Years ago and long before Askan ever dreamed of becoming an Edge Lord, he had always been told that he would lead the Selwyn Clan when the time was right'. However-contrary to what many believed- he had very little interest in claiming the Selwyn Throne. He was content to be a subordinate, everything was as it should be, until one day he got into a heated argument with his Father, the Leader of the Selwyn Clan. Cruel words were tossed back and forth, and despite attempts of intervention by his fellow clan mates, the damage had already been done. Riddled with shame and self-loathing, Askan decided enough was enough and ran away from home.

After weeks of aimless wandering Askan found himself malnourished and alone in the lands of Relic Lore. On his very first day in the Lore, he met a wolf called Drestig.They hunted together , and soon after Askan decided to join the Old Man's rag-tag group. With the help of Drestig’s mate, Jessie, and a handful of other loners, they formed Wild Rye Fields in Larkcall Lowlands.

Not long after, Askan met Reyes,a rougish loner, who saved him from drowning in the Fjord. After some time Askan managed to persuade Reyes to join Wild Rye Fields, and from then on out they were seemingly joint at the hip. Slowly but surely, Askan and Reyes' relationship changed into more than just friendship, and by the shore of Skyfall Glen they finally agreed to become mates.

Unfortunately, the bliss did not last long. No matter how many wolves Askan recruited their numbers continued to dwindle. Though he never admitted it aloud, the Selwyn blamed his alphas, believing that it was their inaction that allowed loners to come and go without consequence. After an intense encounter at the borders with Hearthwood River scouts (and some harsh words from Jessie) they decided to leave the pack. Cottongrass, who had been a member of Wild Rye Fields, followed suit and the trio headed east, to the forest of Secret Falls.

It was in the eastern forest that they stumbled upon two lone cubs Hawthorne and Sachiel, along with several former Wild Rye wolves. After thinking about it for some time, Askan decided to give leadership a chance, and with Reyes by his side, they formed the first pack with same-sex leaders in Relic Lore. Shallows Edge was born; a haven for misfits, grumps, and those looking for a place to belong.

Pack pride colors for Shallows Edge are "Monarch Red (#d00114)" and "Selwyn Yellow (#ecbd2b)".

The Wolves of Shallows Edge.

• Navigation: South-West of Secret Falls, on the northern edge of Red Fern Forest
• Den Description: Hidden well within the forest surrounding Secret Falls is a small, unassuming lake. Fed by a series of tributaries that diverge from the grand waterfall, the lake is so well-concealed by the trees that it has only recently been discovered, despite the fact that several packs once called this area home. At first glance, the water seems pleasant and calm, the perfect place to take a dip. But if you wade in, the shallows suddenly drop off into a deep, deep lake – so deep, in fact, that light doesn’t reach the lakebed. The territory surrounding the shallows is a safe haven, with many natural caves concealed within broken trees and rocks worn away by decades of falling water.

Notes & Trivia.

• The Edge is a refuge- of sorts- for wolves that feel like they don’t fit in elsewhere. A place for second chances and new beginnings. That being said they are still expected to pull their weight, in one form or another.
• The leaders of the Shallows are not as forgiving as most. If a pack member screws up they are given a chance to redeem themselves, but their kindness should not be taken for granted.
• Reyes and Askan are the first same sex pack leaders in the Lore.
• Wolves of any gender and sexuality are accepted here. Discrimination in any form will not be tolerated.
• Inspired by Hanging lake , Shallows Edge is almost exactly the same. Except rather than being surrounded by rock on all sides, it has far more foliage and greenery.
• Reyes and Askan have close ties with the leaders of Wild Rye Fields and Driftwood Surge, and as such regard them as trustworthy allies.

Important Events.

These are the noteworthy events that have taken place in the history of the Shallows Edge pack. They can include pack meetings, changes in leadership, births or deaths, etc.

1. 03/08/17
2. After causing a confrontation with scouts from Hearthwood River Askan and Reyes are severely reprimanded. This in turn makes them question their place Wild Rye Fields.
3. 02/10/17
4. Askan confesses to Reyes that he feels as though the field is no longer his home. Reyes in turn admits that he's only there for Askan and together they both agree to leave the pack.
5. 04/10/17
6. They reunite with Cottongrass, who had been missing for some time. He agrees to tag along.
7. 06/10/17
8. Reyes meets Hawthorne, who managed to get lost in a storm. Looking for adventure, Hawthorne leaves White Fir Notch and agrees join them.
9. 06/10/17
11. Askan stumbles upon Percy. After catching up he tells her of his plans and she too agrees to join his motley crew, as long as Remington is allowed to join as well. He reluctantly agrees.
12. 14/10/17
13. Askan tells Reyes that he wants to form a pack. After some consideration Reyes agrees and they start making plans to lead together.
14. 24/10/17
16. The pair stumble upon Shallows Edge, and decide it will be their home.
17. 26/10/17
18. Late at night, after hearing a strange thumping sound Askan meets Sachiel. He invites the pup to stay but he declines the offer.
19. 25/11/17
20. Sachiel changes his mind and  Shallows Edge is founded.

PACK INFORMATION..

Pack Beliefs

• i. Respect isn't given, it's earned.
• ii Pull your weight, moochers are not tolerated.
• iii. Loyalty is valued above all. You are either with them, or against them.

The wolves of Shallows Edge have formed a close knit society. Whilst they do accept loners into their ranks, new members are expected to prove that they have what it takes to be an Edge wolf. Wolves of the Edge are given freedom and independence, and as such they are not coddled. All members are expected to contribute and-at least try to- get along with their fellow pack mates. Those who don't are given a single warning, 'sort out your shit or get lost.'  

Pack Policies

Number of Leaders (+ Gender)

• 1 or 2 Leaders — can be 2 of opposite or same gender.
• Leaders can be the same gender, and will be ranked I. and II. respectively.
• Pack will shift to one leader if the second leader falls behind an activity check: if a member wants to pursue the role of leader at the II. rank, they will have to first challenge for the I. rank and then ask (or be voted) to obtain the role of leader.
• A wolf holding the I. rank can be challenged by a II. ranked wolf (of the same gender) at any time.
• If the pack only has one wolf ranked as leader they can be challenged by the highest ranked of either gender, at any time.

Inactivity Rules (+ Promotions for Leaders)

• If a wolf with the role of leader falls behind on an activity check they will still hold the rank of I. (unless challenged by the II.), but will either have to ask for their role back or be voted back into the position by the rest of the pack (after the cool down period is over.).

Gaining a role

In order to obtain a role in Shallows Edge your wolf must:

• Approach either Askan or Reyes and make their intentions clear. This can either be done in a standalone thread, or in the Shallows Edge pack thread.
• Complete at least one thread demonstrating the role they would like to take on.
• Return to either alpha stating that the task is complete. Again, this can either be a standalone thread or in the pack thread.

Once all three tasks are complete and the alpha's are satisfied with the demonstration (this will be established IC) your wolf be awarded with their new role and responsibilities!

Pack Roles

Keeper

• Remington currently holds the role of Keeper. It is a Keeper's responsibility to watch and maintain the borders, and to keep order and peace. Like guardians, Keepers are known for their strength, fortitude and vigilance.

Herald

• Lyanna currently holds the role of Herald.
