@Lorcan  RE: Snowmaggedon! A foot of snow has fallen overnight!

The previous night had been spent a little closer to the group then Cheedo really preferred but still on the outskirts.  She tried to keep a low profile around them, she'd heard their whispers and knew what they thought of her.  It was best she kept her distance from them for her own safety especially since Mitt couldn't always be there to protect her.  When she woke up and looked outside of the little shelter she'd made herself Cheedo was not expecting so much snow to have fallen overnight.  She grumbled irritably at the fact she had to go out looking for something to eat in it.  The first step she took...Her leg sunk into the snow half way up her foreleg and she knew that this was never going to go well.

With a huff of frustration Cheedo set out across the tundra in search of her breakfast. The surprise of the snow had taken her mind off her symptoms. The further she got in her journey the scent she now carried started to bother her once again.  It went bad from there as the other symptoms returned and it occurred to her that the deep snow could be good for something. It was as the hint of Whitestone reached her that she stopped to rest.  She recognized the scent as the one Mittani carried on his pelt.  Laying down in the snow she rolled with her feet in the air the cold helping to relieve some of the burning just under her skin. She hoped the snow would also take care of the scent as well but Cheedo knew better.

He needed some space. A moment to just breathe.

It felt so strange. Normally it would have been @Piety who he would have run to, been her who would have sought comfort in. Not today though. This time Piety, his beloved friend, was the very one whom he wished to avoid.

His jaws were clenched tight as lean limbs trudged forwards through the thick blanket of snow, leading the agouti male in no particular direction. The whole situation had just left him feeling so angry and betrayed and… devastated. Lorcan couldn’t help but wonder if it had all just been a game. Had she had just been teasing him with her affection? Because right now, Lorcan felt like he’d been strung along.

A low growl rumbled in his throat, releasing some of his frustration as he marched onward, the shadow of the monadnock still looming over behind him. He would have kept moving had his nose not caught of whiff a deliciously familiar scent. The scowl that had been etched across his features softened as he thought back to @Inna whilst his golden eyes scanned the surrounding area for the female it belonged to.

It took him a few moments to spot the flash of sable fur against the snow, but even when he did he refused to advance. Instead he held his ground and shifted to stand with his tail curled dominantly over his head. Eyeing her suspiciously, a loud chuff was tossed into the air to announce his presence.

It didn't matter what she did hunting or swimming in the cold water they always returned and she was left looking for something else to relieve her heat symptoms.  The scent of never went away and no matter what she did to make it.  She hated it, like a giant sign that said come give me puppies.  That thought alone made her want to roll in the snow all day and hope that she didn't run into any males that were not her white knight.  As she rolled her feet kicked in the air helping to twist her body in the snow, a good covering was what she needed.  The cold seeping into her pelt helped but she knew she couldn't keep it up all day no matter how much it worked.

She needed to get back to her hunting so that she could eat at least once that day even if it was something small.  She was just about to get up and get back to it when a chuffed reached her ears. She rolled onto her stomach before pulling her small frame to it's full height to see the man.  He had not advanced any closer and Cheedo was grateful for that, the last thing she needed was some male wanting to do things that she should only be doing with Mitt if at all.

As if second nature her tail went between her legs when she took in his dominate stance.  The man smelled as Mittani did which told her he was a Whitestone wolf. He offered him a small smile hoping he might relax a little as he was making her a little nervous. “Hello love, what brings you away from your pack?” She said cheefully hoping being friendly would also help him.  Anything to help calm her nerves which only added to the frustration she felt inside.

Lorcan watched silently, still maintaining his dominant stance, as a small female shuffled to stand up from thick blanket of snow. Immediately his golden eyes narrowed on her, white brows furrowing slightly as he quietly took in her full appearance. He did not recognise her and a quick sniff of the air clarified that she was indeed a lone female in heat.

The agouti male appreciated the submissive posture she displayed. It was polite and it also helped to somewhat mellow his sour mood. The agouti male allowed his lean muscles to relax a little then so that he appeared less threatening.

Her cheerful tone caught him by surprise and caused his russet ears to perk up in interest. “I’m just out scouting.” He lied, his voice cold and neutral. “Trying to keep busy…” He added, his voice finally softening a little as he gave a curious sway of his tail.

“You?” He asked, his head tilting to one side in inquisitively. His tail was still arched dominantly over his back. With her being a loner, and one suspiciously close to the Whitestone borders, he would not entirely let his guard down until he was more aware of her intentions.

It seemed the man had perfect timing since she was about to get up anyway.  Once she stood at her full height amongst the disturbed snow she was able to take him in fully.  His scent, the way he carried himself caused her to subconsciously use all of her defense mechanisms.  Tail tucking under her, hind legs crouch slightly and her friendly tone of voice.  All of them were meant to keep her from getting into trouble or worse.  This man, however, seemed reasonable enough.

It seemed that she was safe for the time being as the man seemed to relax a little and didn't seem so ready to chase her off.  She let out a breath as she watched him waiting for a response to her question.

A smile formed across her features when she saw his ears perk up but her head tilted at his response.  “How is that going for you? The keeping busy?” She expected he did need to keep busy as it was clear he was a subordinate and we'll, Cheedo knew what that meant for him especially in a pack that involved Craw.

He didn't hesitate to ask her what she was found out there which Cheedo took a minute to answer. Considering what he'd said and what she needed she saw this as an opportunity. “I was passing by. Hunting actually.” She told before shaking her coat out as the water from the snow had started to travel down the hair shafts to her skin. “You want to keep busy? What say you help a girl out?” Why not? It made sense for him to help her, she needed help finding and catching something and he wanted to keep busy.  It seemed a fair enough trade.

She seemed a little nervous, but then, that might have had something to do with his slightly intimidating posture. Still, he wouldn’t relax just yet, not until he knew exactly what she was doing in such close proximity to the Whitestone pack borders.

He jaw clenched slightly when she questioned him, noticing the hint of subliminal tones within her choice of words and the soft smile which pulled at the corner of her ebony lips. If she was going to try and flirt with him, well, he doubted any amount of flirtatiousness could break through his cold façade right now — not matter how insatiable she smelt.

“It’s—” He faltered, stumbling as he tried to summon up the right words. “—keeping me out of trouble, thanks.” He finally said, forcing a polite smile to his charcoal lips to try and make up for his hesitation. Keeping away from @Wraith would at least work to save his tail for now.

Golden eyes narrowed on the woman as she stated that she had been hunting, which was questionable, considering that she had been half buried in the snow when he had come upon her. “Oh? What exactly where you hoping to find?” He quickly responded, unable to resist a smirk. Her offer of a hunt did interest him though. The thought of sinking his teeth into something certainly had its appeal right now.

“Okay. I’ll help you out…” He began coolly, before an awkward smile tugged at his features. “I’ll hunt some prey with you, but that’s the only thing I’ll be hunting.” His chin tipped forwards, to test that she understand his hidden meaning. The last thing he needed was for a female to run around with her tail up. His tongue licked hungrily at his mouth as he remembered back to @Inna and the way she had teased him with numerous games of tag and chase.

In the time she’d been in the lore she'd gotten a little better, not always so nervous and timid about everything.  She owed some of that to Mitt and the rest, well it was her trying to start over.  With a new place came a fresh start, she didn't want to be without Mittani but she didn't want to be the same old fragile Cheedo anymore. So she tried practicing her confidence but there were still something's she hadn't lost yet.

The man had mentioned staying busy which Cheedo thought she could find plenty for him to do.  That was if he was willing and they could start with a hunt, she needed to eat and she wouldn't mind sharing a meal if he out in the effort. He was larger than her anyway which would be of the utmost help in their current climate. The snow was so deep she hadn't yet stepped from the area that had been packed down by her rolling around.

First things first as she questioned him about how he was doing at keeping busy her smile didn't falter  as he said it was keeping him out of trouble. “It's a good place to be as long as you stay there,” she commented with another tilt of her head.  The last thing she needed was him sniffing under her tail and taking liberties with her he ought not be taking.  She would let him know though if it came to it, she belonged to her white night, she'd promised him that.  For her it was no longer about the fact he could protect her though she was certain he could and would.

It seemed by the narrowing of his eyes that he wasn't quite convinced that she was only hunting.  Which she supposed that might be a little true considering what he'd found her doing. “Rabbit I suppose, it seems to be the only thing around for now.  Unless you might have a suggestion or two of something that might be tasty?” She kind of hoped he did as rabbit was getting old but she also wasn't one to be choosy when it came to eating while on her own.

Another smile did cross her lips as he agreed to help her, “Your help will be appreciated,” she confirmed.  However it seemed he had a little stipulation to go with it. She gave a nod, “Don't worry love hunting prey is all I'm looking for.” Well it was good they had that cleared up, he did seem a nice man and she would hate to have to set him straight.  It seemed she'd gotten lucky with this one since they were both interested in only one thing, finding prey. “We should get going,” she said as she moved to the edge of the packed down area, “Unless you have a better idea?’ She asked her gaze going back to him momentarily.

Hunter demonstration 1/4

Lorcan couldn’t help but scoff a little when the woman mentioned keeping out of trouble. He certainly wasn’t having the best of luck with that lately, but at least he was back within Whitestone where he belonged. There was always that silver lining to be found in even the most messed up situations.

He then went on to raise his brow as she told him what she had apparently been hunting when he had first spotted her half buried in the fresh snow. The agouti male couldn’t say that he entirely believed her, but, he’d come to notice that the female seemed to act a little strangely this time of year so he didn’t question it any further.

The male tilted his head to one side in anticipation as he waited to see if the woman had caught on to his hidden warning. Fortunately, there was no need for him to spell it out to her and Lorcan gave a polite nod as she agreed to keep things clean between them. With that issue settled, the Whitestone subordinate allowed his tail to finally sway neutrally at his legs. If they were to work together efficiently, there would no room for displays of dominance.

At her suggestion, Lorcan stepped forwards to follow behind her, ready and eager to begin their joint search for prey. Though before they begun, the woman asked if he knew of anything better to hunt than rabbits. With a downwards tilt of his chin, he glanced across to her. “If I’m honest, I think rabbit will be the best we’re likely to find right now.” He admitted, not bothering to hide his disappointment. Food was food though and after the harsh winter they Whitestone had experienced, Lorcan wasn’t about to complain.

“Are you still up for it?” He asked, trotting forwards to begin their search before turning to glance back at her before he pressed his nose to the snow and began stalking along slowly in hopes of catching a faint whiff of the prey.

Hunting Dem 1/4

Her head tilted slightly her good ear giving a slight flick as if someone had just blown on it when he scoffed. “Interesting you should make such a sound,” she commented though didn't push the matter.  It wasn't any of her business what trouble he might be getting himself into, he could share if he wanted but being a man...She doubted he would.  Not even Mittani shared everything with her, Cheedo didn't care it allowed her to have her own secrets.

The raised brow she received after explained her presence near the packs lands didn't seem to impress him. Cheedo shrugged, she'd given him the truth with no reason to lie especially to a wolf from Craws pack.  She dropped it from her mind when it seemed he wasn't going to take his concerns any further. It was fine by her as there were more important things to get on with, like finding her a meal.

She had not needed any help in deciphering what he'd said to her, she may be fragile but she wasn't stupid.  She figured it out quickly enough and was quick to let him know such behavior, advanced wouldn't be appreciated.  If he couldn't figure out what was going on then he he probably needed to ask one of his pack mates. It seemed that her stating she had no other desire than to hunt helped. His tail was some indication of that which set her a little more at ease.

He'd come toward her but informed her that rabbits were probably all that they would find in the Lowlands at this point. It was somewhat disappointing news but not surprising as she had taken notice at the lack of variety in prey. “Then we will have to settle for rabbits for this hunting trip.” He too seemed disappointed in the acknowledgement too.  “Maybe once this snow is gone we can treat ourselves to something different.” A nice prairie dog would even be a welcome change.

“A girl has to eat doesn't she?” She replied when asked if she was still up for it. She fell in behind him as he started their search. “I'm Cheedo by the way, it might help to know who I'm hunting with?” Her not so subtle way of asking for his name. She too set her nose to the ground in search of any indication they might be a little closer to their meal.
