Lorcán Artemieva
The weather had become more pleasant since his arrival in the lowlands. Dark, gloomy rain clouds had been chased away by the bright golden light of the sun and where there was once rain, clear cerulean skies now reigned. The agouti male had been grateful, initially, but now as he wandered wearily through the tundra with the sun constantly beating down on his back he began to appreciate the cool shade that the storm had provided.

Still with no carcass to haul back to Hearthwood, the healer refused to allow the heat to deter him. Travelling back to the pack without anything to show for his trouble would surely result in disappointment and as the new second in command, since Aleksei’s sudden departure, Lorcan was desperate to prove himself capable of the role by providing for the other pack members.

Trailing after the faint scents of the large ungulates on the breeze, the agouti male meandered after them, hoping to come across the large herds sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, luck was not on his side and after spending a number of hours tracking and trailing the scents of the prey all he managed to gain was tired aching paws and a hot back. Mouth dry from exhaustion, his golden eyes searched around him for somewhere shaded to rest.

Eyes narrowed as he spotted a peculiar shaped object in the distance and after loping towards it, the agouti male was surprised to find a circular arrangement of antlers partially concealed amongst the dry grasses. Whilst not much, the antlers did cast some shade and so Lorcan promptly slumped down amongst them, his chest heaving and his tongue spilling from his mouth as he tried desperately to cool down.

Cheedo

Now that Cyril was older and starting to venture out of the den on his own Cheedo felt a little more comfortable traveling further from Whitestone. She hadn't been doing much wanting to stay close in case the pale woman needed her for anything for herself or the pup. Being a scout was important so she felt it was time she got back to her training, well the training she thought she needed. So she'd set out early leaving word with Piety that she wouldn't be back for a few hours as she was going to be taking the woman up on her advice.

She had traveled the lowlands before but it had always been in search of prey and she still hadn't gone far. This time she wasn't going to let any fear she might have keep her from finding some of those interesting places her alpha had spoken about. The sun beat down on her sable back as she trotted across the tundra, her pelt camouflaging her amongst the tall grass. It was helpful when hunting but made no real difference when she was out scouting.

She wasn't exactly sure how far she'd traveled but she knew a couple hours had passed when she came upon it. The strangest thing she'd ever seen in her life, antlers forming a circle around what, she wasn't sure. Being that her nature was to be cautious this was no different so she slowly made her way towards the antlers to investigate. Something else caught her attention though, the figure of another wolf. It wasn't until she'd come closer that she saw she knew the wolf, the tawny healer that had once belonged to her pack but as she recently learned was now a river wolf. He didn't seem to happy with when last they met so she approached him cautiously. “Hello Lorcan, fancy meeting you here,” she said a friendly smile across her maw.

Lorcán Artemieva
Beneath the sweltering heat of the late morning sun, Lorcan sprawled exhaustedly beneath what little shade the arrangement of antlers provided. The areas of shade which did cast down from the sharp prongs of the antlers which he had settled among provided him slight relief from the uncomfortable heat the tundra was exposed to.  However as he laid on his side, his chest continued to heave up and down as he struggled to cool himself off, his rapid panting failing to relieve him of the heat which had soaked into his agouti fur and he gave a soft whimper as he moved to wearily rest his head upon the ground.

As he lay there, his golden eyes peered up to trail curiously along the smooth curves and rounded edges of the worn antlers as he wondered how so many had come to fall in one place and in such a precise formation. His musings were disturbed though, when he caught sight of a tawny figure moving in to approach him. Dark nostrils flared as he inhaled their scent in the air, the familiarity of their distinctive odour quickly informing him that it was a female belonging to the monadnock.

Lifting his head, the agouti male strained to see against the harsh sunlight which caught his golden eyes and it was only when they finally reached him that he became aware of their identity. The greeting offered to him was met with a frown as Lorcan lowered his head back to the ground and blinked to readjust his eyes to the shade provided by one of the antlers. “Cheedo..” He grumbled, the black tip of his tail flicking in irritation.

He would have asked what she was doing there had they not been in such close proximity to the monadnock. So, ignoring the chance for casual conversation, the healer took the opportunity to get straight to the point with a very direct question. “You lied when we first met. You were there for Craw, weren’t you?” He asked, his jaws clenching tight as he resisted the urge to snarl, which caused his voice to come out more as a hiss. “You’re part of the reason he left.” He continued, golden eyes straining as he glanced back up to her, the bridge of his muzzle wrinkling in abhorrence.

Cheedo

When she'd set out that morning she hadn't expected for the day to have become as hot as it was. The sun on her back as she traveled across the tundra had caused her pelt to heat up to the point she was panting. It seemed to do nothing to relieve some of the heat that her body had built up. The tundra wasn't like the forest or even the Monadnock, there was at least some shade she could take shelter under until she cooled off a little. She was on a mission though and didn't want to stop for very long if she stopped at all.

That plan changed when she saw a figure in the distance surrounded by what looked to be some sort of structure that she could tell was another wolf. As she drew nearer she could tell it was a male and he was from their neighbors in Hearthwood. Considering recent events between the two packs she felt that a friendly greeting wouldn’t be out of line and maybe even help pack relations.

It was only when she was nearly upon him that she realized it was Lorcan that she'd come across. Cheedo wasn't sure how she felt about seeing him again considering when they had last met he hadn't been very happy with her. Still she gave him the friendly greeting but the one she got in return wasn't so friendly. “I know you're upset with me Lorcan,” she said as she found her own bit of shade near him, “But you don't have to be this way.” Or maybe he did she wasn't sure what was going through his mind but she did know he wasn't happy with her because of Craw.

Any chance that they could just move past it and forget what she'd said had passed. He didn't seem to want small talk or a friendly conversation. She didn't have to wait to find out what was in his mind either. It seemed he'd been giving it all some thought. She swallowed the lump in her throat, she would have to tell him the truth if she wanted to fix what had gone wrong. “I didn't lie exactly I just didn't tell you the whole truth but yes I was here for Craw. I needed to know if he was still alive,” she explained. The small agouti doubted it would just magically fix everything and she was sure it would only get worse but maybe it could help. “Maybe after he discovered I had come, I'm not really sure for awhile it seemed he had every intention to return to Whitestone.” She'd never really had a chance to talk to him and now he was gone from her life once again.
