The weather had taken another turn. Whilst the past few weeks had been mild, hinting at the returning warmth of Spring, the snow and freezing winds were quick to return. Snow filtered down lightly from the thick clouds that hung above the patch of forest which nestled up against the mountain cliffs, blanketing the leaves in a dusting of pristine white. Beneath the shelter of the tree canopy though, towards the heart of the small forest, the snow was almost completely absent aside from the occasional patch beneath small breaks in the trees. It even felt a touch warmer without the wind. It was for this reason that Lorcan had decided to remain inside the boundaries of the pines that day.

The agouti male had decided to put himself to good use instead of sleeping the day away in the hopes of better conditions tomorrow. Pups would wait for no one. Lorcan moved through the maze of tree trunks with purpose, golden eyes scanning all around him as he searched for a suitable location to dig out a birthing den for the groups unplanned litters. Coming towards a slight elevation in the terrain, the male sniffed around the network of tree roots which poked out from the exposed dirt. The site was promising, but it would take a lot of work to make a habitable whelping den out of it...

Cyril Kael-Santoro

It appeared winter had one last hoo-rah before spring arrived in the lands of Lore. His plush winter fur had begun to thin, leaving the sullen boy very uncomfortable as he stomped through the mountain forest. He debated scaling down the mountain, into the woods below, to escape the worst of the cold. But, as snow started to slip between the branches overhead, Cyril quickly changed his mind, deciding to stay put instead. If the snow turned into a blizzard he did not want to be stuck on the ground below, or attempt to maneuver over the rocky terrain after a fresh dump of snow. He was no fool.

He had kept to himself since the start of the month, doing his best to avoid the female members of their group (and their smelly pelts) as well as Lorcán. Everyone was acting weird and Cyril didn’t want to be around the mess of emotions (and hormones). But, it appeared the universe had other plans, as the scent of the tawny male greeted him as he meandered through the trees. His nose instantly wrinkled, his steps faltering as he debated fleeing the scene. The boy was never in the mood for company, but if this male was supposed to be leading alongside his mother perhaps Cyril should make some sort of effort to be friendly, or whatever. With a low sigh he padded forward, his nose peaking around the trees as he watched Lorcán sniff around a series of exposed roots. He offered a soft woof in greeting, his brows narrowed in confusion.

Kip hated this. She hated every moment of it. She had determined not to leave Odin behind, if only because he hadn’t known what he was doing and she loved him. But she didn’t sleep curled up beside him these nights. He was free to sleep wherever he wanted, as long as he wasn’t out making more pups, and as long as he wasn’t touching her. He had done quite well on the no touching thing, but Kip could only hope he hadn’t found anyone else to bang. The tiny wolf was desperate to be able to trust him again.

She approached Lorcan and Cyril quietly, seafoam eyes downcast and tail low, but lashing slightly at the tip out of irritation. It wasn’t like she was able to help the fact that she was hurting, but the fact that she actually couldn’t do anything about it was pissing her off.

Yeah. Fuck emotions.

Fuck Odin.

Which would’ve been a better thing to think had one of these women actually had... Her ears drooped a bit as she sat down, waiting to see why they’d been called.

Lorcán Artemieva
Quietly he sniffed around the exposed tree roots, pressing his nose into the crevasses between them and into the surrounding dirt, as he tried to find a suitable place to start digging. His tail waved contentedly behind him. Lorcan enjoyed being busy, particularly when it meant he was doing something useful for the others. Completely engrossed in what he was doing, he only noticed he was not alone when a soft woof called out behind him. Immediately Lorcan spun around to face Cyril, dirt covering his nose. A friendly smile pulled at his lips as he waved his tail in greeting to the younger male. He hadn't seen the boy around much lately, so it was nice to see that he was doing okay. Maybe he could use this as an opportunity to get to know Piety's son a little better.

"Hey Cyril, fancy helping me out with this? I'm trying to dig out a den for Lenae." He explained with a enthusiastic smile. He didn't mention her condition straight away. He figured either @Cyril would ask or he would figure out sometime on his own. Besides, Lorcan wasn't sure if Lenae would wish for everyone to be told. The topic, after all, was a little sensitive

Spotting movement behind Cyril, golden eyes looked past the pups dark form to spot a much smaller, pale figure. He recognised those sea-foam green eyes and that tan streak up her muzzle. She was the girl that he been with Odin when he had travelled back to the monadnock from Hearthwood. Lorcan couldn't hide the confused frown that pulled at his pale brow then as he looked to her, unsure of why she was there. Had she stuck with Odin this whole time? Well this was awkward. Forcing away his frown, he waved his tail behind him slowly and offered @Kip a smile. "Kip, right?" He asked with a curious tilt of his head. "Did you, err, want to help as well?" He asked a little hesitantly, noticing the drooping of her ears, unsure if she would prefer to just sit and observe for now.

Cheedo

It wasn't until she had finally managed to catch something that she finally decided she should return to the group. She had to know if she was in trouble for what she'd said to Lenae or not. She also couldn't let the woman kill her pups and not try to do something to stop it. She wouldn't be able to live with herself if something happened to them and she hadn't tried at all to stop it from happening.

She traveled through the forest with the rabbit hanging from her jaws. Her pelt grew wetter was she traveled finally entering the forest where she knew she would find the group. The scents of Lorcan and Cyril reached her nose as well as another that she'd smelled before but couldn't place a name to. As she came through the trees she caught what Lorcan had said about digging a den for Lenae.

When she came into view her head and ears were low and her tail was tucked underneath her. She looked to each wolf that was there and recognized the female as the one that had been with Odin before they left the Monadnock. Cheedo wondered if he had told her what had happened between them. She didn't see the point in mentioning it since nothing had come of it.

The wolf she was hoping to speak to though was there, she'd have to go and find Piety later to speak with her. It was no surprise that Lenae wasn't there since she didn't want to acknowledge that she was pregnant. The small Agouti dropped the rabbit at her feet, “I can help,” she said quietly. Though she didn't really want to it was in an effort to help Lenae's pups and that was what mattered.

Piety Santoro

It seemed she was a bit slower this morning. Piety usually prided herself on being first on the scene but she was beaten by a pawful of other wolves. She took her time to approach the group closer, making a B-line for her son first. The mother did not smother him but placed a gentle nip on his cheek. He was growing so much and with them both wandering in between seeing each other she felt like he grew bigger each time she saw him. It was normally really but she wondered just how tall he might get.

Then she moved to place a small kiss on Lorcán's cheek. Piety had no shame about some public display of affection. Especially not when he smelled so heavily of her and her of him.

Kip was given a small smile. It was interesting to see the girl about but she had no qualms with her sticking around. If she was willing to help out when it was needed.

Her brown gaze finally settled on Cheedo as Piety slowly made her way towards the small female. "You were missed." Piety whispered softly to the agouti wolf, placing a delicate nip on her crown if she'd let her. Then she turned her head back over her shoulder, looking at the group. "Think we can break through the earth enough with the cold setting in again?" The dove asked with a raised brow, her gaze settled on Lorcán's masked features.

Cyril will be leaving in his next post (wanted to get 3 in for the LP <3

A den for Lenae? His nose twitched. Why did the tawny female need a separate den? Cyril chose to sleep away from the rest of the group for personal reasons, but it didn’t make sense why Lenae needed to. He didn’t answer right away, his lips falling into a thin grimace instead as another approached. The ivory female that often accompanied Odin. Whatever her name was. He sidestepped away from her, and Lorcán, his yellow gaze sweeping between the pair as the tawny male greeted her. He did not like the idea of having his friend separated from the pack—not unless it was something she wanted.

It did not take long for Cheedo to appear. Her quiet voice made it seem like she didn’t want to help, but she was going to regardless. Huh. His thoughts were pulled away from him as his mother approached, offering a soft nip to his cheek as she moved past him toward Lorcán. His expression darkened when he noticed the change in his mother’s scent. How it had returned back to normal. His tail twitched in irritation. Had his father been that easy to forget? Apparently so. The sullen boy took a step back, his frown growing deeper across his dark features. He wasn’t interested in helping them any more. Being alone seemed like a much better option.

Did she have a choice in the matter? Because if she did, she would have strongly preferred not to help... but Odin wasn’t even there, and this woman - whether Kip liked her or not - needed help. After all, even though Lenae had been half to blame in this situation, the pups she carried were completely innocent. Not to mention the fact that Kip couldn’t actually bring herself to hate any of them.

Stupid emotions.

”Yeah. I’ll help,” she mumbled, still not making eye contact with anyone. ”It’s not like she can dig a den by herself.”

This was Odin’s job. What the hell was the entire pack doing, taking over Odin’s job? Especially when the asshole wasn’t even there to help out in the first place. But why had Kip expected him to do anything differently? After all, he had run when she told him to help this woman out.

Like always, he hadn’t listened.

No posting order! Lorcan will be the round marker. Once everyone has their 3 qualifying posts, I can wrap it up :)
Next person to post who's wolf is helping to dig the den, feel free to pp them taking over from Lorcan.

Russet ears perked up as he caught Cheedo’s voice. Diverting his attention towards her, his golden gaze met her sea green stare. He gave a friendly, warm wave of his tail as he smiled to her, gaze darting down only briefly to notice the fresh rabbit kill at her paws. “Cheedo,” He greeted cheerfully. “Your help would be greatly appreciated, thank you..” He paused, pale brows furrowing in consideration. “Unless you’d prefer to cache that instead?” He didn’t want her food to go to waste just because she felt the need to be polite.

Lorcan didn’t have a chance to turn back to the others before his attention was stolen by Piety as she approached the small gathering. He smiled as she moved to greet her son and rumbled warmly as Piety moved to place on kiss on his own cheek, before watching as she slipped across to greet Cheedo.

He glanced back up to Piety as she questioned him, his pale brows raising optimistically. “If we all work together I don’t see why not. We can take it turns to step in when the other grows tired.” He looked across to Kip then and nodded his head as she begrudgingly offered to assist him as well. Finally he turned his attention back to Cyril, who had yet to give an answer. Noticing the dark frown that now tarnished his youthful features and the increased distance between him and the rest of the group. “You don’t have to help Cyril, I’m not forcing you to. If you want, maybe you could take Cheedo’s kill back to the caches, save her the trip. I’m sure she would be okay with that?” He glanced back across to the small agouti female, silently seeking her approval.

Finally he looked back over to the dirt-stained snow where he had been sniffing around before, eager to get stuck in with whoever decided to stick around to help. "I'll start us off.." He declared, and he placed a paw against the incline in the earth. Pale paws set into motion as he began to pull and claw at the hard earth, working to break away the snow and get to the roots beneath.
