Aurek Artemieva

This marmaid hunting better work. Aurek had no problem working with strangers although hunt was not the first thing that would come to his mind when seeng unfamiliar face. Still, if riks were minimal, supposedly there was no harm trying it. He allowed the older male take the lead, simply nodding to signal that he was ready to start whenever the other one was. And thus he followed Alvar, maintaining respectful distance from him as they together made their way forward to the hunting grounds

Aurek was still fan of hare hunting. He liked the rich, almost fat free meat they had and he sincerely hoped these overzied squirrels were least somewhat good to eat. While they travelled, he could just as well ask about his uncle and wether Alvar might have seen him. "By the way... Is a name Lorcan familiar to you?"

Nice looking, short sweet and to the point. Thoughts. Speech.

As Alvar moved forward across the forest floor, he was acutely aware of the fact that Aurek was keeping a distance and decided to slow down and keep a little closer, but not too close, he didn't want to freak him out. Looking ahead he could see at least 5 marmots outside of the burrows. Sniffing and listening for more, he determined that there were 2 more just behind a rock, just out of sight. Out of the blue Aurek asked him about a wolf named Lorcan. Alvar thought about the name but nothing came to his mind.

"I'm sorry but I don't know anyone by that name. But I will ask around for him if you want." Was his reply, he smiled and looked ahead again. Seeing that 2 marmots had wandered away from the rest, he immediately crouched down, stalking forward as quietly as possible, keeping low he waited until they were both looking away. He nodded to Aurek to join him and sprang forward in a quick short motion and dispatched one of the marmots with a bite to the neck, and knocked the other one to the ground, Aurek needed to take that one out before it sounded the alarm...

OOC: Aurek has no idea how to hunt Marmots. >:C

Aurek had really never seen a marmot in his life and now that he saw it, fat gray squirrel fit the description perfectly for him. Aurek did not really pay much attention to Alvar as he was still in midst of wondering how squirrel can get that fat. Thus, Alvar suddenly sprinting forth caught the youngster bit by surprise and he joined the chase little bit late. While his companion perhaps caught Marmot with ease, Aurek had never hunted these oddities and when it came his turn to snatch his kill, he missed by lenght of the creature's hair. "Buhh!"

He hurried after the big rodent he had failed to catch and while it was certainly slower than hare, Aurek suddenly lost sight of it entirely. Where there had been moments ago marmot, there now was a hole and the pale boy blinked. He looked over his shoulder at Alvar, looking confused. "Uuuhh so.. they can dive under the ground. Thats like cheating!" -he protested, somewhat embarrassed that he had managed to let fatass squirrel escape like that...

Now we're getting into it! :) Thoughts. Speech.

Alvar didn't notice he was holding his breath until he let it out, Aurek's marmot had managed to escape! Grunting, Alvar looked over at the rest, sure enough about 2 or 3 were making their way to the entrances of the tunnels, while the rest chewed along as if nothing had happened, that left 3 outside the burrows. Plenty to keep hunting for. "At least they didn't bolt." He thought. This was going to be harder than he had thought, and Aurek clearly needed some help. Looking over to him, Aurek was clearly dumbfounded about the marmot going underground. He even stated that it was unfair.

"Yeah, sorry I should have told you about that. Look just knock them over with your paw and bite the neck, easy. Here watch." He took a look at another marmot that was relatively close to both him, and a burrow. "Just focus and wait for it... The marmot took another moment or 2 but finally turned it's head away. and move forward slowly." He said as he crept forward, ears an tail low to the ground. The marmot turned to scratch it's side, Alvar noticed it was unstable and pounced forward, knocking it over and attempting to bite it in the neck just like with the last one, but this one turned and gave Alvar a scratch across the side of the mouth. He grunted with pain... "Grahh!" as he turned and bit its throat. Now that the marmot lay limp on the ground, he looked up and saw that 1 was going back to the burrow at full speed, but the other stayed where it was. Seemingly oblivious to the situation. Alvar looked at Aurek...

"You get that one and we'll call it a day. Sound good?"

OOC: Aurek wont be catching anything in this hunt. >:D

Aurek was clearly upset for letting some stupid fat squirrel... marmite or whatever they were called escape him. He could understand when regular squirrel woud climp up trees, but these big round ones clearly did not have decency to even be good sport about this whole hunting thing but hat to resort to cheap tactics.

Alvar was clearly older and more experienced so he seemed to have no real trouble catching any of the marmelots. It seemed almost too easy watching him do that and Aurek stared enviously, letting out low huff as he saw Alvar make a second kill. The older wolf encouraged Aurek to continue and the pale boy muttered to himself while making second attempt at the next Marmot that Alvar pointed him to, this time trying his best to be as silent and focused as possible. He took a moment and then sent himself forward torwards the Marmot.

Aurek managed to run it over, even knocking it over with his paws, but as the Marmot rolled before Aurek's feet and the pale boy tried to strike it, that little fat bastard got to moving and ran straight underneath Aurek's paws towards the burrow. The young boy did no even see for a second that the marmot ran straight underneath him and by the time he did, the that stupid rodent was already diving into burrow, Aurek on tail.

The pale boy's muzzle went snapping into the burrow but he missed his prey again. This was just not the way he had got use to hunting and it would take plenty of practice before he could do it. "Stupid Marmaids!!" -Aurek murmured frustratedly while lifting his leg and practically showering the burrow's entrence in protest. "Cheating bastards... Won't even give fair chase like hares."

Okay then. At least he got the experience! :D Alvar will remember him if he ever needs a friend. Your next post is the last just so you know. Thoughts. Speech.

Alvar couldn't help chuckling as he saw Aurek at the entrance to the burrow, swearing and shouting at the "Marmaids". Alvar looked around and saw that all of the marmots had gone into the burrow. Pressing his ear to the ground near a hole, he heard a series of chatters and squeaks that told him that they were now known completely, no more marmots for today. Looking over at Aurek, Alvar called out... "Stop for a second." He bent down and grabbed one of the marmots, turned, ran back and grabbed the other. He then proceeded to walk towards the younger male and set down the marmots. "You just have to get used to them, it will come with practice."

Alvar looked down at the male's frustrated face and gave him a friendly shove with his leg. "Just remember to make sure you do it quickly, skill is not a big factor with them, just speed. You learn to hunt them with speed and you will never go hungry if you can find them." He proceeded to take the tail of one of the marmots and lifted it over to be set on the ground in front of the younger male. Looking at him he thought he had better give him some assurance. "Here is yours. Hope it is enough. Just practice on them and you will learn... Thinking further he said "Memorize my scent so you can know when I am near, and also... He let out a nice long howl so that Aurek could know it. "Remember that. I am your friend, don't be afraid to call for me."

He gave Aurek a quick smile and picked up his marmot before setting off, but before he went too far he said... "And by the way, they are called Mar-mots." He then lumbered off in the direction of Driftwood surge. "Get ready for a new pack member Lachesis."

Aurek Artemieva

Aurek was quite embarrassed to leave this hunt without single kill, but these were creatures he had not really got used to hunting. Hares, even really fast ones were easier than these in his opinion. The ability to just end the chase by diving underground was so stupidly cheap tactic in Aurek's book that these.. these mammots went right away to the top of Aurek's hate list.

While Alvar was trying to encourage him with some soothing words, the pale boy was so hurt over this experience he decided he would never again hunt these stupid fatass squirrels but stick to more traditional prey when able. Had he not been so hungry, he would have refused Alvar's offer to give him a share, after all he had only been hinderance in this hunt, but it would have come off as rude - and truth be told, the boy was quite hungry. He muttered under his breath, something of an thank you towards the older male. "..ye, thanks I guess..."

He stood there and watched as his friend prepared to make departure. Alvar told the boy could call him whenever he needed help - that he was a friend, and propably this was true. Aurek did not see what had he done to deserve any friendship from this man, but he wasn't going to turn it down. He nodded while watching him depart. Alvar said one last thing before their ways diverged, trying to correct Aurek on what to call these stupid overgrown rodents. Mar-mots. Yeah ok. He would remember that. Marmutts it was...

- Aurek fade away -
