Turtleback Lake Will it be the day? [BWP]

@Aurek and special mention to @Jynx sunny and warm.

The yearling dipped his head down to the water to lap up a few gulps. Their journey had not been easy with the increase in coyote activity. With it being just he and Aurek it was safer to avoid the large bands of them than to face them head on. He'd made the decision to head back North in hopes that maybe with the warmer weather he would have a better chance of finding his parents since he'd yet done so. He had all but given up in finding them.

That was what had ended them up at turtleback lake once more. It was a place that he actually knew and he knew that his father had come there in the past. Perhaps he still did and Elyan might catch him or find a trace of his scent. It was really a far fetched dream but he wasn't sure what else to do besides giving up. When he'd had his fill of water he turned to Aurek with water dripping from his maw, “What do you think of staying here for a few days?” He asked running his tongue across his lips. He wanted  his companions thoughts since he usually checked in with him for his opinions. They were in this together.

The pale boy joined his friend by the lake shore, dipping his fore legs into water, his gaze wandering across the water over to the distant shore on the other side. Least there was water here. With the summer heat Aurek was finding himself more often graving for water than food. A whole lake certainly would solve that issue. He was about to ask if they could stay here least for rest of the day when Elyan suddenly made the same request.

Aurek's eyes turned at his friend, a brow raising slightly. A grin then formed on his face and he half laughing it away agreed. "I was just about to ask the same.". That was almost spooky coincidence. Aurek did find it outright amazing that he and Elyan had managed to agree on almost everything throughout their journey together.

His eyes turned towards the lake once more, Aurek watching the scene before him with wonder. "Do you know where we are now?" -he asked. It felt like Elyan had brought them here purposefully.

After his drink the yearling looked out across the water. It felt like it had been many years since his last visit to the lake. He wondered if Hawthorne was still close by, perhaps he would go to speak with her once they had rested a few days by the water. He thought it best for the two since they had been traveling so much. Some time by the water might allow them the chance to catch something worthwhile.

His head turned once more to Aurek and again it seemed they were on the same wavelength. “Then I guess it's settled. We can rest here for a few days, maybe have some good hunting and regain our strength.” That was in his opinion rather easy but he wouldn't argue it. Now he would have the chance to visit Hawthorne as he did miss his friend and he didn't know if she knew about the notch.

Elyan's attention was infe again drawn to Aurek as his friend asked about where they were. “I do, this lake is called Turtleback lake. We aren't far from the mountain now.” It was all the information he currently had in the area.

Indeed it was settled then. Both boys agreed they should rest here for a while and source of water was great during these hot summer days. Aurek hummed at his friends words, agreeing to each and every one of his points. When he named the lake, the pale boy briefly turned his gaze to the water... and it gave him idea. A mischievious smirk briefly appeared on Aurek's face, his canine teeth showing slightly. It did every time he had something mean planned and pretty much only warning Elyan had before something happen. A hint to what he was planning came with his question. "Can you swim?"

If he'd known the answer ahead of time, Aurek would have propably pushed his friend to water already - provided Elyan did know how to swim. He did not want to be responsible of his friend drowning of course, and thus he asked. Of course, if his friend was smart enough, he might in turn fool Aurek by telling no.

He loved playing with Elyan.

Elyan didn't remember the previous summer being as hot as the current one. He felt the lake would provide a perfect sanctuary from the heat. It would allow them to cool off when they became too hot and provide plenty of water for them to drink. They might even be able to practice their fishing which could provide them with plenty of food for the time they were there.

Lately he had been spending more time looking for his parents, now that he’d reached a year old they needed to know he was okay. For the moment he pushed the thoughts about his parents aside when Aurek asked him about swimming. “I haven't ever tried to be honest,” he said as he looked out across the water thoughtfully. “Now would be a good time to try my paw at it,” Since they were staying at the lake and all.

The young white man grinned mischiviously as he watched his friend glance over the water, seemingly lost in thought for a brief moment. This was the moment. Aurek seized it.

"I agree" - was about all the warning the pale boy was going to give to his friend. He charged, fully intending to buck Elyan into water, perhaps even join him for the fun. It has been while since there had been a proper wrassling match between the two and Aurek wasn't planning to spare his buddy from water now that opportunity presented itself.

Some day - Aurek thought, Elyan was gonna grow tired to his jests and finally snap at him, but as long as he endured, there was always little bit banter and mischief coming from this young jester.

Elyan hadn't had much chance to learn to swim after having left home at such a young age to find his sister. Looking out across the water he did have to wonder how much he'd actually missed out on, what his parents might have taught him.

It seemed getting lost in thought was a very bad idea since his friend took that chance to throw him into the lake. He didn't quite make it to the deeper water which he was thankful for and also that it wasn't winter.

“That was foul,” he stated once he got his footing and shook his head. Well, Aurek wasn't going to get away that easily. The grey yearling charged his friend intent on grabbing him by the scruff and dragging him into the water.

Four coyotes appear from the shadows, posturing aggressively.

The pale boy was grinnind proudly at his accomblishment, having succesfully thrown his friend to water with almost perfect score. He laughed, so much so that he did not keep eyes on his friend enough to prepare for retaliation. Of course there was going to be one, Elyan was not going to let this pass. "WHaha.. Supreme Vict-aääh!" -Aurek shrieked as Elyan suddenly caught him and pulled him down into the water as well, the pale boy's face going below surface and briefly causing the mischivious jester to panic.

Aurek bounced towards sufrace, not realizing how shallow the water was at first and thus kicking furiously to get footing in bit of comical display. Elyan sure got his revenge fast. "Ackkh! Brrff! Not fair!"

All the while this was happening, a band of coyotes was nearing on the two youngsters, Aurek not even noticing approaching danger (mostly because he got water into eyes and was such a baby about it!). "AAHH! I'm blind!"

Elyan didn't waste anytime after shaking the water from his head. He didn't want Aurek to catch wind of what he was planning to do. As such he immediately went after his friend just as he was about to declare a victory, yeah right. The yearling was laughing as he grabbed Aurek and pulled him under the water.

Once that was done he let go and watched as the pale form of his friend tried to recover from that. He laughed harder when Aurek declared it unfair, “cause what you did was fair?” He asked with raised eyebrow.

Elyan was watching Aurek as he went in doing his thing until is mismatched gaze landed on the figures of four Coyotes, really four. “Um ..Aurek,” he said trying to get his friend's attention, “You might want to stop your fussing and take a look at this,” he said before nudging pale fir with his nose.
