As she introduced herself, her tail began to sway back in forth when he grinned back at her. When she first became leader, it was hard to get used to the subtle dips of the head and tails being lowered in her presence, but now having been a leader for a little less than a year, she got used to it. She almost expected it at times, well with her own members of course, but it never hurt when strangers respected you as well. Most wolves knew the pecking order and being leader meant you were on top. Athena couldn’t complain. However, freedom was the cost.
Ace’s simple compliment brought another smile onto her face and her luscious tail waved harder. “Thank you, Ace. I was named after my mother’s best friend, who became my godmother.” Before she died, she thought, but decided not to add. Her mother’s best friend meant everything to her mother, so when the woman unexpectedly died, she was crushed. Athena say firsthand how her mother dealt with that loss and a part of her own self died that day as well.
At Ace’s polite answer, she smiled and met his grey eyes, “Well, I’m glad that I was one of the first wolves that you’ve met so far. I’m sure you’ll meet many more. The Lore has many wolves to meet; some good while others not so much.” Shadowstorm and all of pack of imbeciles on the mountain for example made up the not so good category. Athena has met many wolves in her time here and she planned on meeting many more. With his next question, her fiery eyes looked back at him, a small smile appearing on her face once again. “I’ve been here for a long time. This winter marks over a year now.”
