Hawthorne Selwyn
Well that simply wouldn't do. She needed someone who did know how. It really didn't hurt as much as it had when she hit the floor but the slight stinging sensation was still there. At least his brush against her shoulder made her forget about the pain for a brief moment. Also, the fact that he seemed to agree with her thoughts on the birds was rather pleasing. "Yes." She nodded her head when Elyan mentioned finding dad. Hawthorne didn't think she had one of those but she knew this boy did.

Like magic the pale man that she called a friend appeared. She leaned into his touch before pulling back and lifting up a paw to expose her stomach. "Burdses did it." She looked between the younger and older male. Certainly they would believe her. Those winged creatures were foul and didn't play nice. They even had the audacity to continue making ruckus even after they had injured her! She simply couldn't believe it! Hawthorne cast a rather upset glare at the black and white birds that seemed to not have an ounce of concern for what they had done.

"Fix?" It was more or less just a barely noticeable sting now but it was there and she could still feel it which meant it needed fixing. Of course, Hawthorne wasn't really sure how it was supposed to be fixed. She fully expected the grown-up to know that.

Elyan Myrddin

The gray boy didn't like that he felt helpless to make his friend better. He tried to do so by brushing his nose against her shoulder but it was the only thing he could think of. Beside going and finding his father, that would sure help his friend. The question was where was his dad and could she come along or did she have to stay behind? Elyan wasn't sure how to handle that so he was grateful that his father appeared when he did.

The pup wondered how his father knew they needed his help and where they were for that matter. He supposed that didn't matter then because his friend needed help. Besides he wasn't sure he had the words to ask his father about it anyway. A smile crossed the boy's features when his father bumped his cheek in greeting. The girl told his father about the Burdses hurting her, “Them really mean,” interjected Elyan. His father needed to know about the great injustice the Burdses had done to his friend.

She then asked his father to fix her hurt, “He fix,” he told the girl confidently before growing quiet. After all the pale man was his dad and he could fix anything. Elyan stood back to watch and see what his father would do to make his friend better so they could play some more.

Emrys Myrddin

It had never been his intention to make his presence known to the children. He'd been enjoying watching them play and become friends during. Emrys had always hoped that all the children that had been born to the notch that year would become friends. The pale healer didn't want to interfere and instead work themselves out naturally. Hawthorne needed help and he was there and he didn't like seeing the girl so upset so he would do what he could to make it better though he had no experience with this part of fatherhood.

After greeting each of the children Hawthorne lifted her paw to show him where she hurt. He took that to mean that her tummy hurt and since he'd seen the whole thing he knew that to be what she'd landed on. “Maybe we can teach those birds a lesson about being mean later,” he said looking between the two pups. Once he had Hawthorne feeling better then he could take the pups for a lesson in hunting birds. They could at least help the birds to move on so the notch would be quiet once again. He also considered something completely different to help take Hawthorne's mind off what had happened.

He smiled down at the girl when she asked him to fix her injury. “Of course I will fix it. Now let's see what is the best course of action,” he said thoughtfully as if he were going through the options of what would be best. He was reminded of something his mother used to do for him when he got an injury such as what Hawthorne had. “A kiss should make it all better.”

Hawthorne was glad that her friend agreed so much and it showed by the beating of her tail against the earth. She figured that if Emrys really didn't believe it then maybe hearing it from his son would help prove that the birds were dumb and cruel. "Yesss." She excitedly hummed at the pale leader's idea of teaching the birds a lesson.

The young Riverflow was a bit confused about his idea on how to fix the now almost gone pain but she trusted his judgment. He was the adult after all and Elyan said he could fix what the birds had done. "Kiss?" She looked from her stomach up to the large pale leader with wide puppy eyes. The Notch pup was willing to give it a try. Although, she wasn't sure if it would actually help or not anymore now that the pain was mostly gone. Perhaps if she just let him pretend to fix it he would help her and Elyan teach the birds a lesson! Those pesky things kept yaking in the background and hopping about if they owned the place.

Her gaze went to look at the young boy, wondering if he might be thinking the same thing. He had wanted to chase the birds with her earlier. Perhaps he would also find the idea of showing them a lesson, like Emrys had said, exciting and interesting.

Elyan Myrddin

His father as always listened when they tried to tell him what the burdses had done. He knew his father would believe them because his father always believed him. To make it clear Elyan backed his friend up in her account. As his father spoke the gray boy tried to understand but when he said the word mean he knew his father did believe then. “Lesson?” questioned the young Myrddin, that was a word that he didn't know. Why would they do that to the burdses? It seemed his friend knew what it meant and that it was so a good thing, “We do,” he then in agreement with Hawthorne answer his father, he didn't want to be left out.

Just as he knew his father told his friend th as the he would fix her hurt. Elyan didn't know how but he was sure his father did because he knew everything about fixing hurts. The gray boy nodded at his father's suggestion, he knew these words because they had been spoken to him before. It was what had been done when he had hurt his paw while exploring and it had made it all better, he was sure this situation would work for his friend too. Elyan tilted his head to the side when Hawthorne didn't seem to know what his father was talking about. Well the gray boy could fix that and he went over and kicked the girls cheek, “Kiss,” he told her before stepping away to give his father room.

Now that she knew his father could do his work and make her feel better. Then they could all go and do what his father had said. Elyan was rather excited to find out what his father had suggested.

Emrys Myrddin

Both children explained to him about the birds and how mean they had been. Of course he believed then when they told him since he had seen the whole thing. The suggestion of teaching the birds a lesson went over well with both children though his son question one of the words. “We will talk about that later,” he told his son, once he figured out how to explain it.

The Riverflow girl didn't seem too confident that her injury could be fixed but his son backed him up bringing a smile to the pale leaders face. Emrys proposed a remedy to the girl which she questioned, he felt that was only natural since she maybe didn't understand. Elyan however made sure she understood by licking her cheek. Again the new father found himself smiling and making a note to tell his mate the first chance he got. “Exactly, thank you Elyan,” he said as the boy moved to the side. Now that that was settled he looked to Hawthorne before bending his head and giving her tummy a quick lick.

He then looked to the dark pup, “Better?” He asked hoping that it would prove to have worked. He of course knew it wasn't actually part of his medical training. More part of his training as a parent and since her father wasn't around he didn't mind stepping in.

The young girl couldn't help but giggle at the kisses. She did feel much better already! She wasn't completely positive it was from the kisses but they had to have helped somehow, otherwise, Emrys wouldn't have suggested them. Her tail thumped against the ground below as she leaned her head into the leader's pale leg. "Better!" She happily chirped back before pulling away to look at Elyan.

Without a word, she bounded over to the boy, circled him once, then plopped down by his side. Despite the birds still aggressively squawking and squalling and bouncing around, she didn't wanna chase them too much for the moment. Perhaps she was a bit scared she'd hit her stomach again. Of course Hawthorne would never admit such a thing out loud. She wanted to be the strong and tough one. She wanted to be just as big as Emrys and do just as great of things as her mama!

Laying down on the ground, she looked out to the Magpies scattered across the place before looking back to her company. Now that her stomach felt better thanks to just some time and some kisses, what did they do? A wide smile tugged on her features. Surely Emrys and Elyan would know what to do!

Elyan Myrddin

After his father had had given her kiss to make her feel better and asked her if she felt better the boy waited. He knew it had to work his father always knew how to make things better. When she exclaimed that she did feel better a smile crossed the gray boy’s face and his tail swept the ground behind him. He was happy his friend was feeling better and they could go back to playing.

She had then come to sit beside him which surprised the young Myrddin. He turned his head to look at her before bumping her cheek with his nose. ”Glad better,” he told her. His gaze went back to his father for a beat before his attention was drawn back to the squawking Burdses again. Through their whole conversation and making Hawthorne better they had not stopped. Elyan was sure that they needed to do something about them especially after how they had hurt her friend.“We teach lesson now?” He asked his father before looking to Hawthorne to see what she thought of the idea. Elyan was sure his father wouldn't let the Burdses get away with hurting his friend.

Emrys Myrddin

There were times that Emrys felt badly for the young Riverflow because her father couldn't be there. He blamed Sylva for this but he didn't mind stepping into the role for the girl. He cared about her like he did his own children and nothing would change as far as he was concerned. A smile crossed his maw when she confirmed that she was indeed better. “I’m happy to hear that Hawthorne. Now you and Elyan can go back to having fun,” he said placing a kiss to her crown. He of course didn't have any doubt in his suggestion for helping her feel better. It was however good to know that it had helped her.

He smiled at his son happy he had found a friend in Hawthorne and that his son had done what he could to make her feel better. “Me too son,” he told his son giving him a nudge on his cheek. Looking at both pups sitting next to each other looking up at him he notice they both had acknowledged the fact the Magpies we're still making their racket.

His attention was drawn back to Elyan who asked about teaching the birds a lesson, “We can if Hawthorne is still up for it,” he said letting his gaze fall on the girl, “Or would you like to do something else?” He asked her.

Hawthorne Riverflow
The lovesong of the buzzard in the dogwood tree

Her tail thumped against the earth as Elyan nudged her cheek. He was a very kind friend indeed. She grinned wide up at him before her attention was directed towards Emrys again. Did she want to do something else? Her head tilted to one side as she contemplated it. The birds still squawked and hopped around the Notch's home. The young Riverflow's face twisted into a look of puppy disappointment before a yawn slipped out. Her chasing and jumping had worn her out some. Without the stinging sensation on her belly, she no longer felt so much anger towards the black and white birds.

She rolled onto her back, legs pulled close to her chest with her stomach still exposed to the sky. "Nap?" The young girl asked softly. "Burdses later." Certainly all of these creatures weren't going to disappear during the duration of one nap. There was so many of them and Hawthorne was positive that they all couldn't flee with such speediness. Although they had managed to escape her advances and she believed herself to be rather speedy.

Wide puppy eyes glanced between Emrys and Elyan, wondering if they felt the same. A nap with not one but two friends sounded rather tempting right now.
