It had taken all her fragile courage to approach Danton. But she needed to leave the Cedarwood and didn’t feel comfortable doing so alone after the last time. What if that crazy black woman was still lurking about out there? She was sure she would be eaten.
Although she had succeeded in her bid to rise up the ranks, and had gained great confidence in doing so, the outside world still terrified her. So many open spaces, so many predators just waiting for her to leave the safety of her home. Maybe even a few bobcats hell bent on revenge? Who knew? Her imagination ran away with her at times.
And so, meek as a mouse, she had found him, her tail hung low between her hocks, waving from side to side, her ears pinned back, unable to look him in they eye, shyness gripping her heart as she stumbled on her words. Hellebore. She needed hellebore for Follko, but she couldn’t possibly go out alone. It was a pitiful admission for the second ranked female of the pack to make. In her home she was gaining confidence, but out there?
She wasn’t sure if it was Jayse’s words when he was accepted that compelled him to come, or if he was simply grateful for a chance to stretch his legs but he was here with her none the less.
She stuck close to the much larger wolfs side, nervously bumping against him on occasion when she flinched at a branch snapping in the distance or a bird unexpectedly taking flight. It was a big scary world out here. She was more than grateful for the company.
