Outside WR's borders. For @Ravenna.
Update 19 Apr. - Possible excessive swearing?

Having a choice between going further south or going back to the other side of the mountains - through serpent's pass - Blackmoore had decided to stay on this side of the mountains and go further south. Why one might ask? Wasn't on this side he'd met someone, helped them get back up only to be left alone? Haven't he joined the pack that have disintegrated before the winter have even ended? Wasn't he retracing his steps to go home, out just out of the lore? After all, the things have not exactly worked out for him here. The thought however haven't even crossed the male's mind, despite the months of hardships he had to endure. Instead there was another that have came upon him as Blackmoore was pondering the choice of taking the serpents pass again or going the way his paws were leading him right now.

Which were towards the place that a certain woman had told him about before the winter had took it's reins to rule the land. Blackmoore have found himself quite surprised after reaching the drooping willows, despite quite accurate description of the place from the silvery woman. How did she put it? "You can't miss it? You'll know when you're there?" Well, either she had actually said that or not, it would be quite accurate thing to say. Even with spring not exactly taking hold of the land just yet, it was easy to find the willows that she had spoken of. Even leaf-less they were easy to recognize, despite the presence of other trees like beeches or birches in this particular part of the groove.

It was already past noon when Blackmoore had entered the groove, meandering through it among the trees and last few patches of the unmelted snow that had survived so long thanks to the shadows of the trees and bushes around him. With everything 'white' melting away, the ground felt a little soggy under his paws as it didn't managed to dry up yet despite the sun which kept growing in strength - declaring a definite turnaround of the seasons. It was time for nature to reborn , and it was definitely quite easy to notice in the air. The male had quite liked it, stopping from time to time to inhale on those scents as he moved on. Despite the appearances, the male wasn't sniffing on the spring flowers however...

Ravenna Archer-Lyall
and with a spark its going to be

It would be just a few weeks. Just a few weeks and her children would be born. A few weeks until Leotie's pups would be born... And a few weeks before she would find herself confined to her den while she took care of her children. Of course, Ravenna did not feel ill towards this idea. She knew that the pack was more then capable of tending to its affairs while she kept to the den. @Adeltra was more then enough willing to help her with whatever she and @Leotie needed. @Sven and @Blitz would check up on them when not on boarder patrol with @Casanova. @Lilith was an acceptional hunter, @Enia could help scout the border while Adeltra looked after the new mother's needs and @Koda and his son could help out whoever they so chose until the pups were older to which Ravenna expected Koda had the age and wisdom to help teach them. Ravenna and Leotie, after the first few weeks for the children to 'imprint' on their mothers, would raise the pups together in the Infirmary below the pack's main cave den, making it easier to take shifts as they nursed them together. Everything would be fine and yet still a worry plagued Ravenna, likely stirred up by the simple waiting game of things. The birth itself, too, which was always unpredictable no matter how much one prepared.

Ravenna would allow herself some time outside of her pack's territory while she could, however, taking it upon herself to look for the last bits of herbs for her and Leotie during the birthing and there after. Lavender for stress, sweet grass to slow the bleeding after birth, ginger root for nausea... Although Blackmoore might not have exactly been sniffing for flowers, Ravenna was, her nose touching the ground to sniff, then lifting to the skies, then down again... Whether she found herbs or whether she found prey, either would be a success for her. Although of course, being this far into her pregnancy she may have been too slow to catch anything successfully. It was obvious of her pregnancy by the rounding of her stomach from below and from the sides.

The further she moved from the territory of Willow Ridge the trees do mostly willows, filled it with smaller tree and brush, began to give way to other tree life. To the west, the willows dipped into the waters of the Lagoon where they stopped and north-west they mingled into the cedar forest until the cedars swallowed them whole. Straight north from here they lived with birch and some others and it is here within this part of the Drooping Willows did she catch the scent of someone quite familiar to her. How long had it been since she had seen Blackmoore at Whisper Caverns? Months? Longer... Since before Winter had come at all, back when she had told him to find a place to settle before the cold came after him. It was funny to think of, really, that Blackmoore was the second dark male she had met at Whisper Caverns and he, just like the first, had made it into her life once more.

Very much pregnant with the first male's pups, @Blitz, she strode into the direction of the wolf she had not seen in over half a year. A long time, for a wolf at least, who's amount of time in this world was always up in the air. She could see him there in the distance, the markings of tans on a dark coating making him unmistakable from anyone else. Being still yet far off, she woofs out to him as she trots happily towards him, tail waving.

The male haven't expect to come across anyone just yet, after all it was only a while since his paws have found and entered the groove that he had been told of so many months ago. In his mind, he hoped to come across the marks of a border in a few hours, surely before the sun would lower itself enough to cast overbearing shadows upon the earth. Yet it had looked like his search was over before it had even begun, as a call have beamed over him. Causing him to stop in order to look around for the source. His green eyes had no troubles in locating the caller, who was standing out upon the background of mostly browns mixed with few lighter patches of snow. Only then he'd recognized the familiar tone of the woof he had been greeted with, adding one to another. There was no point in trying to hide the surprise that Ravenna's appearance have caused, so the male had kept his gaze on her as she have walked to him.

But only for a moment, as Blackmoore have proceeded to turn himself to her as he pushed his paws into motion. The feeling of surprise hadnot left his muzzle however, as with every step taken his eyes were noticing the heavier pace of the wolfess - eventually realizing the full extent of changes that had taken place since their last meeting. Take by a sudden concern, Blackmoore have leapt forward to force Ravenna to slow down and eventually to a halt - before she had even reached the midway between them. The male would allow her to come a little closer, even into his personal space if she'd would want to greet him - but otherwise he'd just come to a stop before her as his eyes had gave her a curious gaze, before smiling up a little. "I bet I'm not the first to say this," He'd begun, tilting his head courtly as he'd spoke. "But I'd would like to congratulate you on your happiness. I wish you to be blessed by a strong and intelligent children." Despite a faint pinch of envy, his smile was genuine. After all, the pups were truly a blessing in his book.

Recognition. Not only did this cross the features of the male's expression, but a surprise as well to see her, which after a few moments (perhaps by the shocking surprise?) caused him to move into her direction in the same manner which it had for Ravenna. Though it seemed after another moment or two, as they closed the distance between one another, his pace quickened as though to meet her fast enough that she didn't have to work to close the distance herself. Ravenna had always walked with a heavier footing, a trudge of sorts much like her mother of not more so she to her larger size. Before however where her hips would sway with her moments, now the rounding of her stomach did and had seemingly taken over the attention.

The silver Amazon stopped in her placement now that the distance between the pair was closed off. After a moment, watching his curious expression and then a smile form over hs lips, he spoke. His voice was still a deep baritone she remembered, no more or less then Blitz or Sven's own, yet different. "No need to stand on ceremony, Blackmoore." She spoke, referring to such proper words, the tilt of his head respectfully. She smirks, her plush tail swaying. Of course she could not help but tease his still and very obvious chivalrous behavior. "Though I appreciate it. I do hope the gods look fondly to all the Willow's children this year." She spoke though she had meant not only her children but the children Leotie would birth as well, a factor which her friend here if course wouldn't know of... Yet at least.

She took a few paces closer then, 'in his bubble' if you will, as her silver eyes began to study him looking over his body, the health of it. She touched her nose to his cheek and moved it down the length of his neck in a long greeting as she breathed in his musky, thick forestry scent. She was a medic, after all and it was always in her mind to make sure those she cared for were well off. In Blackmoore's case with him being a wanderer and winter just passing, it seemed natural for her to see how the time had done for him even if others who didn't know her as well might have thought it...well, intrusive. Ravenna could be a bit blunt or even rough when looking over a patient, especially if they were not going to be compliant. Ravenna was here to fix the situation whether they liked it or not, a quality perhaps formed in her from so much loss she had previously endured.

Once Ravenna was certain everything about Blackmoore checked out, she took a step back and sat, nearly lazily. The otherwise naturally proper woman had grown tired of the upkeep of it all now that she was far more warn out and if not this, moody or nauseous. Besides, it was not like the man before her had not seen her is a less then favorable situation before. "Now Blackmoore, you didn't roam all this way to be jealous now, did you?" She couldn't help the sly expression, the dancing in her silver eyes as she allowed herself to toy with him, if only a little. She remembered that day when he said she was pretty and wondered if the thoughts still stood even heavier now as she was with another wolf's pups. He was a bit too late at 'wooing" her this year, that was for sure. But surely her old friend had some plans for being here in the South then to just visit her? She doubted the 'north had failed him' as he once said would be a reason to go south of it did. So Ravenna was left curious, a subtle expression barely seen under that false coy attitude.

"Oh but there is," The male had quipped instantly as he half smirked, half grinned from the bottom of his courteous nod and throughout it's raise. "There's no telling what these could do otherwise..." He had risen one of his tan paws in response, the left one, to underline his own words as his own eyes stared mockingly at the appendage. His emerald gaze however have quickly slipped away from the paw back at Ravenna, to see did she'd enjoyed the joke that he had just cracked up so openly. The grin had faded quickly however, replaced by a faint smile as continued with his congratulations to her and listening in to her response to those. They gave him some more clues about what had the silvery woman before him believed in. It seemed she might be a bit spiritual, but it would be completely fine with him if it was the case. After all, Blackmoore had believed in the spirits himself. Though he wasn't asking them for guidance often, believing that fate lies in his own paws - the male was very respectful to the older sets of beliefs. At least as long as they weren't barbaric or evil in any way, standing for incentive to do needless violence, harm and suffering.

Blackmoore kept himself silent and conveyed his approval with his eyes instead. After all, there wasn't a wolfish 'amen' to speak of which he could use, nor the man was too religious to begin with. But perhaps with what the male had in mind, the aforementioned gods had already lend their blessings to her and Willow Ridge. The time will tell.

Right now however, the male have found himself under assault. First from the eyes inspecting him all over. Then from her in the flesh, as Ravenna closed in to greet him in a little bit more... primal way. Being on a road for a long time, he'd almost forgot how it feels to be greeted in this manner. But the male was not going to complain, on the contrary - wasn't it nice to find himself welcomed by somebody after such long time? She brushed against his cheek and before she had moved further down his neck, he did the same. At least partially, as his nose brushed in a more polite manner, not going further down her neck. After all, he didn't deemed it to be appropriate course to take for him at the moment, but he wasn't going to complain about her doing so. The amazonian have still managed to surprise him however as she'd went further, appraising him like only physician or medic could. Or perhaps a slaver, however that option didn't even crossed his mind as that wasn't something he'd would suspect her of. The first choices however had definitely came across his mind, after all Blackmoore had some run-ins with with medics as of late. When he was caring for Sharan that is, the woman he'd found on verge of collapsing. She was one.

Ravenna's behavior had failed to throw him off balance however, as the male have not yielded under her touches, nor cringed or acted sheepishly in any way. Especially since she was relatively quick about it, stepping away from him as soon as she was finished with the procedure. He took a mental note to ask her about it later, as she did so. Perhaps she could teach him a thing or two, if his assumptions would prove to be correct. Right now however, Blackmoore's eyes were quick to pick up a subtle change in her behavior even before Ravenna flopped  lazily on her haunches. Her sly grin to match the act, as she'd spoke again, her shots turning into roaring barrage of heavy (tease) artillery as she'd let the shells fly.  "What a coquette..." He thought, letting his eyes to lock with hers as they tried to throw a lightning at her. However the storm raging upon waves of his emerald eyes had calmed almost instantly, extinguished by a spark of flirtatious attitude. The male then proceeded to smile pleasantly as he'd let his eyes wander in a way for her to know they did. "Yet I think that every healthy male should do just that, Ravenna." His eyes returned to hers, as he gave her a roguish grin before adding as his eyes sparked slyly. "And am I not a healthy male?"

He too could play this game.

A grin had formed over the male's lips, speaking as he lifted his cream paw off the ground, saying there was no telling what they could do. She couldn't help it - she smiled, then chuckled at the joke, referring to the conversation that had held so many months ago when they had first met and he poked onto things he shouldn't have. She enjoyed the reference so long ago for not only did it mean he remembered what she had said to him back then but it had mattered enough for him to make a joke of it now.

When she had looked the man over, he did not make any sly jokes and thus once more displayed his chivalrous acts. He may tease and joke back but it was not hard to tell that all and all he was a very respectable wolf. He didn't push far and perhaps when it came to any serious interactions he may not even make the first move. It was hard to tell. Ravenna had now just in this past spring incountered both sides of the coin: Elias who was very shy and questioning of himself, waiting for her to take the lead and doing as was told and then there was Blitz who boldly made the first move, not hesitating on letting others know exactly what he had in mind.

Blackmoore remained still. No tensing, no flinching, just silently and patiently awaited her to finish her quick examination of him. There was no open wounds she could see, no smell of dried blood, no sun spots, nothing seemingly out of place...

But he couldn't stay calm and cool for long as she had sat and pushed further with tease, his green eyes locking down on her, hard, which caused the smirk on her lips to grow wider, her silver eyes narrowing as though with challenge of what he may verbally backfire at her. His expression changed and then he spoke, a smile playing over his lips. "Oh I say everything seems to check out just fine." She spoke, head craning to the side as though to look him over from the side, referring back to her look over him just moments ago. "Though now that you are here, what will you do? Did the northern reaches not work out after all?" She spoke as she leaned back, placing her attention back to the features of his dark face. Although his coy words might have suggested he came all this way to seek her out, surely there had been other means for him to be traveling once more. After all, she could have only assumed he had settled down over the winter.

Oh, she just couldn't let it go, didn't she? She had to have a last word, last tease. But the male haven't minded that, as he had simply smiled in response. After all, he had just made her laugh with his joke - so it was okay. Both of them have scored a point in his mind, causing him to smile and simply feel comfortable. "No they didn't, but neither I have planned them to." He'd spoke after a short moment, tilting his head slightly to the side as they went down to business. "If not for certain occurrence, I would have come here with the first snow at the latest." The dark male stated, his voice thoughtful at the reminder of the events long past that have got so much out of hand. First finding a woman on the brink of death, followed by throwing himself and her into a nearest pack in order to survive the winter... Then the said pack crumbling down in almost the middle of it...

But he didn't regret it, he did a right thing. Besides, doing the right thing usually makes the life harder and the dark male knew that better than most. "However..." The male continued, as his eyes wandered a little towards her swollen belly. His gaze more thoughtful than anything else. "I believe that saving a life is as important as creating one." His eyes have slipped off her and gazed behind her left shoulder for a fraction of a second as the male continued, taking a few steps towards her. "And that's what kept me up north until now. That's what had me delayed..." Until the male found himself close enough to try nuzzle himself against her left cheek, just like she did to him moments ago. If allowed, the male would not push it far, just enough to appear affectionate without crossing any boundaries (if not, he would smile apologetically and would keep his eyes focused on her for the most part). His reasons for being modest have been quite different this time however, as the male had kept his cheek and part of the neck brushed against her. Blackmoore kept himself calm, despite that his eyes begun to trash wildly from side to side - inspecting the wood behind her. "I hope this doesn't make you mad though." The male muttered, the reason for her anger left unspecified.

From the outside the situation should appear normal, perhaps even pleasant and Blackmoore was well aware of that fact. That was his goal for now, while his eyes have locked on two, no, three silhouettes lurking in a treeline some distance away. "We're being watched. Keep calm." The dark male have hushed from behind her ear as the man's eyes narrowed as they sunk into study. Man's mind analyzing the perceived movement, size and colour of the figures he'd noticed. "Coyotes. Three of them some distance away. They look like trouble." He'd spoke, keeping his cool despite a few more mischievous gazes coming from the yote trio.

Blackmoore have pulled his head back, forcing a subtle but reassuring smile onto his maw as he proceeded to look down right into Ravenna's eyes. Their noses almost touching together, however the male have not even realized that, nor felt the usual sting in his chest that would normally accompany a situation like that. No, as his mind have been analyzing the current situation and had been consumed by it in it's entirety. He wasn't devout of emotions, as the male was being gripped by the ice cold paws of anxiety. Blackmoore however had kept himself off from showing it, as he tried to reassure Ravenna. "From what you have told me, Willow Ridge is close by right? I think we should go there..." The male smiled up a little, while his eyes kept alternating between her and the coyotes that have stood together, talking, plotting most likely. Hatching a plan that seemed like trouble. Only now Blackmoore have realized that one of the three coyotes appeared to be noticeably smaller than the other two. Perhaps being youngest in the group. "Just keep calm, whatever idea they may had - I'm with you." His eyes returned to hers as he'd spoke, underlining the point.

Meanwhile the smallest of the coyotes have broke out from the group and begun slowly trotting their way, gaining speed as he'd go. "Go, lead the way." He'd spoke, as his maw turned away to look at the brave - or stupid, depends on the point of view - canis latrans that was coming towards them. The male had no idea what was his plan, was he coming to talk to them? He doubted it, though he'd heard legends about some coyotes managing to talk and communicate in their language, but as he'd was saying - those were just legends. To him all he'd ever heard from a member of their species were unrecognizable cackles and growls after all. Whatever it was going to be, the dark male wasn't going to risk it as he'd stepped in between the on-comer and his friend to block access to her. Announcing openly that they have been aware of them for a moment now. "Run if I get loud, okay?" He'd spoke, as his eyes realized they lost the other two. Blackmoore's tail swished violently in response as he'd felt a sudden rush of rage flowing into him while his deeply emerald eyes searched frantically for the other two.

Shit!

A deep growl have erupted from his maw, as soon as his eyes found out the other two - going separate ways in order to encircle them. The youngster had to be there just for distraction. Fuck! I got duped! His growl turned into a vicious snarl that curled his lips up and bared his fangs, causing the young coyote to loose it's footing as he tried to jump away in opposite direction despite being still a few good leaps away from the dark wolf - followed by a mocking cackle coming from the other coyotes. Fortunately for the pregnant Ravenna, Blackmoore was one of those males that kept their head straight on top of important things. Maybe some other fool would charge the tripped pest, but that would leave her open for an attack from the other two. But not Blackmoore, as the male turned snappishly and leapt after Ravenna. "Run, don't let them stop you. If it comes to worst, lie down on the ground!" He yelled from behind her, following her footsteps to glue up to her like a mythical bur to the dog's tail. That way the male will be able to jump to the either side if any of the more grown up mutts was getting too close. He didn't know the way, nor how far Willow Ridge is, but hopefully close enough that someone have managed to hear the vicious growl of his. If not, he'd would have to join Ravenna in her call for help. To the best of his abilities of course, while trying to keep her safe.

Woah, my first post to break 1k wc (1168) on RoW. Anyhow, once Vami posts up - the thread is open for joiners. For those who'll want to influence coyotes (I've been told that is what we can do, hence the length of this post): - I have made one of coyotes to be younger and smaller from the other two. Also perhaps less patient than the rest. Also they cackled from the youngster, as he'd got spooked by Blackmoore's growl - so perhaps they're a little more experienced? I'll leave that for Vami and everyone who joins in to decide.
Also I'm giving permission to Vami to PP Blackmoore a little in her post if she wishes so - once they begun to move. Blackmoore's goal is to literally stay on her tail and take the blow if needed till help (or my turn) arrives.
Oh also. Shots fired. Feel free to curse and swear.

Ravenna Archer-Lyall
As Ravenna and Blackmoore keep running towards Willow Ridge, any other WR members may now join to help either fight or fend off the coyote to help Ravenna make it safely past the border.

and with a spark its going to be

Blackmoore went on to explain that the northern reaches of the Lore had not worked out for him nor had he planned them to. He went on to say that had it not been for certain circumstances he would have been down here before the first snowfall. He had wanted to join her pack then, after all and she held back the happiness she felt to this as she listened on. What would have happened had Blackmoore returned before winter, before spring even? Would he have wiggled his way into her affections instead? Would the pups inside her then be his own? She didn't know for whether the wolf before her had been here or not she doubted Her feelings towards Elias or Blitz would be different, though maybe her actions would have?

It was always interesting to play the 'what ifs' game but it didn't matter. Ravenna after meeting Blackmoore that day did not know if she would ever see him again. Didn't expect to if he was settling up north. He was here now however and perhaps with it their friendship could grow into something worth being proud of and he could be of great use to the pack, make it stronger.

He said that saving a life could be just as important as creating one and his eyes glanced to her side a moment and then he stepped closer. This is what he delayed him, he said. A noble enough reason that he had been held up because he had been tending to someone. Perhaps he was a healer and had been treating her? Perhaps he had found her and he and her had come to a pack to settle? She was not able to get the details, didn't really need them either... When he stepped close enough to nuzzle her cheek she could not help the slight waving of her tail between her legs which rested down and relaxed. Of course she thought of Blitz and what he might think but she equally knew that she was owned by none. It was not uncommon for wolves to display such manners of affection, either. Especially if he was a member of their ranks which he very well may end up being. "It doesn't." She answered simply and why would she be mad? As mentioned, she didn't think she would have ever seen that wolf she had met in the caverns again, same as she had not ever expected to see Blitz when she had met him there. Now both were in her life which she was happy for.

Then he spoke up. Saying they were being watched would have made her think of a lone wolf, even one of her pack mates which had finally caught her trail out of the border and came to watch over her and her unborn while she picked herbs silently to herself. Three coyotes lurking in the background had not been expected. They normally ran off from their much bigger, stronger, better cousins. Why were they here? There was no kill around and she doubted that the group would decide to settle so close to a wolf's territory. He pulled back though only slightly so that they could meet eye to eye, their noses just barely touching. In those eyes she could see the emerald green of them fully broken only by swirling bits of sapphire like churning waters. He would keep a smile on his face, eyes shifting between her and the coyotes just behind her. She nodded gently to his words about Willow Ridge being close by though otherwise remained silent for the time being.

Again, he told her to be calm. Just be calm. She couldn't help but sneer despite how badly the situation could go. "Your lucky I'm pregnant or I'd show you how little of a damsel I am. I'm not afraid of no fucking coyote." She spits, her voice cloaked in venom at the thought of the scavengers and she looked to Blackmoore seriously. He should have been aware from her build alone she was no pushover. Growing up along @Sven had insured that. "...But the pups..." Her voice lightened at the mentioning of them. While Ravenna could handle a beating and might have enjoyed running those coyotes off along side of Blackmoore, her children's fates from within her was not something to be bargained with.

Once he told her to start moving she was off. Momma didn't raise no fool. Her pace was hastened though not a flat out run just yet until it was needed so not to waste energy and ware down. Maybe the coyotes were just protecting a piece of land, food near by... Pups, something surely to set them off. Either way she was not waiting to see if the coyotes would follow her. Regardless, they would pay for their actions. Her head lifted, sending out a howl to her fellow packmates. And then Blackmoore told her to run. She could hear him just behind her though she could also hear the running of two coyotes on either side of them, the youngest taking up the rear. The younger coyote may have been smaller, less skilled with the hunt, but he was the lightest and faster if the group. Surely he could catch up to Blackmoore in no time, snapping and biting at the man's heels them dancing off to the side as though to avoid a counter attack, fearful of what the large wolf would do to him should be get caught but oh what a rush.

The adult coyote at either side of the two wolves caught up, straight at their sides as Ravenna was not as fast with the extra weight of pups in her gut. With panic and being worn down taking its toll on her she could feel herself getting slowly, feel Blackmoore nearly colliding into her from this. Surely she could make it just running like this but with the slowly pace would ghe coyote encircle them, close in? And then what? Either way, Ravenna kept moving. She couldn't stop. Wouldn't.

Leotie Rhys
not looking for some fairytale bliss

The weeks until her pups arrived felt like they were passing slowly giving too much time for worry to set in. The larger she grew she started wondering how many were in stomach. She wondered how much bigger she would get, by now she was obviously pregnant. This however didn't keep her from doing her work. She was not as fast as she once was and took her time to do things. She hadn't hunted much afraid she would hurt her children but border patrols could be taken at a leisurely pace. It was good for getting a little exercise and working off some energy.

That was what she'd been doing when Ravenna's howl echoed through the willows. It was obvious that she needed help, Leotie wasn't just going to leave her alpha and friend out to be hurt or worse. She took off in the direction of the howl as fast as she could at that point in her pregnancy. She soon saw up ahead Ravenna and another wolf sprinting for the border and behind them, coyotes. It had not escaped the Agouti woman the signs had increased but she'd hoped they wouldn't be so bold. She was wrong.

She didn't hesitate at the border and instead ran out to protect her alpha the best she could. Leotie could see that Ravenna was tired from running and the coyote on her heels had started to gain on the silver woman. She ran out barking hoping the sound would scare the coyotes away or at least cause them to put some distance in their pursuit. When she was only a short distance she would snap her jaws at the scavengers in hopes to give Ravenna time to put some distance between herself and them.
