eyes focused on the masked face of Lorcan.

Russet ears perked up and tilted towards the pale female who was lounging at his side. At her question Lorcan raised his brows. “Well,” He began with a soft smile and a thump of his tail against the snow. “I was thinking that we could stay here and star gaze for a while,” The agouti male informed her with a curious tilt of his head. “and then head back for some food? I managed to catch two hares this morning, so I thought we could eat them together.”

Lorcan looked to @Piety then, a hopeful look in his golden eyes. The male was desperate to know what she thought of his plans for them both, now that she knew what they were. He remained silent, his expression falling neutral, as he watched the pale female stretch. As she slowly stepped around to his other side, his head turned to follow, his golden gaze anxiously waiting to catch hers once more.

When Piety smiled at him, Lorcan wagged his tail, though an anxious whine whistled up past his charcoal lips. “Uh-Unless you’re bored already? We don’t have to stay here, we can walk back now if you want?” He offered, his pale brows furrowing awkwardly. He had thought that Piety would have enjoyed the plans he had made for their evening, but if she wasn't, there wasn't much point in them sitting out in the cold for any longer than they had to.
