All are welcome in this thread

Staring out across the empty expanse of the tundra Nauja couldn't help but think it was like an ocean.  Sure, not the one that she was used and missed like she missed the members of her family. Like the ocean there really wasn't anything to see did some distance, not even the movement of some pretty animal.  Her stomach grumbled reminding her it had been sometime since she'd last has something to eat. With no water in sight it looked like she was going to have to catch some land-dwelling creature once more.  She hadn't been very good at catching anything other than fish despite her skills improving a little since she been brought to this dreadful place.

Taking in a deep breath she set out across the tundra in search of something to eat not keen on the idea of having to chase her food down.  It wasn't long before she had some luck coming across a set of tracks which she stopped to investigate.  Finding they weren't so old the scent had faded completely she decided to follow them to see if she might have more luck. The scent seemed to be getting stronger the longer she followed them, or it was her mind's wishful thinking she was going to have something to eat in a short time.  Stopping once more she check the track, lowering her head to sniff at each one slowly to take in what information she could. As she was doing that he ear turned as it picked up the sound of something large walking through the snow toward her.

Morganna Archer-Lyall

With the entire lowlands on the lookout for a black wolf with silver eyes and a scarred muzzle, Morganna was perhaps searching the hardest. She was torn somewhere between hope and despair, her son well on his way to a destination where the wolf he was meant to see no longer resided. The next best thing was two days behind him and she couldn't know what sort of vipers pit he might find himself in as a result. It made her anxious but she had to trust that blood was thicker than bullshit and he would be okay.

She cursed herself and cursed her son for dragging Anaia home, she cursed Zahira for the damage done to Piety and she cursed herself again for letting the woman in. Perhaps if they hadn't expended so many supplies so early in the season they would have had enough to deal with his injury here. To look after their own when it was actually needed. She snorted and kicked a snow drift, head lowering to check the fresh tracks in the snow. They were foreign and that was enough to catch her interest as eyes scanned to pick up the dark shape in the distance. Usually, she would call a bark of warning but if they were to flee, well then she might miss out on her answers.

She stalked toward the stranger much in the same way one might stalk a deer, with purposeful steps in the hope to get them moving. She kept her expression flat for now. Judging the others reaction would be everything.

The hope that the tracks would lead her to a rabbit that she could run down for her meal was quickly fading.  The scent from the tracks didn't seem to be getting any stronger as she followed them.  It was becoming more clear that these tracks were much too old to be very reliable when it came into finding food.  Her stomach grumbled once more it seemed in disappointment that it would be feed any time soon.

The sound of someone or something approaching had turned her ear only a moment before she raised her head.  Another wolf had been her guess before she had even lifted her head to find out exactly what was coming at her.  With her head lifted she turned to see and found a wolf coming at her in such a way that did not seem friendly.  Nauja’s didn't know why this wolf would be coming at her in such a way but she stood her ground to wait for them to come a little nearer. Then she would hopefully find out why she was being approached in such a way, she worried she might have missed a pack marker or something of that nature.

Her senses told her the wolf was female as she came closer and of a pack that the sea gull didn't recognize.  Her ears flattened against her skull as she lowered her head just enough to be respectful, “Hello there,” she called, “Is there something I can help you with?” Or perhaps she could help to find something to eat.

Morganna Archer-Lyall

This girls eyes burned brighter than her own, and the Archer was quick to take in the lack of scars on her face. She slowly exhaled, a cloud of steam rising before her as she finally relaxed, tail waving once in response to the strangers greeting. Was there something the woman could help her with? Probably not, but that didn't mean she wouldn't ask. "My son was attacked, 'e lost 'is eye." It wasn't what she imagined one typically expected when encountering a stranger anywhere. This woman had picked a bad time to traverse the tundra. "Pack ter th' south are missin' their kid too." If the woman planned on hanging around, this probably wouldn't be the only time she found herself held up, but the more eyes the better.

Her eyes had begun to scan the tundra again, determining this one to be of little threat. "It was dark, but 'e said it was a big black wolf with scars across their face, pale eyes." She didn't expect the description to ring any bells, this girl smelled of nobody but herself, and had obviously done so for quite some time. "If it's food yer after yer better off headin' fer th' trees." She gestured east, towards Hearthwood, and south. "This area'll pretty much picked clean til th' snow gives way." There was larger prey of course, the musk ox and bison the only creatures to tide the monadnock over the harsh months but that was hardly prey for anything less than a pack at full strength.

She could not help that perhaps she had wronged the female as she approached and to keep herself from trouble she developed a more neutral position.  Nauja watched the woman closely without a word waiting to see what would happen next and to her relief it seemed nothing terrible would come to pass.  The woman had relaxed and exhale and a wave of her tail signaling to the seagull this was the case.  The woman's response wasn't not what she'd been expecting to hear. “That's horrible, I'm sorry to hear it.  I do hope that he’s okay?”  Nauja couldn't even imagine what it would be like to lose an eye but it got worse. A nearby pack was missing a pup.  The seagull had to wonder what exactly she'd found herself in when she came onto the Tundra. “Do you know what the child looks like, perhaps I can keep a lookout in my travels,” the seagull offered.

As the woman looked across the Tundra Nauja did as well wondering if she might be searching for the missing child. She then went into a description of who attacked her boy, “Do you believe this black wolf is also the one to take the child?” Living alone Nauja wondered if she needed to be worried about this eye taking wolf.  She rather liked to have both of her eyes so did not fancy a run in with the wolf that had been described. Though it wasn't a problem of hers if the child was found or the woman's son had lost his eye, the seagull wasn't stupid. By asking the questions she could find answers that could earn her a free meal, even better if she could find the child and bring it back. “I appreciate the information,” she said in response to the woman's offering, “I will check that out and hopefully get a nice meal.”  She hoped the woman's advice would prove to be fruitful to help her stomach to stop growling. “For your kindness I can offer to keep an eye out and bring back any information I gather.” It was after all the least she could do.
