The way along the mountain was far more crowded than she remembered. There was the pack that lived amongst the charred forest and those who were somewhere above the fog-ridden forest that were both novel to the woman, and who knew how many new additions topped the range itself. There was nothing to say that the East wasn't completely overcrowded, and she would be leading her little band into a place that had no room for them.
It was a gamble, and the older Nineva grew, the less inspired she felt to take her chances. At this point, there was little choice, however. Whatever awaited them past those ice-capped peaks, she would have to make the best of it. For herself, her followers, and her unborn children.
With a soft sigh, she put her nose back to work, and continued on, assessing the lay of the land for its ease of travel, or lack thereof.
