It was time to boost morale. However, as much as Lachesis wanted to retaliate and chase another deer into the heart of Keep territory he was no fool. If they were going to attack their undesirable neighbours they were going to have a plan. Maybe even some backup. But he wasn’t going in blindly; that was for his impulsive, moronic neighbours.

For now he needed to keep his subordinates fed and strong. Keep them stimulated so they did not grow dull of the Surge. The pack’s neighbours had mostly remained the same over the summer months despite his hopes for them to expand. He was thankful for the river wolves and their unwavering loyalty amongst the sudden drama that had plagued them. Mostly he was thankful for his mate for keeping him sane and keeping him rooted to the mountain forest when he wanted nothing more than to march into the heart of the Keep—

He gave his head a shake as he started off to the southern edge of the lake: where he had last seen the herd of mule deer. There had been an older buck with a subtle limp he had singled out previously; he just hoped that he was not too lake to slay the beast.

He had given a call for his subordinates (including the children) to follow if they were nearby. He did not expect the entire pack to show up nor would he enforce it. He only needed a pawful of wolves to take down the buck.

The ghost streaked through the trees, following the trail of deer toward the edge of the lake. Perhaps the deer believed that seeking out the large body of water would keep them safe from the river wolves… little did they know it would only make it easier for the pack to corner them and prevent them from escaping. More specifically the buck he’d chosen.

He watched from the treeline as he group of deers headed, cautiously, to the edge of the water. His chartreuse gaze remained fixated on the chosen one as he waited for his subordinates to join him.

Jynx Myrddin

Permission given from Arla to assume @Legolas is with Jynx.

Jynx was spending more and more time with Legolas. Ever since she had caught him (and saved him from becoming dinner for the coyotes), she had grown fond of the boy. She could sense a bond developing between her and the young Stark. When he wasn't busy exploring off on his own, or with his siblings, she was always happy to spare a moment for him. She took to educating him on many subjects, such as what to expect as the weather turned colder. She offered him pointers in best how to keep his friend, Chip, growing strong. She had even helped him construct a warm little nest, bedding and all, for the young bird.

She had been taking a stroll along the shore of the lake with the pale kid, telling him about the variety of species that might be found within it's depths. From fish, turtles and snakes, all the way to the occasional otter. That was when, mid step, she heard Lachesis' voice. Calling for the pack to come hunt. A slow smile spread to her lips. It was about time. All three of the Stark children were old enough to watch from the sidelines. "We should go. This will be a first for you." She said, glancing down towards his lovely green eyes, and of course, Chip. Though she wasn't sure how Legolas would react to seeing a mule deer brought down. With a playful little bow, she raced him to the southern point of the lake, where she could already begin to smell the deer. As the pale form of Lachesis appeared ahead of her, she slowed down considerably, shooting her tag along a look to follow suit. Sitting amongst the cover of the trees, she pulled up next to her superior's side. Jynx was bound and determined to earn that role of lead hunter. She would miss no hunt, not when knowing her experience could be so useful. The Surge had missed out on a meal before, but this one was all theirs.

Emrys Myrddin

The colder months were approaching which meant the healer would need to spend more time doing other jobs in the pack. He didn't mind patrolling the borders but hunting in winter often times was rather disappointing. He'd decided on a patrol that morning and since the coyote numbers seemed to have dwindled he didn't expect to find much out of the ordinary.

He'd nearly finished up when he heard Lachesis call from outside the territory. He needed help with a hunt, this was something Emrys could do. Leaving the border he headed towards where his friend had called from.

He soon found the alpha who he dipped his head to in greeting. Jynx was there too with one of the pups, Emrys hadn't had the chance to really get to know any of them. He took a seat a short distance behind the trio to wait for any others to arrive.

Oksana Baranski

She'd been running herself in a rock just outside the borders. She hadn't been expecting the small jets of pain through her leg that the cold brought. The sun helped though and she felt she might get taking more advantage of it as the weather became colder.

She shot up though when she heard Lachesis call. Jumping down off the rock the crow ran as fast as she could to the meeting place. This was get chance, she hoped that she would be able to help and show the pack she could do the job.

Upon her arrival she found Lachesis with Jynx and Legolas. Behind them was the healer Emrys, she greeted each of them with a smile before bumping her nose under Lachesis chin.

Lilya Valrorys

Lilya kept tabs on as many of their wolves as she could at a given time; with tensions rising, and an unwelcome neighbor to the north, she wanted to make sure everyone stayed safe, particularly her mate, children, and Oksana. Oksana was recovered, but she was still a yearling, and one that Lilya had known essentially since she’d been born; the woman wanted to make sure the girl didn’t fall in harm’s way. She’d caught the scent; she had been tracking it herself to see how big the herd was when she heard her mate’s call. She broke into a run, a wide grin on her face. A hunt was just what she needed to get her anxious paws off the idea of a war.

Emyrs, Jynx and Oksana had already arrived before the queen had, a soft nod to each of them in greeting as she analyzed the herd for herself. Piece of cake. She thought to herself, noting the fact that they were gathered towards the edge of the water, her smile turning into a grin. It would only make it easier to take down whichever deer it was that Lachesis had chosen for them. She glanced at her mate, waiting for the game plan.

Makvala Stark

Darling it is no joke, this is lycanthropy

Makvala was mystified by her father’s call, quickly letting her slightly-less-awkward-than-before paws carry her towards the meeting location, her tongue lolling out of her mouth and her eyes flashing with mischief. Her tail was wagging furiously, and when she arrived she saw not just both of her parents, by Jynx and Emrys and even Oksana. She quickly found her way next to Oksana, a soft headbutt to the girl in greeting before she whispered to her father. “What’re we doing, papa?” She was still unaware of the reason of the call – after all, she only half listened to pretty much anything that was said to her.

She looked at Oksana to see if maybe the older girl had an answer as to why they were all hiding behind bushes. They were almost by the lake! Were they gonna go swimming? They weren’t gonna go swimming, Mak was almost convinced. She glanced over at what her ma and papa were looking at to see giant creatures - deer. “Ou, are we huntin’?” She asked again, still keeping her voice in a soft whisper; Ana had told her being super loud only scared food away! They could hunt then they could swim.

Helen
Helen was strolling back towards the pack's territory, often tossing worried glances to the sky. Thankfully, only light rain drops landed on her back and dripped down her fur, a nice change for the icy hail storm she was caught in a few days ago. She was washed with relief that it wasn't raining hail here. Ever since the last storm she was caught in, she had been quite paranoid about the weather.

Before she reached the borders, a distant call broke the peaceful silence. The leader - he was calling for a hunt. A tingling sensation of excitement ran up her spine. Oh boy! A pack hunt! Time to prove myself. Without any hesitations, she made her way towards where the voice came from, her legs running as fast as they could. After waiting for days for her sprained ankle to recover, it felt good to be able to run again.

A little crowd of wolves had already gathered there. As she was new, she didn't know any of them, but was sure by the strong scent that they were her pack members. Upon seeing the leader, she tipped her head in a respectful bow, before waiting eagerly for the hunt to begin.

Legolas Stark

He liked spending time with Jynx. She reminded him of both his father and his mother. She was patient when it came to his stutter and his reluctance to pass the borders. She seldom treated him like a child and fed him with whatever information he sought after. She was not as loud as his rambunctious siblings and took time out of her busy schedule to check in with him. Sometimes, if he was lucky, she even allowed him (and Chip) to join on her patrols. Heck, she even helped with little Chip! The russet female had helped the ivory boy collect nesting material and scour the forest for little worms to feed his feathered friend.

The boy marched dutifully at her side as they meandered along the edge of the lake, his ears cupped in her direction as he listened intently to the words spilling from her mouth. It was a lot of information to process and little Legolas was doing his best to remember every word. However a howl cut through the air, putting an end to their lesson. Dad! His head snapped around, his little bird-friend clinging desperately to his ivory fur. A hunt?! He swallowed. He did not know if he was ready for a hunt but Legolas knew he had to go. His siblings would taunt him f o r e v e r if he did not make an appearance. Without hesitation he followed after the tawny female, his gangly legs moving as quickly as possible beneath his plump frame.

Once his father was in view Legolas sprinted past his companion and pressed a big, sloppy kiss to his father’s cheek. He beamed at the older Stark before taking a step to the side, his expression bashful as he averted his gaze from the arriving wolves.

The alabaster Stark was pleased to find his ivory son and Jynx among the first to arrive, and that they were spending more time together. There was a lot the boy could learn from his aunt and Lachesis hoped that his son paid close attention to what the older wolf taught him. The russet female’s mate followed closely behind, along with Oksana. He nodded at both of them in turn before his tawny mate made an appearance, earning a bright smile from the Stark. Makvala was hot on her mother’s tale, sauntering right up to him with a question rolling off her tongue. He flashed her a lopsided smirk as he watched her answer her own question with another one. His chartreuse gaze flickered over to the pack’s newest addition, and their lowest, before returning to the group of deer gathered at the edge of the lake. Fortunately, for the river wolves, the herd seemed unbothered by his call. Perhaps they knew what was coming and had accepted the fact that one of them would fall prey to the pack.

I believe we are overdue for a pack hunt, he addressed his subordinates with a soft smile across his handsome features, his peridots returning to the group. Makvala and Legolas: this will be your first hunt but you will be observing only. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of time to hunt in the future. But for now watch. Soak it all in. He knew Makvala would not be happy about sitting on the sidelines. I have already selected which deer we will hunt, but can you two figure it out…? He asked, hoping that this would help them feel more included although they wouldn’t be participating in the chase.

Lilya — could you organize the groups? He added, his voice soft as he turned to his mate, his tail wagging slowly behind him.
