He had swept down the side of the hill and into the Lore like a thunderstorm. His anger at the pain in his ankles and paws seethed just beneath the surface, roiling, threatening to boil over. However he had seen naught but the creatures he expected in the woods. Rabbits that ran at his approach, Deer that darted away. Avians taking flight in a flurry of feathers that he spent some time snapping at, to listen to their cries of terror. Night had found the brute asleep near a thick tree, and morning dawned, with it bringing a sloth-like feeling. His belly was full - an unfortunate pheasant that had not flown fast enough to escape his jaws. A thing that amused him, considering he was quite slow when it came to that kind of thing. Perhaps it had been too sick.. or maybe too fat for its wings. It had provided a hearty meal. Dual-toned eyes parted, revealing irises of blue and mahogany, his attention shifting around him. He was alone, and it was glorious. The weather was still cool enough that he could /almost/ see his breath.. But not quite. Getting to his feet, a growl was released from his muzzle as his paws ached with an all-too-familiar pain. He had traveled too much yesterday and was paying for it today. Grumbling to himself, Damien ventured towards the cool waters of the Lagoon, hoping that by stepping into the lake, he could take some weight off of his legs and rest them. The water was soothing, like a balm on hot injuries. It made him smile, a toothy grin that looked somewhat sinister. Wading farther, the shaggy male paddled until his feet no longer touched the murky bottom. Already, he could feel the ebb of the pain in his extremities. Slowly, the wolf paddled his way around until he came across a rather large log adrift in the water. It served as a perfect location to place his head, allowing his nose to remain above water so he could stop paddling with his feet. There... much better. At least for the moment, until the log drifted away from him. For now, however, he could enjoy the painless, weightless feeling. "Speak" |
