Anyone's welcome, pup' just taking a moment to play!

A soft grunt escaped as silvery eyes slowly blinked open, snow crunched as he shifted within the baren underbrush. Nestled among the roots of the large tree, the pup pulled himself to his paws, his thick silvery black pet speckled with the dusty snow. He blinked slowly, his vision becoming clear as his mouth parted, a yawn escaping and causing the wolf to give himself a good shake as he tried to wake himself up, the dryness in his mouth reminded him, he needed to get something to drink. He glanced around, the other night he head heard something, it sounded like a rushing river or stream, maybe a creek. A small smile formed on his lips, the thought of a cold, refreshing drink motivated him, his ears straining as he started off down the loose trek toward what he hoped was the source.

Eventually he caught the sound and started off quickly, the sparse trees becoming thinner and thinner until the young wolf only stood on a rolling, snow covered hill side. He sucked in a breath of awe when he looked up, a jagged, meandering stream cut through the dusted hillside. The easily impressed youth smiled softly as he looked down, spotting the edge, he made his way down to the water’s edge.

Daesamar took a moment to look at his rippling reflection, shifting with the current, the young wolf smiled happily, his bushy tail wagging as his jaws parted, a playful growl escaping as he splashed his muzzle into the water and pulled it up, giving himself a shake as the chill hit his fur “brrrrr!” he said quietly, shaking his mane out and glaring at the water for just a moment before splashing a paw into it.

Sorry this took me so long.

With Jynx away on assignment from Lachesis it left the pale healer with a lot more time on his paws. He did some hunting around the territory and marked borders but that only occupied the man for part of the day. He and his mate had come to Driftwood to recover from the weeks of living as loners after leaving the notch and looking for their children. He'd recovered quite well but despite that he still thought of his children everyday. He missed his daily visits to his son Milon, it had been hard leaving him behind in the notch.

More and more of his time was spent looking for plants and herbs. Now that he was no longer a leader he could spend the time searching for them. He felt that it was helping him to heal from disbanding the notch, losing his children, and even the distance that had come between he and Jynx. He hoped with her return that they could start growing closer once more. With the announcement that only Lachesis and Lilya would he having pups he felt it took some pressure off the pair.

With his afternoon open Emrys traveled a little further from Driftwood than he had since arriving. He took his time as his paws carried him over the land. His travels soon brought on a thirst that needed to be quenched and he was just lucky enough to catch the sound of water. Perfect, he quickly made his way toward the water but soon found a pup playing in the water. The healer sat down in the snow and watched him for moment as his mind drifted to his children as he could imagine them doing the same.

your fine!

Daesamar let a content sigh escape as he settled down by the water’s edge, the cold water tugging at his paw. A smile formed on his face, looking upward toward the bleak overcast sky. He was genuinely happy with the way things were going for himself. Sure, he was a loner, bu he had managed to survive the frigid season so far. Suddenly, his head tilted to the side as the current pulled at his paw, a light growl escaping as his spine tingled with another bout of energy. Daesamar’s tongue hung out the corner of his lips as another growl escaped and he snapped at the water again, tail wagging happily as he splashed the water, slamming both forepaws in and barking before dashing back a few paces and prancing where he stood.

The silvery black pup froze mid step with the seemingly sudden appearance of another wolf. His maw was open slightly, the beginning of another yip dying unspoken in his throat. Nose twitching, he shifted to plant all four paws on the ground. Daes tensed slightly, he picked up on something he hadn’t in quite awhile, pack wolves. The thought left him a tad nervous as old memories came up. The unknown wolf wasn’t at his throat, so that was a good sign, he wondered just how long he had been watched before calling out, his smile returning {b} “Hello sir!”[/b/ he shouted happily across the short distance between them, settling down into his haunches.

It was bittersweet watching the pup play in the water as he thought of Elyan and Arwyn. Where were they now and we're they okay. More than anything he wished he could find them and bring them back to the surge, to Jynx. That didn't seem to be in the stars but he hoped that one day it would. That he hadn't seen his children for the last time in the notch. He even wondered what kind of wolves they had become in their time away from home. As he hear the splashing of the water he was drawn from his thoughts and back to the pup just as he started prancing around, a pale brow raised at this sight.

When it seemed the boy had noticed him Emrys remained in the palace he'd settled. It was a distance that he hoped wouldn't be too intimidating to the young wolf. The pale healer nodded as he was greeted, “Hello there.” He greeted in return. He then pursed his lips, “You seemed to be having quite the time there,” he said tipping his nose in the direction of the stream. The father in him wanted to say something about it not being very safe to be playing in the water in the dead of winter but he held his tongue. “So tell what brings you to this part of the forest.” Boring but that was what he'd settled for as a conversation starter.

The large pup settled down, a bit antsy and filled with energy, but he managed to keep from rocketing away as Emrys spoke, his mother had always taught him to be respectful, even with strangers. Daesamar’s crooked right ear flicked as he bobbed his head eagerly in response to the first question. The youth’s tail wagged slightly as he paused to consider the question.

“Well sir, I’ve been exploring….hunting becoming hard and well….stressful, so i figured take a chance to have some fun, it’s a good way to escape for a bit.” He said honestly, though his thick pelt clung to his body, the young world was by no ways well off in his hunting attempts. In fact his stomach rumbled softly but he kept the grin as he settled down “Hunting in this snow’s hard, that’s all, but I’m, sure I’ll get it eventually, what about you sir? what brought you all the way out here?” he asked, his silvery gaze filled with curiosity now, tilting his head toward the stream.[/b]

Icy gaze remained on the pup as he settled down but he still seemed to he full of energy. Another thing that reminded him of his children but he pushed that thought away. It could be brought back out at another time for now he gave his attention to the boy before him. The nod of his head confirming Emrys’ comment about the amount of fun that he was having.

It was the healers turn to nod his head as the pup spoke of the difficulty he was having with his hunting. “Finding ways to relieve the stress is important,” he agreed since that was exactly what he was out doing. “Hunting at this time of year can be frustrating to say the least.” So many things could get in a wolfs way when it came to getting a meal when there was snow on the ground. “It does take some practice,” he agreed, “I was out searching for any plants that could be used for healing,” he said before waiting for the look he knew he would get after he said that.

The black and silver pup’s head bobbed slowly as the adult wolf seemed to agree with alot of what he said. A confused look overtook the young male at the mention of plants, the stuff that grew around them? Leaves and sticks? “I don’t...I didn’t know, you mean the stuff on the trees? And flowers?” he asked, his pup like curiosity starting to burn with the desire to know more, this was an entirely new subject for him, before, the only use plants served was a simple place to sleep.

“Yes sir though...I’ve noticed with hunting on this, a lot of noise made by my paws.” A frustrated sigh escaped, he had been trying his hardest to figure out how to silence himself when he’s creeping, but every time, without fail, he ended up giving himself away and only catching the kicked up snow left by his fleeing meals. The, like fog lifting on the mountains, he had an idea, one he couldn’t believe he hadn't thought of before. “Are they edible?” he asked, his silver gaze showing his slow growing desperation, if they were, then maybe he could survive off of them as well. His troubles could easily be solved with all the sticks laying around. He gestured toward one hopefully, a waiting smile forming on his lips.

Hunting, Emrys’d had his fair share of frustrations with the task. He remember the previous winter how he'd become so upset with himself when time after time he'd return to the notch with nothing to show for his efforts. He'd also as a young wolf had plenty of mistakes that resulted in him losing his prey. He wasn't as good of a hunter as his wife but he did well for himself. It was something that took skill especially in winter. “Yes, the stuff on trees and some flowers,” he confirmed when asked about the plants he was searching for.

“That certainly is a problem,” he said when the boy spoke of the crunch of the snow, “You have to step lighter and it's easier said than done. It takes practice.” Emrys too had learned that the hard way but he'd had his mother to guide him then. The healer nodded when asked if the plants were edible, “Some of them are and some of them aren't.” It took a good bit of knowledge to know which ones were which. He'd been learning for a long time. The truth was now that he wasn't a leader any more he was looking forward to getting back to the healing arts.

The young Silverveil listened intently and keenly as @Emrys spoke, hoping the stranger might hold the arcane secrets that the youth seemed to be missing when it came to walking quietly on the snow. His ears fell back slightly in fresh frustration when he was told the secret key was practice. A sigh started to form but he swallowed it, it didn’t want to be rude, but the boy couldn’t help but toss a glance at the creek running beside them.

“Wait…..” he murmured quietly, an idea coming to mind, inspired by his previous play session. He turned toward Emrys in excitement, his fluffy tail dislodging snow as it wagged swayed energetically behind him. “The water!” he squeaked, scrambling to his paws, kicking up a shower of dusty snow in his exhaustion. Daesamar’s tongue hung out the side of his mind in pure, puppy concentration, his silver gaze narrowed to slits as a determined scowl overtook his features. Slowly, the pup started to plant a heavy paw into the soft, dusted surface.

It didn’t crunch as it usually would, under his exaggerated steps, he took another, the excitement building when he was able to make it a few steps before his rump wriggled, he yipped in victory and turned toward Emrys, a new shine in his eyes as the pup planted his forepaws into the snow “It’s like the water!” he declared, gesturing frantically toward the stream. “It’s like the pressure that the water puts against my paws, slower though.”
