He thought it was supposed to feel different. After all, humans made such a big deal of it, especially on the moving picture box. But this didn't feel like anything. It just felt like he had bumped noses with her, but the strange feeling from before still throbbed in his head. Why didn't it work? Was it because there was no music and no little flames on those strange white holders? He was sorrily disappointed in himself.

When he withdrew from her, it was obvious that she hadn't felt anything either. And. Oh god, she didn't even have a clue what he had just tried to do. <i>Well! That's even more embarassing!</i> Waves of chagrin quickly overtook him. <i>I'm so stupid! Oh my god, stupid, stupid, stupid!</i> All he wanted right now was to close his eyes and bang his head on a rock repeatedly, and hope that some sense would be knocked into him. But he couldn't, that would probably upset Aisling, who was looking at him with eyes so full of curiosity that it was nearly pouring out of her. Haltingly, he began, "<b>Well, well I. I uhhh... I kissed you. Do you know what kisses are?</b>" He was tempted to make up some crazy story about kisses in order to make what he just did seem less lame, but wouldn't even know where to begin, words weren't coming easily to him right now.

Despite the build-up she'd experienced from such a surprise, Aisling was determined to discover what the surprise actually meant. Her nose felt funny, and she wiggled it, where he had bumped her with his own. She had no wish to oppugn him, so waited patiently until he explained the surprise. It definitely wouldn't take away from the excitement of it, like it would have most wolves. She just wanted to make it good for the both of them.

With a simple head tilt, she listened intently to his words, and nodded, <b style="color:#388d10">"Of course, I do! My mom used to give them to me all the time," Aisling smiled, happy to know what his intention had been, even if she still didn't quite understand it. <b style="color:#388d10">"But you're not my mother...And that was definitely different from what she had done." In a way, this almost made things more confusing for the girl, and she, again, tried to keep it out of her face. She knew what the surprise was now. That was all that mattered! There was a low growl in the back of her mind, and her orange eyes shifted slightly, as if she was trying to see Pangur, the creator of the sound, in her peripheral vision. <b style="color:#388d10">"speech."

Oh. She knew about kisses. Kiche was vaguely surprised, but at the same time his heart plummeted at the mention of her mother. He hadn't meant it to be <i>that</i> kind of kiss. When his humans kissed him, he knew it was nothing like on the moving pictures. His kiss had meant something different entirely, and on some level, Aisling recognized that. It made him feel a bit better, but his stomach still did awkward back flips that made him sick with chagrin. "<b>Well, yeah...</b>" There was a pause that stretched infinitely while Kiche tried to think of what to say, how to respond. His face burned, his heart raced. <i>What is this?</i> It was beginning to scare him, worse than anything he'd ever felt before. It made him feel very, very dirty all over again. "<b>That's because...</b>" But he couldn't think of how to explain it.

Aisling Halleck
Aisling waited out his explanation for this kiss, but it seemed that her quest for explanations was only making her dear friend mumble. Her ears twisted back, and she dipped her head, letting it tip slightly to one side, just in case something made it out of his mouth other than the little mumbles. Aisling was never the smartest wolf in the world. She tended to follow her feelings rather than her mind. If something frightened her, it simply frightened her. There was hardly logic to it. When her mother had done what Kiche had (though, clearly different. The girl knew that much), it made her feel happy. When Kiche had done that, it made Aisling confused, which upset her. She wanted to make him happy, and right now, she didn't seem to be doing a very good job. Her feelings began to get jumbled up, and she wondered if Kiche was feeling the same way.

So, what was he trying to say? Aisling simply could not put those pieces together. Her breathing became a bit sporadic, and she sniffled. How could she right the wrong she had committed? "Don't be stupid, Aisling...You haven't done anything wrong." While his words were comforting, his tone certainly wasn't. In fact, Pangur sounded furious. What had she done? "He likes you, you idiot." The cat went on, and Aisling's eyes shifted to meet his moving form. Her lips twitched, unable to form coherent words, but there was clearly a question brewing. Pangur hissed, and suddenly disappeared from view, leaving Aisling with a horrible feeling in her gut. It merely mingled with the other feelings of confusion, turning the white wolf into a mess. <b style="color:#388d10">"Pangur says you like me." The girl sniffled, breaking up the words, and looked up at Kiche, hoping to fix something. <b style="color:#388d10">"speech."

Time progressed awkwardly, hesitantly. The only indication of it's passing were the small movements of Aisling's face, which Kiche found too hard to look at. She wasn't speaking, and that confused him even more. She was a curious little angel, and yet she didn't press him when he faltered, and didn't ask him any more questions when his voice failed. Did she not want to know? Or did she, perhaps, already know? All these murky questions were giving him a headache, made his ears spin backwards. He would have very much liked to take a step towards her, because for some reason he was starting to feel very dizzy. However, the step he took was in the other direction. Maybe she wanted space, her breathing sounded funny, should he say something?

<i>"Pangur says you like me."</i>

Kiche bawked, his eye's widening. He had been ready to say something before she had suddenly broken the silence, and now he only coughed, trying to find air. <i>Pangur</i> says he <i>liked her</i>. Pangur knew. His train of thought was about to fly off on a tangent before he stopped himself. Of course Pangur knew. Of course <i>God</i> knew. Of course, of course, of course. He was asking the wrong questions. It wasn't a matter of how or why, it was more a matter of, <i>is he angry?</i> Was it a sin? Finally, Kiche's amber eyes, bulging with uncertainty, flicked over to Aisling. She looked as confused and unhappy as he was, and he was unsure of whether or not that was something he should take comfort in. "<b>Is he alright... with that?</b>"

Was lying really bad? Aisling was almost certain that she'd never lied in her nearly three years of life, but...for the first time ever, she really felt like lying was the greatest thing she'd ever do. From the way that Pangur's stare made the fur along her spine tickle, she knew that he really wasn't "alright" with this. From the way he spoke, she knew. But here she was...Faced with someone else that liked her. But not like Jayse or her mother or even Pangur. Perhaps she was still young at heart and in mind, but now shuffling through her jumbled, confused emotions, she could pinpoint some center.

Love. Was it love? What kind? Did it matter? Aisling cleared her mind, and her expression suddenly became very serious. Yes, she was going to lie. She was going to lie, because her funny feelings for this massive wolf next to her surpassed her twisting feelings for her feline friend. It felt cruel, cruel to betray her friend like that, especially when she knew that Pangur couldn't tell Kiche himself...But if she didn't lie, she'd make Kiche sad, and then she wouldn't know what to do.

The seriousness softened a little bit and she smiled, nodding vigorously, <b style="color:#388d10">"Of course! Why would he not be?" Her head tilted to one side, and she stopped nodding, trying to keep her ears forward as a feral snarl tore into their depths. It was a horrible sound and she deserved it, and it hurt. But not as much as she was certain it would have if she'd told Kiche the truth. <b style="color:#388d10">"speech."

Between the second Kiche stopped talking and second Aisling started, Kiche had managed to work himself into a nervous wreck. Outside there was only a flash or a single twitch to indicate the raging emotions and hormones that tormented him, but on the inside he was a wild tempest, a feral storm that assaulted his head and made it hard to him to stand still. <i>Pangur's definitely alright with this. Oh my God, I'm doomed. Damn me to hell, oh my God, oh my God, he's going to kill me. Aisling's going to hate me. I bet SHE doesn't even like me. She hasn't said she has. Oh my God, what did I just do?</i> Stupid, stupid, stupid. That's how he felt. For all it was worth, Kiche might as well have been a stupid heathen, born and raised in this dirty world, nursed on lies and blood and... "<i>Of course!</i>"

Once more, Kiche was ripped from his tumultuous thoughts in such a rough, surprising manner that he jumped. Aisling acted as if there was nothing wrong with... what Kiche had done, the way Kiche felt. Except it <i>was</i> wrong, it was <i>very</i> wrong to feel this way for the escort of God, for an angel. Angels were holy creatures, and he should never have even <i>touched</i> her. But... Pangur didn't mind? The ground was nearly ripped from his feet. "<b>Really?</b>" he exhaled, flabbergast. He stared down into her incandescent amber eyes, amazed. For some reason, it felt as if he was truly looking at her for the first time, and she was beautiful, so holy and beautiful. But did she like him too? "<b>But...but what about you?</b>" Taking the tiniest step towards her, his head lowered, he whispered, "<b>Are you alright with it?</b>"

Aisling flinched as Kiche jumped. Oh no! What if he knew she was lying? What had she done? Her amber eyes widened as she waited for him to speak, but as she stared back at him, she didn't see any anger. He didn't look angry or upset. That was good! That was great! That was the best! She gave a tiny nod as he breathed the word "Really?" at her, and there was a hopeful gleam in her eyes as they met his. There is came again. Aisling could hardly control the smile on her face. "You've already lied once. It shouldn't be too hard to do it again." The gray cat hissed, but she couldn't let it affect her. Was she alright with this? Of course she was! Even though she hardly even understood what this was.

It was all so confusing to her. But she hardly hesitated when she answered her, <b style="color:#388d10">"Of course..." Though her voice trailed off slightly at the end, and she couldn't bring herself to let out another lie. Not that it wasn't a lie. She didn't hate Kiche, she did like him! She did! But it was hard for her to comprehend such a thing. <b style="color:#388d10">"I do...I really do like you...Even though I don't understand all of it." She let out a little breath, and looked up at him again, hoping that he understood. She'd never been taught any of this. She'd been stuck in the mind of hardly a yearling for most of her life. How could she truly comprehend what love was? Love that came from someone that wasn't related to you... <b style="color:#388d10">"speech."

The sparkle of divine smile was the only answer he really cared for, the only answer he wanted, and when her jaws parted like clouds to reveal a radiant beam of sunlight, he swooned. A feeling overtook him, a very confusing feeling, because it was sickening and celebratory all at once. Something about this felt so right and so wrong, and he wasn't sure <i>what</i>. But right now, he didn't care, and he figured he could just worry about it later, right? If Pangur didn't mind, then he had all the time in the world to figure this out, right? In the back of his mind though, a darkness shifted, and there was a warning rumble in his stomach. Something definitely felt wrong. If only he could just decipher it.

The cherub did, however, respond verbally, which made some organ or another do a somersault. She liked him, she really did! This time, instead of a frightened jump, he twirled about in jubilee. Almost before she had finished, the words burst from his mouth, "<b>I don't even understand it either!</b>" And that was the truth. He noticed, though, that she was looking up at him as if she was looking for some sort of reassurance. She looked so innocent, so angelic. Caught up in the moment, he bumped his nose against her once more, another one of those "kisses," laughing softly afterwards. "<b>But... I kind of like it.</b>"

...i have found a use for the word of the day. /cliche!
So this was what it was like to be really, really happy! She'd be happy, definitely happy, when she'd found Grizzly Hollow, pre-installed with two wonderful friends, now three, including Kiche. But now, she had a friend, no, a best friend that she could sing with and who would give her kisses and cuddle with her. She'd found the yang to her yin. And it definitely felt great!

It was only the icing on the cake when he admitted that he didn't understand it either. So, they were in this together! Two absolutely confused beings. She didn't feel alone. It was wonderful. She stretched up to meet him as they "kissed" and she rose up on all fours, slamming her tiny self into his chest. <b style="color:#388d10">"Me too," The corners of her eyes crinkled when she smiled, her nose touching his throat as she looked up to try and see his eyes when she spoke, still pressed against him. <b style="color:#388d10">"speech."
