Ta-da. ;)
He had aptly avoided her upon his return after delivering a message to Secret Woodlands. It was not out of fear, nor distrust or dislike.. but of his desire for her. The season came upon them far more quickly than he could have imagined, given it felt like yesterday he had just joined their ranks. Yet within the short months of winter, he had become captivated by her, and in turn fuelled only more for his burning need for a family and life. Koda’s departure was hardly missed by the ivory male, if only because he had never even met the man.. but Shade’s rise to leadership was unacceptable, and the Arygris male knew he would seek to replace the man should Elettra wish him by her side. But not as a friend. He needed more.
It was with this decision that the male grasped the hare tightly in his jowls, his nose seeking out the woman who clouded his visions for far too long now. The blood from his catch hindered his tracking, but he soon found her, within the confines of a den he had not yet visited.
For silent moment’s he stood outside, the moon hanging lowly within the sky as it cast an eerie golden glow over the willow trees of their home. It dulled the ivory of his coat, bringing to surface the pale cinnamon that flecked his pelt. It was now or never to make his intentions clear, and the scent of the heat of the season swept over him, causing him to inhale sharply.
Clearing his throat now to announce his presence, the ivory wolf slunk forward, just entering the very front of the den, his muzzle just barely poking in far enough. Blinking to adjust his gaze to the sudden change of darkness, it took him a few minutes to catch view of her, and without hesitating, Phineas dropped the hare to his front paws, bending down to nudge it toward her. “Elettra,” he murmured warmly, his tail giving a contented sway. “I brought this for you.. you need to keep your stre—“. Cut off suiddenly, his nose tingled, the scent hitting him fully.
So fully that he instantly felt his heart blacken as realization dawned on him. The scent of mating. The scent of her. And the scent of one he had never expected. His muzzle jerked up sharply, his eyes seeking hers out, blinking in confusion at first and then narrowing.
He had never held any claim to her, but that did not stop the familiarity of the situation that now sprawled before him. The déjà vu of it all was completely unwelcome.
