Cheedo
@Daesamar

Her paws were stinging from digging into the snow, she knew it was there though, she'd seen it disappear into a little burrow. She wasn't that hungry to be desperate enough to eat a mouse but it wasn't about that really. It had occupied her for the past ten minutes at least as she chased it here and there across the forest floor. She'd been having fun which was something she hadn't felt she'd had in awhile. So many things on her mind and so many things to worry about.

Chasing the mouse had been a nice distraction from it all. As she sniffed loudly into the hole she'd created in the snow she finally decided that the game was over. It was time to get back to work, where was that Fox when she needed it? The small Agouti woman shrugged as she turned from where she'd lost the mouse. Maybe she would find something else to chase, something bigger perhaps.

Putting her nose to the ground she went in search of a trail that might lead her to something useful. That was the thing about what she was doing, she never knew what she would find. Just when she thought she might not get very lucky in that part of the woods she came across a new scent but one she'd smelled multiple times before, meat. The pack needed meat and this smelled fresh enough she turned in the direction the scent was coming from.

His eyes narrowed on concentration as the massive yearling crept along the the small trail. Lorcan had mentioned the need for hunters, his own hunting was passable at best, something he wanted to work on. Now seemed like a very good time to, his best friend @Pebble wasn’t around, but he had learned she could care for herself, hopefully resting while her wound was healing. He sniffed the air, taking in the clean air as he paused beside a tree, a new scent catching his attention.

Daesamar tilted his head slightly, he couldn’t put a name on the scent, but it was meat, that part he did know, and there seemed to be another scent mixed with it, his own pack’s. A packmate out hunting maybe? A grin formed on his ebony lips, his silver flecked tail wagging slightly, someone else to meet properly and get to know. He started to follow the trail, as it grew stronger, he paused, he didn’t want to startle them and raising his snout to the air, Daesamar let a soft howl emit, putting little thought in the fact that, everything would hear it until after the deed was done.

Before the lore and Whitestone and now the Tarn Cheedo had been a lone wolf for quite some time. She could hunt with the best of them but she also knew how to scavenge when necessary. While scavenged meat wasn't her preference it was still food. That was what she smelled then, it was something that had either been killed by something else. It could also be something that had recently died, she wouldn't know for sure until she found it and inspected it. She wouldn't bring something back if she didn't think it was safe for the pack especially now with pups on the way.

Her head came up from the ground when she heard it, a soft howl. She didn't recognize the voice so either it was a stranger to the Tarn or one of the the new wolves that had recently joined. She stopped in her search and turned toward where the howl had come from. She went in search of the wolf that had howled instead, it didn't take her long to find him either. “What are you doing?” She asked calmly. She wasn't particularly annoyed with him since she hadn't actually been hunting, her pretty wasn't going anywhere.

The young wolf grimace guilty when the scent grew stronger, a packmate he had yet to formally met came into the clearing where he stood. His mouth opened, ready to spew an apology for being so foolish as to alert every living thing in the area that predators lurked. Fully aware that the smaller female had been tracking dead pray instead. She spoke before he could utter a word, which was good since it wasn’t even really needed.

He wasn’t sure how to answer her question at first, what was he doing out here? Hunting for one, but there was also the need to learn the layout the land he had come to call home, and improve his ability to hunt, that was one of his bigger concerns. In all honesty, Daesamar wasn’t the best at it. He wanted to improve himself, then he’d be a more valuable asset then just an inexperienced yearling with a heap of stuff to learn about life.

“I smelled something, pray, got curious then I caught your scent and wanted to let ya know I was nearby.” he said quietly, before sighing softly. Apologetically he added “I er, I wasn't really thinking it through when I did that, sorry if scared what ever you were stalking.”

Cheedo

The young wolf that she came across held the scent of her pack, a recent addition she guessed. Since she'd spent quite a lot if her time outside the borders trying to optimize her chances of bringing something back for the caches. She'd been drawn away from the scent that she'd been following to go and see what he'd been howling about.

She didn't approach aggressively or in an irritated manner just inquiring. It wasn't like his howl scared what she'd been hunting off, it wouldn't he going anywhere until someone carried it off. Her brow rose as it seemed he needed to think on what it was he'd been doing by howling. When he finally spoke she listened nodding to his words. Well it seemed the boy needed a little direction and being the patient wolf that she was she knew she could help him with that.

“While it was ideal for you to let me know you were nearby it might not have been the best idea to howl. Which it seems you've already figure that out and why.” Most if that probably didn't need said but she thought it a good idea to reiterate it for him. “As for what I was hunting it's not going anywhere but we may not be able to hunt here for a little while.” She shrugged, not really minding that fact either. “If you would like you can come along and see what exactly I was up to?” She offered.

Daesamar Silverveil
A sigh of relief escaped the large wolf as Cheedo revealed that she wasn’t mad at him, she didn’t even seem slightly irritated by his naive actions. Always eager to learn more, Daesamar would happily take the female up on her offer, though part of what she said caused him to blink. He paused, his head tilted slightly in utter confusion. What she had been hunting wasn’t going anywhere? After that,s he had even mentioned that the area they stood in would probably be poor hunting for a bit because of his loud call. Daesamar’s eyes closed slowly as he tried to figure out the odd mystery.

“I….don’t follow.” He said after a few moments, frustration showing at his ability to only draw a blank on any logical solution to what she had said. “Everything’s gone, but your still tracking something in the area? Is it trapped somewhere? he inquired, his silver flecked tail swaying, gently beginning to wagging in silent excitement at the prospect of seeing exactly what she meant. “I’d love too, I’m Daesamar by the way ma’am.”

With puppies on the way they would need all capable wolves out hunting and providing for the pack and the expectant mother's. Since the prey in the area had likely been scared away by the boys howl he could get a lesson in scavenging. What else didn't she have to do anyway and she already had something picked out. It was nice how something's worked out. She smiled when it became clear that he didn't know what she was talking about.

“You will soon enough,” she stated amused. She supposed she had to get her entertainment somewhere. “Yes and no, it's not trapped somewhere and it will be rather easy to catch.” For a moment she did wonder what his expression would he when he finally saw what she was talking about. It was then she decided she would wait to tell him. “Perfect, follow me then,” she said before turning back the direction she'd come and leading him through the trees to where she'd left off.

Daesamar’s eyebrows rose slowly, his packmate confirmed exactly what he had said. She was confusing him even more with this strange paradox. SO, he had a couple of clues to go off of. It was easy to catch, it wasn’t trapped, but it wasn’t going to be startled off by his loudness. It baffled the yearling, leaving him yearning to know exactly what it was she was talking about. He smiled, his tail swaying behind him as a hopeful idea came to mind.

If Cheedo had come across some kind of new hunting method, or prey that was this easy to catch, well then they’d easily be able to feed the pack. With minimal effort even. Daesamar nodded his head quickly as he stepped behind her, following along the trail, his ears perked, nose twitching and alert as he tried to decipher the strange mystery that an almost equally strange female had given him.

Cheedo felt she had given him plenty of clues about the prey she'd been stalking, well actually looking for. She already knew that it was dead by the scent that hung in the air. It would just be another clue to the boy of what they were looking for. She was eager to find it before any other scavengers came looking for it. It was actually good luck her packmate had come along. Now he could help her to bring what they could back.

The small Agouti woman led the way through the forest. Her nose finding the scent once more and guiding her to the carcass. She moved at an easy gait weaving about the trees. Twice she looked back to check to see if her companion was still with her. She found him there following diligently and soon the scent started to grow stronger. She was glad for the snow still on the ground, it was too cold for the flies and other insects to invade the body. Not too much later and she could see a bit of brown against the snow. There she stopped and waited for the boy to catch up to her. “What I'm hunting is just there,” she said gesturing with her muzzle, “Think you have it figured out yet?”
