Backdated to 7/29. Takes place right after this thread.

She'd returned to the den just as Oksana was waking, it was time that she heard the news of Kisla's passing. Inna knew she couldn't put it off any longer. It didn't matter what was going in inside her head after speaking to Lorcan only a short time ago. She had to put those thoughts and emotions to the side and focus on her daughter. Oksana would need her mother once the news had been broken to her and Inna intended be there and support her daughter the best she could.

The problem was she still wasn't sure how to tell her daughter but she had decided not to tell her all of the details. Later when Oksana was older and she could understand Inna would tell her but for now the important thing was to make sure she understood her grandmother wasn't coming back.

She entered the den to find her daughter stretched out in the furs looking toward the den entrance. “Good morning Sana,” she greeted her daughter in the best cheerful voice she could muster.

When she opened her eyes Oksana found that her mother wasn't in the den so she waited for her to return. The small pup had noticed something wasn't quite right with her mum since the night that Lorc had stayed with her. The biggest thing that she noticed was her mum didn't go away as much. She remembered the talk with Lorc about duties and that was what kept her away. She was doing her duties a lot and now she wasn't so much. Oksana had also noticed her mother had been a lot more strict about what she was allowed to do. Playing with the other puppies wasn't allowed so she'd had to play in the den or right outside by herself. The dark furred child didn't like this, she wanted to go splore with Rissy, it wasn't fair

Inna had been sad when Lorc went away and happy when he came back. When she came back after Lorc stayed with her there was something different about her face. The child didn't know the way to describe it but she did not think it was like her mother. Inna's smiles were different too and that scared Oksana, she worried her mum was angry with her.

Inna came in the den bringing a smile to the child's face it widening when her mum greeted her. There was that note in her tone though, maybe her mum was sick. She did sleep a lot when she came back and Lorc said you had to sleep all day when you were sick. Oksana rise from where she'd been laying in the furs and ran to her mum, little licks were placed on her chin, “Mum back,” she said happily.

She'd been dreading the day she would inevitably be the one to take her daughter's happiness away. After wishing so hard to want to take her daughter's pain away while Lorcan was missing she was now going to cause her pain. Inna had paused outside the den, this was going to take a strength that she wasn't even sure she had in her. It was in that moment she had to wonder if it had been this hard for her mother to tell her about Making.

She couldn't put it off any longer, she couldn't cause Oksana more pain by keeping her sequestered in the den any longer. The Raven wondered how this might change her daughter, how it might be a part in shaping who she was. Slipping into the den she greeted her daughter and was greeted in return with lots of kisses.

Her heart broke. For one short moment she wanted to take her daughter back to the first and hold her. She couldn't she told herself over and over in her head. “Oksana, let's take a walk. I have something to tell you,” and she didn't want to do it in the den. She led her daughter back out into the morning and in the direction of the ethos.

She was glad her mum was back and now she could go outside to play for a little while at least. She knew she wouldn't be able to go far. Her mother would be watching the whole time but she guessed it was better than being cooped up in the den all day. Oksana wanted to know when that note would be gone from her mother's voice when she spoke.

Her tail wagged while she waited for her mother to take her outside to play but Inna didn't move. Instead she spoke saying she wanted to take a walk and tell her something. Oksana worried that her mum would finally be telling her why she was angry. That had to be it, the pup was now sure if it.

So when Inna left the den Oksana followed, whatever it was surely it couldn't be that bad. She followed her mother always trying to keep up with her but she fell behind a couple of times. Her mother always waited for her to catch up.

The Raven had a specific destination in mind for where she would finally tell Oksana what she's been holding back. The path she took would lead them to the ethos, it was quiet there and the lavender should have bloomed. She thought that might help little Oksana just a little. While the ebony child was big enough to make the trek on her own there were still times it was a struggle for her and Inna would wait and give her the time she needed to catch up.

It took them a little longer than Inna had expected to get to the ethos but she wasn't in a rush, the rest of the day was for her daughter. Oksana would need her once she heard the news and Inna was going to be there for her. Just like she had been there for her throughout her young life.

When they finally reached the ethos her dread grew, she stopped once more and allowed Oksana to catch up with her. “Come Oksana,” she said as she led her into the field of Lavender until she came to a place where they could talk. There she sat back on her haunches and waited for her daughter to do the same.

It felt like they had been walking forever to the pup and she didn't know where her mother was taking her. They traveled through parts of the forest that she hadn't seen before but the thing that she noticed most is when they passed a place where she could smell everyone. The smells we're so strong, she wanted to ask but her mother hadn't said a word. Oksana thought that maybe it wasn't a good time to ask about it so she followed quietly.

She did her best to keep up with Inna staying at her heel but sometimes she stumbled and her mother would go a few paces before stopping. Oksana would hurry and get back to her feet before catching up to her mum. The stumbling wasn't as bad as it used to be and she felt she was getting better at walking on her paws that we're just a little too big for her.

They came to a place that smelled like the den and had all kinds of purple flowers like the ones that she had seen in her den. Her mother walked out into the flowers beckoning to her and Oksana followed. She didn't understand where they were or what was happening, she could only hope that her mother would explain soon.

She waited for her daughter to have a seat in front of her, things had become more clear to her as they had made the trek to the ethos. She finally had a better idea if how she was going to tell Oksana about Kisla. That was a relief but it didn't make it any easier, she'd barely begun to process all of her emotions surrounding her mother's death and now she had to cause the same swirl of emotions in her daughter. She didn't know how Oksana would get through this when she wouldn't understand all of what she would be feeling.

They were both finally settled in and time had run out, Inna couldn't stall or put it off any longer. She saw the worried look in her daughter's eye causing her to sigh. She knew it was best to just get it out and then deal with the aftermath. She placed a kiss on Oksana's crown before taking a deep breath.

“This place Oksana is special to you and me. It holds some of our family’s history that I will one day tell you all that I know. What you need to know right now is that you have a grandfather but there is a reason you haven't met him. Before you were born he passed away and now he is here,” she explained almost certain that her daughter wouldn't understand everything that she said. She took another deep breath before continuing, “The night Lorcan stayed with you something happened and that is why I didn't come home. Your grandmother Kisla was hurt and she passed away like your grandfather, she's with him now and you won't be able to see her anymore.”

They didn't walk too far into the flowers until her mother sat down which the pup thought she should do the same. She looked up at her mother with worry and question in her features. Why had they come to this place? She didn't understand why they would have to go so far for her mother to tell her what she had to tell her. Nothing made sense to the child and she wished Inna would just tell her.

The kiss that was placed on her crown was usually a comfort for her but now only increased the worry that she felt. She saw her mother take a deep breath which brought more questions to her but she remained quiet. Inna was acting even more strangely than she had been the past few days.

Finally her mum spoke explaining about her family and grandfather, he passed away? What did that mean? Then the words about her grandmother struck the child, she'd been hurt? Why didn't anyone tell her? The worst part was hearing she wouldn't be able to see her anymore. Tears began to fall down her cheeks, “Sana want to see grandmum,” she stated defiantly. Why couldn't she see her, “Can't make Sana not see her.”

She had finally told her daughter which was only a small relief taken from the mother. It was hard news to take, hearing her father had died when she was just a yearling. She understood more then and knew that she wouldn't ever see her father again, that he wouldn't get to see her grow up or the woman she would become. He wouldn't be able to meet her daughter or the man she'd fallen in love with. Inna had come to terms with her father's death but how was Oksana being so young going to understand that the same we're true for Kisla? How would she understand that Kisla had died and wouldn't be coming back.

As expected her daughter didn't understand and wasn't taking the news well, seeing her so upset brought tears to her own eyes. What made it worse was that she was demanding to see Kisla. “Sweetie,” she said as she got in the same age as her daughter, “If I could take you to see her I would, you know that,” she told her gently. Getting angry with Oksana for her behavior wasn't going to help the child. She needed to express herself just as Inna had done the night her mother had died. She reached out and brushed Oksana's cheek with her nose, “I want to show you something,” she said quietly. Slowly she rose and led the child to the final resting place of her mother and father.
