Greer Archer-Lyall
guardian dem 2/3

The shadow was seething. As his nephew spoke Greer was (painfully) reminded that the pale boy was Sköll’s son. He understood that the bleeding cow was closer to the Ridge territory than it was the mountain, but it did not mean the two packs couldn’t share the meal. But, apparently, sharing was above Sven. He snorted, his mercury eyes rolling in his skull as his upper lip curled, revealing a row of ivory teeth as the fur on the back of his neck bristled. He and Morganna had left because their mother’s empire was falling apart—crumbling due to the lack of stability in the pack. He still held a fondness for the willows, just not for the wolves who remained.

Attica was quick to chime in, her words clipped as spoke harshly to her brother. The differences between the two couldn’t be more obvious. Greer was thankful that the peppered Archer had not taken traits from either of her parents. His niece had taken the words right out of his head, for he wouldn’t have been able to articulate it as well as she had. The Ridge used to be a prominent presence in the southern Lore, but as his parents aged the structure had begun to deteriorate—especially with his uncle at the helm. He wanted what was best for him, not the rest of the pack or the Archer legacy. Even Sköll had tainted the Archer name by breeding with whatever walked by first. Attica, at least, had her wits about her. Sven—not so much.

He was amused by Summiter’s speech, but appreciated it nonetheless. Even the newcomer had a better sense of loyalty than his nephew. Ravenna was quick to dismiss the situation, for she had no patience with Sven or the Aurora pack.

As his scarlet mate spoke she commanded the attention of the wolves gathered around the spilled elk blood, venom dripping from her tongue. He remained at her side, the fur on the back of his neck still standing as she addressed the obnoxious white Archer. Sven no power here, he spat once his mate had finished, herding the rest of the Aurora wolves away from the clearing. He gave a short nod to her in regards to Attica—he would ensure nothing would happen to his niece. Send Nicolo next time. His tongue clucked against the roof of his mouth, his mercury gaze fixated on the ghostly Archer. Willows died with Greer-mother, he added, his gaze hardening. Sven shame Archer name. He took a step forward, his lanky body still rigid. He shot Attica a quick glance, indicating that it was time to take their leave soon: wrap it up!

Sven Archer
the devil is & always will

Sven thought the surprises were done with, but it seemed Attica possessed an entire arsenal of them. The anger and venom in her voice cut her deeper than the accusations she threw at him, for those were utterly unfounded. Chased off half the pack? What, when Renier had run away from them? He hadn't known them to be so dearly close. Was that why she had left, and not the wanderlust she had told him of? His muscles would have quaked if his seething rage didn't keep them locked firmly in place. His ears were ringing, so much so that as his steel eyes bore into his sister's he didn't even register the first half of Summiter's retort. It was better for them all, really--no wolf could otherwise get away unscathed from slinging such words into his face. But he caught that last bit, which echoed Attica's claims.

Starting a war? They thought this was a declaration of war?

The bronze woman then took her turn, Greer's assumed mate. Immediately she spoke of visiting children and simply passersby, as if Sven would have attacked any and all presence that stepped foot into the willowed woods, much less those benign forces. Finally his gaze was taken from off of his sister and a single brow hiked high into the air as he looked at the strawberry blonde, clearly indicating how ludicrous he found her exaggerations to be.

Sven had seen a lone wolf stalking prey just outside of his pack's borders, and therefore went on to assert his ownership of the deer through body language. He hadn't attacked the man, and yet an entire pack had appeared within a few short breaths to bark and growl and stomp out demands about his behavior, expecting Greer's name to be a free pass that he should've not only respected, but psychically known. That they were all so readily available was problematic enough, but ah, no, he should have just calmly approached Summiter and asked, 'excuse me sir, are you associated with an Archer? any will do, its the ultimate privilege to disregard the unspoken rules that are followed anywhere else.'

If he were a yearling, this all would have devolved quickly. Her words would have sent him into a tizzy, but now he merely watched her go, content enough to get his way this time. If they had wanted diplomacy, they would have acted so when they descended, not held their self-assumed heads so high and expected him to roll over with his apologies. No, they wanted free reign, and if that had been an unspoken arrangement before, it was now over so long as Sven had anything to say about it.

He would have turned to go as well, had Greer not then chosen to put in a few words as well. Sven's gaze turned to him, unfazed now as this was the third time he would be blabbed at that he 'had no power.' No, he would rather speak with Nicolo, he said? The man with whom Greer had also rallied against, whom he had abandoned along with the rest of the pack when Morganna had taken her dramatic leave? Sven had to wonder if that truly had all just been forgotten and buried over in his absence, if more damage had been done than he'd thought. But then he kept going, and said the single phrase that would be the most enraging to Sven of them all.

"You mean the death you weren't here for? If the Willows are nothing to you, then you'll have no problem keeping your distance."

Had they wanted to discuss the matter rather than leap down his throat, things would have went much differently. After all, Sven hadn't snapped after Summiter knowing that he was a hand of Greer's. Even after, he would've swallowed his disdain to have a calmer discussion with less noisy bodies. Now, with this crass reaction and all of their insults, it was clear just how little the entire pack thought of them all before this had even occurred. He would not trifle with a man who pissed on the roots that bore him, much less allowed strangers to do so as well. One more look was given to Attica, filled with clear disappointment, before he turned heel and took off after @Ravenna. He wouldn't have joined the hunt before, but now he wasn't about to leave her to work all on her own. He anticipated that @Leotie would be right behind him.

Here I stand, staring at the sun
Attica Grace Archer

Ravenna's words were heard and she offered her aunt an apologetic glance, she wished things could have been different, been better than they were but they weren't and she still hurt over all that had been said and done. Her nonna was dead and her brother had suddenly taken to vanishing, only to waltz back smelling more like another pack than his own. She had never been able to wrap her head around why he might have thought to challenge wolves that were actually there the way he had. Why? So he could wander wherever he wanted without being questioned about it? And then her eyes fell on the brown woman that stood so close to him and part of her figured it out.

Oh. Right, everyone had started smelling funny and acting weird. Was she worth it? She wanted to goad but it wasn't her place to question whether her mind was conjuring fact or fiction, and truthfully she didn't want to know if the children she had scented on the borders were her brothers knowing he was gone when she came back. Kyna's words were half-heard through the haze of bile and blackness that threatened to overtake her, she had nothing else to add beyond a snort through her nose at Sven's look and a flick of her tail to shake off the last thread tying her to the willows, like an errant cobweb in a distant corner of her mind. She touched her nose to her uncle's shoulder, far from the sweet shy girl he had first met on the heights now she was bristling and stiff, her tail held out rigidly behind her back. The sooner they got away from this place, the better.

The agouti woman was a little nervous about the situation and how it seemed to he unfolding. She had the overpowering sense that she shouldn't be there but at the same time she felt she should. These wolves had showed up in numbers which outnumbered the ridge wolves. Leotie worried that if things became worse she wouldn't be much help to Sven and Ravenna. Still not at her full strength she worried what would happen to her. She remained unfaltering at Sven's side ready to back him and Ravenna up as best she could.

When she learned that the wolves of the other pack were family and that this could turn into a fight between family members she tried to calm Sven. The last thing she wanted was for a fight to break out amongst them and for the family to be torn apart. Ravenna announced she was going after the injured doe, Leotie watched her leave. She stayed not wanting to leave Sven alone with these wolves that could turn in him at any moment. She didn't know them and she didn't know what they would do.

When Ravenna had called for it to be enough Leotie had developed a more neutral posture but when the red woman and her subordinate spoke, her words dripping venom her blue eyes narrowed. Then the man spoke too and Leotie waited for things to go badly but the didn't. Instead Sven turned and left to go after Ravenna and the agouti woman hesitated only a moment before she turned and left too to go and help her packmates with the doe.

The pale agouti couldn't believe he let himself get wrapped up in what was now looking like differences within the family. He'd had no idea that it seemed Greer's family extended off the mountain. He wanted no part in the fight if one did take place, he might be a warrior but he wasn't going to fight a war between family members. The Albarn distanced himself from the new member stepping back so that he was there but not at the front of it.

Things just seemed to further downhill as in his own opinion Summiter wasn't helping and it was about that time he noticed one of the wolves from the other side go. Seems she felt the same as he did and wanted to get as far away from this as possible.

Then Kyna spoke her piece and Pyriel hoped it would all be over after that. When he received the order to join his alpha he obeyed moving to join her and the others.

He did not care what Sven had to say. It was time for the shadow to return to the point, to rejoin his mate and their subordinates. Despite what the pale Archer had said, Greer would always remain fond of the Willows. It was where he had been born—his earliest memories were among the sinewy trees. But he had always been hungry for more—something different. His mother had known that, as even at a young age his paws never stopped wandering. He wished he had given her a proper good-bye, before leaving for the north.

The shadow had always wanted to maintain a good relationship with the Ridge wolves, but now he wasn’t so sure. It was no longer the pack he remembered; the pack others quivered at upon hearing the name Willow Ridge.

He gave a loud snort in response to Sven before turning to Attica, his features soft as he motioned for her to follow him back to the mountain. It was not how he intended for the conversation to go, but he could not watch his former packmates spit on his mate (and his current packmates) over a simple miscommunication. Without hesitation he plunged through the trees, his mercury gaze fixated on the mountain in the distance; on home.

Greer exit.

Summiter
look what you made me do

He paid close attention to the words exchanged. The bits of family history, and tensions that lingered beneath the surface. The expressions of Kyna and Greer. For he was at the ready if it continued to go further south. But, he had nothing else to say. Disgust was evident, and he felt it in his own gut. He had come here just for food. Food that anyone had the right to. Especially, this close to their home where the willows lined with the Heights. The white wolf may have not harmed him, but he had miscalculated. Summiter would have howled for help in the hunt eventually. But, when Attica had thrown herself into the mix he had thought bloodshed would follow. Turf wars were real where he came from, and no one leaved without a mark.

When all was said and done there would be no joint hunt. Just wounding words. He wondered if this matter would resolve if they spoke to this Nicolo. But, for one reason or another he was doubtful. As these Ridge wolves left it was hard not to want to chase after them. After the prey he had spent time tracking. It was only because he was commanded did he follow after his leader. He didn't understand why they didn't wipe the floor with that bugger at least. Family or not. He'd seen fights for less. No other Ridge wolves had showed up to help their own. The Heights had clearly outnumbered the two there. What kind of "family" thing was this? As they made way to their mountain he was starting to wonder just how different things were around here. If he could live in a place like this where harsh words were exchanged but not teeth.
