Paging anyone and everyone! (Join if you can & want to) Percy has been missing since last night (2/7 - see here to find out more)

He hadn't been worried when she hadn't been in the den last night, it wasn't unusual for her to wander out late, and he thought her old enough to handle it. Though he was concerned about their unstable relations to the north, he also realized that he could only protect her so much; Squeeze too tight and she breaks out..! Besides, she'd followed his guidelines since the meeting, keeping mostly to the south or going with @Askan if she ventured into the tundra. He thought everything was fine, that she was safe. This wasn't the childhood he'd wanted for his daughter, even with the packs protection, he'd still hoped she would be free to explore at her leisure, without the threat lurking so close. A heavy sigh fell from dark lips; We rarely get what we want…

So this morning, waking up to again find no sight of his child, that anxiety had started to stir. It was possible that she'd simply turned in late and gotten up early, it wouldn't be the first time, and he'd had a rare, late morning himself. Still, a knot was quickly forming in his gut, and he took to searching the Fields, dearly hoping he would find the girl. Now the sun was nearing its highest, and he hadn't. The worry was a writhing monster within him now, wild and angry. He kept telling himself that it could still prove to be nothing, Askan had been gone too this morning, after all, and they might be out together. But it didn't feel right. Had circumstances been different, he might have waited longer, but he couldn't take that risk; Please, let it be nothing! He hoped so dearly that she would come running, complaining over his smothering, as he raised his head and called a short, sharp note, alerting the rest of the pack as well that something was amiss. Then he returned to pacing in front of the frozen pond, as he waited for response.

Askan Selwyn

Wading through the knee deep snow, Askan sighed as his brows furrowed in concern. When he woke this morning, Percy hadn't been curled up at his side nor was she using him as a pillow to rest her head. In fact, when he awoke she wasn't in the den at all. He recalled how his eyes had scanned the mass of bodies, all huddled together and safe in their little shelter, squished between the roots of the great oak tree. He'd thought it odd and in that moment the seed of worry had been planted. Yet, now as he-somewhat aimlessly- searched the vast field the seed had grown up into a shoot and with each footstep it grew taller and taller.

Where was she?

It wasn't unusual for her to wander off and do her own thing, but to his knowledge she'd never left before sunrise. For the most part, she was the last out of the den, so much so that sometimes she had to be dragged out by the scruff of her neck, lest she spend all day sleeping. This sudden change in behaviour troubled Askan and whilst it was unlikely that she'd been gone long enough to be officially called missing, he couldn't help the sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. His instincts told him something bad had happened, but he had no way of knowing what.

Maybe he'd been around Drestig too much, maybe he too was turning into a worrywart.

Another sigh passed his lips just as a howl echoed through the field. Drestig. Askan's ears tilted to listen and he paused in his tracks. The call was short and clipped, but ladened with concern. Whatever it was, it was bad and- The Selwyn kicked off into a gallop, his sides heaving as he ran alongside the creek. Then he turned, crossing the field diagonally as he raced towards the frozen pond, where he could see the Old man's dark figure pacing back and forth, waiting for his subordinates to arrive.

Skidding to a stop, Askan barely managed to stop himself from colliding with the Rye King. But rather than apologise, as he should have, he merely straightened himself and blurted out a breathless question.

"Have you seen Percy?"

Icicle Whitefang
The pinked eyed wolf dozed quietly in the shade of the trees that laid upon the fringes of the fields. The albino’s slumber was disturbed by a quiet howl, a tired sigh escaped as Icicle opened his eyes, blinking away the grogginess as he realized it was Drestig’s call. He tilted his head slightly, ears perking the call didn’t sound right, Drestig wasn't one to howl too often and it had him curious now. The concern within the call caused him to worry. Slowly, pulling himself to his feet, shaking the loose dusting of snow off his pelt and raising his muzzle toward the sky, Icicle let out a quick note of his own acknowledgment as he started off down on the short trek home.

Eventually Icicle found himself nearing the icy pond, just in time to catch Askan upon the scene, his question answered Icicle’s worries, the pup of the pack had gone missing, it made sense now for why Drestig had called them, though his own knowledge of Percy’s habits were no where near as familiar as Askan’s, the fact that he had questioned her brief absence was all the albino needed to see in order to know it was serious “I came from the south, I haven't seen evidence of her from that direction.”

Castel Lyall-Noor

Cas was on some sort of high after meeting @Niles. Though she wouldn't quite put the term "love" to it, she admired him. Perhaps it was a crush, or "puppy love." Something - anything - but actual, genuine love. So, as she trotted up through the Rye wolves' territory, a skip in her step, imagine her surprise when she heard her alpha himself release a worried call, sharp and anxious, into the air.

Since the Rye wolves' resident yearling wasn't far from the den, she answered the call with a yip of her own before following it hastily, worried that something was very wrong. She didn't think that @Drestig was the type to call for no reason. So, she hurried along, and got to the den just in time to hear @Askan ask about @Phoenix, and @Icicle's reply.

The alphas' pup? Cas wondered immediately. She didn't know Phoenix - or Percy, rather - per say, but she knew of the pup - the only one in the pack younger than Cas herself. The little wolf's brows knitted together in concern - it was so cold out; no time for a puppy to be on their own. "Haven't seen her," she replied, brushing her flank against Askan's as she approached. As a sort of greeting, yes, but more for his comfort. She'd never heard him sound distressed before. "I've been pretty far south, too. Do you need me to go another direction?"

Having meant what she said about serving the pack, Cas would, indeed, go as far in any direction she needed in order to find Drestig's daughter. She owed him that much - more than that, even.

Adelayde Artemieva

She should have noticed it when she woke up with her back huddled just inches from Askan's and she didn't have Percy's feet in her face or even see Percy next to Askan like she usually was if she wasn't with her parents. However, she was sure the teenager had woken up before them and just started on with her day, just like Ade did. It wasn't until she couldn't find any sight of the dark girl anywhere in the Fields that she started to become concerned. Making her usual rounds, she paid extra close attention to any scent or sign of the Field's princess. The only signs she found of the Rye heir were on the the northern borders just as the pines dispersed to open tundra which riddled her with furthermore worry and concern on the fact that the Whitestone wolves might have something to do with this.

She was about to turn back towards the Oak tree to see if the others had seen her, when a short, concerned howl lifted into the sky from Drestig. Brows furrowed in concern, she took off in a gallop towards her alpha's call knowing there was bad news at the end of it.

Jogging to a stop she just caught Icicle and Castel's words and could see the worry on both Askan and Drestig's faces. Looking to Drestig, “I only caught signs of her on the northwestern borders just as the pines clear out, but they are at least a day old.” Glancing towards Askan, her face plastered with worried for the young girl. She didn't want to say it and cause more panic, but she was fearful if they didn't find her soon the Whitestone wolves may beat them to her.

It's expected that there will be little to no signs of Percy to find because of the snowstorm.

He was answered swiftly, something that might have been satisfying under different circumstances. But now, as he saw the easily recognizable brown figure race towards him through the heavy snow, alone, all he felt was dread. Drestig paused his pacing just in time to avoid a collision, though like Askan, he didn't care much at the moment. They eyes met, and as the guardian gasped out a question, the father felt ice in his veins, the worry on his face turning to pale fear. "Not since this time yesterday," he replied somberly. She wasn't with Askan; SHIT!

More of their pack mates quickly joined the make-shift meeting, all spouting the same story; Gone! Drestig looked between them all, eyes wide and brows furrowed, ears flicking at each bit of information; North, dammit! He should have known it wouldn't last, too much of both her parents' wanderlust in that pup. His brain kicked into high gear, quickly taking tally of the pack as search plans spun in his head. Instantly his mind went to the worst case scenario, and part of him wanted to storm north that instant, to tear open that bitch and her ugly mate, but he pushed back the feelings. Despite his distaste for the Monadnock wolves, he couldn't truly believe they would break the truce this way, and he reminded himself to keep a cool head; For Jessie… They would search elsewhere first.

So, with an unusually authoritative voice, the king swiftly delegated tasks: "Askan, take Castel and go west then, hopefully she's out there somewhere. Adelayde, you're coming with me, we'll go east. Icicle, I want you to stay here, you'll be in charge while we're gone." With Remi and Everly, he felt confident they could put up a decent defense, and there would be someone there if Percy came come; Hopefully… But there was no more time to waste. A court nod was given, and then he turned, expecting Ade to follow as he hurried across the Fields in a swift trot; I'm on my way Percy!

Askan Selwyn

No no no. This wasn't supposed to happen, someone was supposed to say they had seen her! That she was safe and that he and Drestig were kicking up a whole lot of fuss about nothing. But no, they just reiterated what Askan already knew. Percy wasn't here, she was missing. The Selwyn pressed his ears flat to his head as he gnashed his teeth together. How could this have happened? He knew she wandered off sometimes but she'd never been gone for this long, not long enough for anyone to realise she was missing.

Drestig's words were like a hot knife through ice. He'd never heard the Rye King talk in such a way, but he was right. They had to act, they couldn't stand around panicking. Time was wasting, the sooner they started the search the sooner they would find her.Yes, he had to believe that.

Because if he didn't then it would surely ruin him, for now and forever.

Clearing his throat, Askan shot a sharp look at Castel. There was no time to waste.

"Come on, we're going. Follow me." He commanded, gesturing for her to follow with a flick of his snout.

With that, Askan broke out into a sprint, ploughing his way through the snow with all the strength he could muster. They would find her, they would find her, they had to. His King had tasked him to search the west and damn it he would, no area would escape their eyes and noses. If she was to the west, they would find her.

The situation seemed to grow more grim with each passing second as their solemn faces having the same assumptions though not willing enough to share them. However, all who knew had that fear in the back of their minds that the Whitestone alpha came through with her threat. And oh what a war they would have if that was so. However, the Rye wolves couldn't be too hasty and assume the worst. Adelayde and the others needed to keep hope in their minds. Hope was powerful and she needed to use that to help Drestig and Askan.

Glancing at Askan as Drestig gave his orders, she waited till he met her gaze and she tried to give him the most reassuring nod she manage. They were going to find her. They had to. Either she got lost somewhere and just needed to retrace her steps or she forgot to tell someone where she was going, they were going to find her alive. She was the heir to the Rye throne and a precious gift to the pack. She had to be out there somewhere. How far could she have possibly traveled in less than 48 hours? As Drestig began to move out, she followed swiftly behind him.

Askan Selwyn
for ye old Rye King @Drestig

Askan would not demand or throw a hissy-fit if he was told no. He would simply ask and hope for the best.

He didn't think his request was unreasonable, after all he'd put all of the hard work in, but then again of course he'd say that. Drestig had never been a cruel man and he seemed to approve of the fact that he'd been patrolling the borders so vigilantly, but even so it wasn't safe to just assume. It wasn't his place to, no matter what he would alphas defer to his leader and King. And if he did say no, then it'd be okay. Askan wouldn't respect him any less.

Hurrying along to the communal den site, Askan let out a quick summoning for the elder and settled down in the middle of the clearing to wait. As usual-how was the old man still so swift on his feet?- he wasn't left waiting for long. Climbing to his feet, the Selwyn offered a quick nod in greeting and quickly cut to the chase.

"Drestig, I've been thinking. I've been tending to the borders for months now, almost as much as you have and I think at this point it's only right to make it official. You once asked me what I role I wanted and I've decided for sure. I want to be the fields guardian."
