Tikhon Artemieva
@Sachiel

It was time, the dark agouti man was feeling more like himself and he had put the weight he'd lost back on. He had made a promise to Sachiel and he intended to keep it. Their discussion on pine trees had been on his kind the closer that he came to being recovered. All Tikhon had to do now was find his little traveling companion so that they could get started on their trip.

He knew of a place not too far from where the Vale was that he could take the boy.  He didn't want to go too far with him but he thought a day trip would be okay. The agouti man also thought that they could also practice a little hunting while they were out since they would need to eat.

After his morning duties were taken care of which he'd done quickly Tikhon went in search of the pup.  The first place he looked was the communal den where he'd found him the first time. “Sachiel, you around?” He called out for the boy.

Orange was the colour of frustration. Of confinement. It was the colour he saw when his eyes were both open and closed, for it consumed the forest he called home. His lips were drawn into a tight line as he remained in the dark crevices of his den, his mismatched eyes staring longingly at the bright light at the end of the tunnel. His paws itched with desire, for he wanted to explore the Vale and perhaps slip outside the striped trees for a few hours, unnoticed by his older packmates. But that required leaving his den and facing all the dreadful orange. It was so loud! The corners of his mouth fell as his ears relaxed against the back of his crown, the tip of his tail twitching. Perhaps he would wait until nightfall, for the dark sky above would help mute the obnoxious leaves overhead. Yes, that seemed like a much better idea.

Sachiel, you around?

The frown deepened but he crawled forward, intrigued by the question. Tikhon. The wolf with the golden irises and a pelt that rivalled them in colour. A faded orange, much more appealing to the eye than the tangerine colour of the trees. He was calm; thoughtful. The newcomer almost reminded the boy of his father. But a little more talkative.

Poking his head out of the den his mismatched gaze swept the clearing as he sought out the Artemieva’s familiar shape. His head fell to the side once his eyes found their mark, a quizzical expression pressed to his pale features as he waited for the older male to explain why he had come looking for him.

Before calling for the child at the communal den Tikhon hoped that he would find the boy there. He wasn't sure where else he would look if Sachiel wasn't there. He was just as excited to take a trip outside the borders as he imagined his traveling companion would be. What pup didn't want to see what was outside their pack's territory? He remembered wanting to as a pup himself, it seemed to be a natural curiosity. He was now going to give Sachiel his chance to do just that. When he arrived at the den he called into it's depths for the boy before waiting for him to appear or not.

It didn't take too long before his small head popped out from inside. “There you are, good,” he stated with a measure of relief in his tone. “If I remember correctly I made you a promise,” he added before waiting a moment for the child's reaction. He did wonder what the reaction would be, did Sachiel still want to go with him to see the pine trees? “I feel that I have recovered enough for us to take our trip to see the pine trees, what do you think? Do you still want to go?” He finally spoke in his eagerness to find out if Sachiel still wanted to go and for them.to get going I'd he did.

Reluctantly the boy abandoned the mouth of the den and took several steps toward the older agouti, his head still cocked to the side as he waited for an explanation as to why he had been summoned. His eyes were fixated on the golden wolf in a desperate attempt to avoid looking at all of the noise surrounding them, his ears lowered against his crown. Promise? His head tipped further to the side. Yes, the agouti had made a promise. To take him to the green pine trees beyond the wall of orange. He dared not admit he had already seen some of them in his ventures, for Tikhon appeared rather excited about upholding the promise he had made. Plus, the boy was pleased that the agouti had kept his promise. It made him like the cream-cheeked wolf even more.

“Yes,” he answered eagerly, breaking his silence as his tail wagged softly behind him, a nod accompanying his words: “please.” The older male’s eager tone was enough to make his paws buzz with excitement as he stepped toward him once more. He motioned for the agouti to lead the way with a flick of his nose, for it was Tikhon’s adventure; Sachiel was just following along. The opportunity to get away from all the unnecessary orange was too good to pass up and was much better than staying in a hole of obsidian. He could use some green to sooth his jumbled thoughts.

The agouti’s tail swayed gently behind him as he spoke explaining his reason for seeking the boy out. A promise. Tikhon had always been one to keep his word and he didn't plan to start now in his new home. He also was not planning tell a lie to a boy who he had found he rather liked in their first meeting. He was eager to get out of the Vale and see some of the pine trees since he had not left the territory since his arrival. Sachiel did have a point, the orange in the Vale could he a little overwhelming at times. The Artemieva also couldn't help hoping that by venturing out it might open a door to finding his brother. That was not his first priority for this venture as Sachiel seeing the pine trees and maybe doing some hunting was.

He was sure to ask the boy if he still wanted to go with him to see the pine trees. A smile brightening his features as the answer was in the affirmative. “I'm glad to hear it,” he stated, “We should get going then, wouldn't want your mother to worry too much now would we?” The agouti man wasn't really acquainted with his mother but if she was anything like most mothers she might have a real problem with him taking her son on an adventure for too long.

The boy gave an encouraging nod at the tawny male’s words, his tail waving gently behind him as he followed into step behind the larger male. The Artemieva had filled out since their last adventure together; he was pleased to see that the golden-eyed male was on the right track to recovering from his months of travel. However, it also worried the little Leigh. Did that mean Tikhon intended on leaving the Vale soon? A frown creased his lips at the thought. He liked the older agouti a lot and didn’t want to see him go anywhere. Especially since he had already proved to be trustworthy by keeping his promise to the little Leigh.

… wouldn’t want your mother to worry too much now would we? His nose wrinkled. Sachiel didn’t even know if his mother, or father, would notice his absence. He was a fairly obedient child, adhering to the rules and usually staying within the borders of the Vale, even if all the orange made his head hurt. If he strayed beyond the striped trees he would ensure he was home before dark to not raise alarm, but his parents seldom commented on his absence. Sometimes he wondered just how far he could test his luck… like if he had disappeared for a night or two. Would they notice then? Would they search for him?

His frown deepened but he did not say anything. His mismatched gaze followed the trail that Tikhon led him on, committing it to memory as he analyzed the different colours and foliage scattered along the path.

Tikhon Artemieva

The Artemieva didn't want to waste anymore time especially since Sachiel seemed ready to go. He led the boy toward the border that he had crossed into the territory so many months ago when he had first joined. He knew there to be pine trees not too far from there, he'd used their needles as a soft place to rest when he first came to Umbra Copse. Being as thin as he was they had been necessary to keep from getting sores where his bones were showing. Tikhon was sure to confirm the pup was behind him as they traveled.

He didn't want to be gone too long with the child since he didn't know Sachiel's mother very well and she didn't know him. However, he did want to make sure the trip was worth it for him. Getting away from the Vale would be nice for the both of them at any rate. The agouti man felt he needed to start getting out more especially if he had any hope of finding his brother.

They reached the border pretty quickly and almost immediately green started to be mixed with the orange. They weren't the pine trees he'd promised so he kept up his pace. Looking back to Sachiel he spoke, “I thought if you would like we could do some hunting while we are out?”

A small frown was pressed to his lips as he followed the older agouti silently, his over-sized paws working overtime to keep up with the larger wolf. He remained eager to see where Tikhon was taking him, for it might be a different part of the pines that the boy had not yet gotten a chance to explore. Sachiel wanted to see more; go behind the pine forest that encased the Vale and see what else was out there. It wouldn’t be difficult. Especially when his parents were always preoccupied with their duties. He could slip away once they had both left the dens… he just had to make sure Tikhon or Castel did not notice him. Especially the latter, for she always seemed keen on following the boy. Sachiel did not mind her presence, but he certainly preferred being alone. Which was why he would have to be careful. Extra sneaky. His features softened at the thought.

A sigh of relief escaped him once he saw the comforting shades of evergreen before him. The orange, while still present in his peripherals, had been muted and the dull ache in the back of his mind subsided. Shades of sage and emerald mingled with each other, creating the perfect blend of calm. He knew that this wasn’t what Tikhon wanted to show him—it couldn’t be. He could easily see this whenever he pleased. All he had to do was walk along the borders—which he did often enough. Maintaining his pace the boy’s ears twitched as the older male spoke, dripping in shades of gold and juniper. Hunting? His mismatched gaze narrowed; his interest spiking. “M’kay,” he answered with a soft nod, the single word rolling off his tongue with ease.

They had crossed the border and entered into the pine forest that surrounded the vale. This however was not what he wanted to show the young wolf. These pines were something that was just as everyday as the constant orange that surrounded them. The dark agouti had seen them numerous times since he had joined the calendar and he'd lived among them in the weeks prior. Where he was heading with Sachiel following was a little further up the mountain. It was a place he had been just before he had become too weak to hunt. He didn't particularly want to go back there but he knew he had to, not just for his companion but for himself as well.

Figuring they wouldn't be missed for a couple days at least Tikhon felt there was plenty of time to make the trip but they would need to hunt if they were to keep up their strength. This would give the boy a little practice for later when he would need to hunt for the pack. That however could wait until a little later for now Tikhon wanted to cover as much ground as possible. He did mention the idea to Sachiel though and the boy seemed interested, “Have you done any hunting since we last spoke?” He asked the boy curious if he had gained any experience since their last conversation.
