About Hearthwood River.

Despite their attempt to maintain their quiet home in Cut Rock River, Maksim Baranski and Kisla Baranski found the safety of the forest begin to shift as tensions with other packs began to rise. Having successfully raised their first litter to near adulthood and expecting their second, the pack found their concerns regarding their rival pack, Whisper Caverns, begin to lift higher as time wore on. While in debate on how to eradicate their neighbors without bringing violence to their children, the pack’s allies, Black Thorn Downs, was beginning their own potential war with Secret Woodlands – and in turn, the pack would flee further north.

Finality came to Cut Rock River when Rook Lyall, a quieter member, called for the attention of Maksim and Kisla. The yearling explained his intent of re-establishing the Grizzly Hollow pack – a pack that would share the very same forest Cut Rock River laid within. Deeming the youth a traitor, Maksim and Kisla made the final decision to move their family further north and from the growing number of packs they could not trust.

Hearthwood River was born of both chance and timing. Unable to travel much further due to her pregnancy, the pack dug a den close to the proud edges of the River for which their territory was named, and only a few weeks after Kisla gave birth to her second litter, Hearthwood River officially claimed the territory as their own – the pack’s very own second chance.

Pack pride colors for Hearthwood River are "Fire Heart Red ( #f93700 )" & "Gentle Shallows ( #3843aa )".

Pack Information.

Pack Beliefs
  • i. Remain loyal to your leaders and to the pack.
  • ii. Respect your pack mates; you are family.
  • iii. Strive for greatness! Be the best you can be.
  • iv. Second chances are not given out easily.

The wolves of the River view each other as family -- their bonds are strong and they do not easily accept loners past their borders. You must prove yourself to the leaders, speak with confidence but show proper respect. Empty words fall upon deaf ears, and a lack of courtesy will get you nowhere. Bringing something (a gift, whether food or supplies) will always work out better in your favour. Loners may be tasked to retrieve a gift before being accepted into the ranks.

Several intriguing smells can be found on the River wolves, though there are defining elements that make up the pack's overall scent. Wolves of this pack are commonly found with the following scents well established on their coats: Redwood  (strong), White Fir (faint), Black Hawthorn (faint), Lavender Hyssop (faint), moist soil (strong) and Lachesis (strong). It can be described as a “mossy”, “woody” or “earthy”  scent.

Pack Policies

Number of Leaders (+ Gender)

• 1 or 2 Leaders — can be 2 of opposite or same gender

• Leaders will be same gender if necessary, or if a second leader (of the same gender) is elected by the rest of the pack — the second same gender leader will hold the II. rank

• To ensure there are no holes in hierarchy, a wolf of the opposite sex will old the I. position but will not be titled as "Leader"

• One leader will be permitted if the second leader falls behind an activity check: if a member wants to pursue the role of leader at the II. rank, they will have to first challenge for the I. rank and then ask (or be voted) to obtain the role of leader

• A wolf holding the I. rank (and with/without the role of leader) can be challenged by a II. ranked wolf (of the same gender) at any time

• If the pack only has one wolf ranked as I. they can be challenged by either gender, at any time

Inactivity Rules (+ Promotions for Leaders)

• If a wolf with the role of leader falls behind on an activity check they will still hold the rank of I. (unless challenged by the II.), but will either have to ask for their role back or be voted back into the position by the rest of the pack (2 weeks after missing the activity check)

• This vote can take place in character during a pack meeting, or via the pack thread, or can be done out of character if the pack agrees (a discussion will take place in the pack common room)

• If they fall behind a second activity check they will have to wait an additional 2 weeks (4 weeks total) to ask for their role as leader back, or to be voted back in by the pack

• Required post amount for a leader is 3 per activity check (no exceptions, this is a sitewide rule)

• If a wolf is acting as a replacement leader and they want to keep the position (both the rank and title) they will have to challenge the previous leader to keep their spot (as well as meet the leader 3 post requirement)
