Triell Tainn
Awesome thanks guys. Lets see what happens with this. :3@Serach @Sceral @Spieden @Drestig @Zera
I'll be the bright, and black, that's making you run

Fear had driven the buck forward, once in the river the deer seemed to realize it was do or die now. The veteran faced his attackers. The Tainn in any other circumstance would have thought about giving the warrior what he wanted, but he could not now. Momentarily he meet the deer's harsh, obsidian stare, seeing from the corner of his eye, the sharp tines the deer was intent on using. A challenge only made Triell more hell bound to accept it.

Pink tongue snaked between his lips with the rise of a crude snarl. Then his teeth clicked, and he took a commanding step forward, not willing to back an inch. All the while the brute's thick, dark hair bristled from neck to tail, and the leader raised his lips, his snarl ripping more forcefully from his throat. He was carefully weighing his options, trying to confuse their prey. It was not until the buck swung its head around, did Triell realize the efforts of his team mates.

It became more about doing, then waiting. The seconds being the measurement of pain or victory. Others were closing in, the sooner they dropped he fighting deer the better. Unknowing of little Zera's own decided plot, the Tainn hurled himself up, heavy jaws plummeting into the side of the buck's throat. By strength he hung there, jerking with force, and weight. He had been unable to reach its windpipe, if he could help upset the balance, make it bleed, the deer would be the one losing.

At the end of my post, the buck is in the process of falling into the water. So I think one more post from everybody and we can wrap it up?

There was no chance in hell that their meal was going to escape them, not today. The pack had turned into a swarm, their snarls and growls a ravenous orchestra of their upcoming triumph. The buck was bleating, his antlered head swinging back and forth. But Spieden was pulling him down on one side, and on the other, Drestig had taken hold. The others were there too, snapping at the buck's heels. Slightly downriver, Serach noticed out of the corner of his eye that there was now blood in the water. It only served to fuel his fire. With jaws open wide, Serach through himself into the fray. With so many wolves tugging at the beast, the youth was less cautious than he should have been of flailing hooves. But like Drestig and Spieden before him, he was fortunate to bite into the buck's leg without worry. After that, it all happened in the blink of an eye. Triell faced the buck head on, and in the next moment, he was hanging from the creature's neck. Serach could smell the blood in the air and the bleating grew to a feverous panic.

With so many wolves hanging on to him, the buck's balance was damn near gone. The slippery rocks underneath the moving water didn't help. Their prey continued to struggle for only a moment, but inevitably, the weight of the pack was too much for him to handle anymore. Serach wasn't sure which happened first: the knees giving out or the buck toppling over sideways. Unwilling to be pulled down underneath the great weight, the youth let go of the hide and backed up. "Watch out!" he cried to the others.

Arcania Soli
-Smacks self for being late on this and the fact that it is so short - grouping everything together?-

Arcania had considered staying behind to look after the pups and the other wolves took off. She cursed under her breathe as she rushed forth to join them, trusting that the pups would stay back by themselves. She kept her eyes peeled as she saw a small flash of black and concern overtook her. Was that... ZERA? "ZERA!" She called out, rushing to get between the girl and the deer to get the pup out of there. She should have stayed with the pups. She should have known that either one of them would have tried a crazy stunt like this. She cringed inwardly as a certain protective feeling rushed through her. She would cut herself in between the deer and the girl before trying to steer it clear of her.

The deer would fall by the paws of many and it would fall into the water. The blood spread as Arcania took the opportunity to catch her breathe. She looked towards Triell, wondering if he knew of his daughter's actions or if he had heard the call. She then looked to Zera to make sure that she was not harmed. She was relieved when it looked like she had not been harmed. She backed away from the deer and sat down, watching the others. Her mind was rushing with forms of adrenaline and a feeling of power surged through her.

Drestig Avalon
Just call him uncle-protective-pants xp

Victory was theirs! The buck was still fighting, but it was with his last breaths; the pack had surrounded him, and their strength and numbers were too great for any beast, no matter how mighty, to overcome. All around Drestig, the wolves of Oak Tree Bend were snarling and snapping their jaws, jumping at the prey from all directions to stress it. The black lad kept his grip tight, jerking at the fleshy shoulder of the deer and writhing his neck to tear open the wound even more. The hot sweetness of blood was filling his maw, and he felt the euphoria of a successful hunt rush through his veins; YES! Out the corner of his eye, he saw something black leap up, catching hold of the bucks throat, large weight pulling it down; Triell! Had his mouth not been full, he would have grinned broadly at his friend and leader. Instead he snarled ferociously into the meat, giving another violent jerk of his head.

With the added weight of Triell at his neck, the buck could no long hold himself up. Drestig could feel the trembling in the strained muscles under his hold, and soon, the beast's knees started buckling. The ebony boy's front paws, which had been suspended in mid air as he hung from the deer's breast, again found solid ground - or well, as solid as plausible, out in the middle of the stream, claws digging into the mud, paw pads skidding against slippery rocks - and with his newfound foothold, he began pulling backwards, trying to drag the leg out from under the buck. He could feel himself succeeding, with the help of the others, and somewhere behind and to his left, he heard the familiar voice of Serach calling a warning; the deer was falling.

Drestig was pulling back, loosening his grip to let his teeth slide through the meat and get free of the toppling beast; then he heard another shout. This one came from further away, somewhere behind him, and he vaguely recognized the voice as one of the new girls; he couldn't recall the name at present, and didn't waste time on it, as the one word shout consumed him; ZERA! He swirled around, paws sliding a bit over the riverbed, fiery eyes gliding swiftly over the land behind them. It was a mess, as the remnants of a hunt usually was, panicked animals running in all directions. Most of them were gone by now, having used the time the wolves had spend taking down the buck to get out of the area, leaving only the trampled dirt behind. A few were still galloping around with wide eyes, finding themselves caught by the river and snarling enemies ahead, and other wolves behind them. Drestig's gaze zeroed in on them. @Zera, that little fool, had run right out into the herd, and the young shewolf, Arcania was her name, was hurrying to her side to stop her before she got hurt.

The dark lad barked in alarm, sprinting back towards the two, dodging a few terrified deer on his way. As he ran, he studied the scenario; Is she hurt?! PLEASE don't let her be hurt! She looked okay, now safe behind the cinnamon yearling, but where was @Darrah? Drestig reached them, gasping slightly with his tongue hanging out, and came to a skidding halt. Anger and fright in his voice, he snarled at the black girl; "Zera! What are you doing? You could have been killed!" He sent a quick, grateful glance at Arcania, then looked back to the pup; "Are you hurt? Where is your brother?!" His voice was sharp, demanding response, and while he waited, he looked around again, desperately hoping that the more careful youth had been sensible enough to stay out of trouble.

Zera Tainn

zera tainn

The pale eyed Tainn kept her eyes on the blunt, blood-beating hooves of the stampede. Not only did they tease her electric eyes like a mouse from a cat, but they also hurtled closer as she did, failing to waver from the prowl of wolves. They kept running. She wondered how long it would be before they finally realized they were going to die. And they kept coming. Zera kept her pace, glancing around to the other adults that charged ahead. She returned her gaze to the deer and their spindly legs that towered far over her inky blur of a body. They kept charging. And she couldn't take it anymore. With fright in her over-exerted heart, she lept from the line, hearing the voices of Arcania and Drestig bleed into the open air. She didn't look over her shoulder, she didn't care about anything but the reality of how close she came. If she could feel anything it was death over her shoulder, looking her straight in the eye with a smile perching and pupils forever wide. She could taste it.

She watched with eyes low in the sod, the remaining efforts of the buck. She took note of the way her father attempted to end the life, constricting neck between his razor jaws. She never knew him to be anything but gentle, and she guessed that even this was gentle of him. He kindly tipped that deer into the river, so he could drown and die in the currents of his own blood. Zera whimpered as it fell, somehow feeling the hooves graze her skin. The wave of guilt washed over her, just as the final splash soaked the deer. She never wanted to leave this patch of high grass. She never wanted to face the ferocity of her family. She never wanted to face a deer.

But she'd have to face the consequences of this evening, and that meant facing the deer again.

Darrah Tainn

Darrah was so intrigued with everything going on. The older wolves wasted no time getting at their prey, the way they all moved.. Fearsome yet graceful. The prince could only hope that one day he would move with such elegance and accuracy.. His eyes laid mainly on his father.. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Every last move looked completely planned, though he had probably done this a million and one times. "He's so powerful..." Darrah whispered whilst keeping perfect concentration. "Im gonna be like that when I hunt" he yelped in excitement.

It wasn't intentional, but as the prince watched his father hunt he seemed to have... Wandered off to a better viewing spot. It wasn't like he was in danger or anything, the boy was in fact still very close to the rest of the wolves who stayed behind just... Not where he should of been really... He hadn't even noticed till some sort of chaos broke through.. Something about his sister involving herself in the hunt? "Go figure." he rolled his eyes. She was always doing crazy stuff like this. Why couldn't she just obey the rules for once? He was probably going to be in trouble too thanks to her. He tried to sneakily make his way back to the other wolves, just in time to hear Drestig questioning his whereabouts. Great. "I-I'm here... I'm okay I was just watchin' from over there..." he nudged his head in the direction of his 'perfect viewing spot' "S-sorry...." he sighed.

Spieden Coho

Spieden threw her entire weight into her tugging at the deer's knee, right up until his antlers swung right towards her and made contact with her temple. Her jaw popped open as she yelped, flying back through the water as the tension her teeth were holding was released. Splashing and snorting water from her nose, Spieden tried to right herself in the water and get her feet settled on the slick bottom.

Stars swirled in front of her eyes as she tried to keep her bearings set on the green leafy bank, the brown and grey splotch that was the hunt growing smaller as she drifted downstream. By virtue of being a river wolf, born and raised, and not small enough to get lost in the current like a pup, she managed to swim into the shallows. With effort she pulled herself up onto the river bank, shaking the water from her soaked pelt. She could see clearly now, but her head hurt something awful. She returned to the side of the hunt, finding the deer already felled and someone yelling at one of the cubs over something or other.

The deer's last few bleats faded as his blood darkened the water. Spieden would help in dragging the carcass from the water, and wait at the side before it was her turn to tuck into the feast. She wasn't optimistic that any of the good parts would be left for her, but at least it was fresh.

Going to close this thread out per our group decision in the pack forum. If you've participated in the majority of the rounds, feel free to claim LP!

The cries of the dying deer was a triumphant chorus of victory for the wolves. Saliva was dripping from Serach's jaws and as the chaos of the hunt began to still, he anxiously began to pace, his footsteps sending ripples of water in all directions. Zera and Darrah both were safe, and though he wasn't entirely sure what had happened, he had heard shouts of worry as the hunt had reached its climax. But they all looked to be safe now, and that was all that mattered. Now, the task at hand was to eat, but before they could do that, they would need to drag the deer out of the water and onto dry land. It wasn't terribly deep where they were, but too much water would spoil the kill faster and with winter on its way, who knew when they would get another opportunity like this one?

Stepping up to the kill, Serach caught the eye of his uncle before bending down. Resisting the urge to pull back from the carcass to eat, the yearling instead bit down and began to tug. The rest of the pack was quick to help and soon enough, they had successfully dragged their meal onto dry land where finally, their hard earned feast could be enjoyed.
